Faizon Love hating on Dave Chappelle again at Breakfast Club interview

Mike Epps and Aries Spears hate on Kevin Hart and Chris Tucker.
Faison Love hates on Dave Chappell.
Mo'Nique hates on Sheryl Underwood.

Why???

Could it be jealousy? Used to be the unspoken rule that comedians never dissed other comedians because because they knew how hard it was to make it in the business.

Now it seem backbiters like Faison, Epps and Spears are bitter because they feel "hey I'm funnier than that guy, why is he getting big money and opportunities and I'm not"?

Big egos, limited talent and negativity are the prime reasons they remain second and third tier comedians, in my opinion. :hmm:
Faggot ass Mike Epps also hates on Dave Chapelle for not being from the hood. He always bitching about him being from the suburbs doing black jokes.

I don't know about many of yall but Killin Em Softly is/was one of the best stand up routines I have seen. There are various levels to being a comedian and being a funny stand-up comedian is one level. Eddie Murphy was basically great at all levels of comedy. Chris Rock is excellent at stand up but nowhere near as good at being a comedic actor. Not only is Dave a great at stand-up but he is also a great story teller; he is a great comedic actor, he has a certain comedic charisma and like Kevin Hart he has impeccable comedic timing. I just watched the Def Jam 25 year anniversary and Dave was the funniest thing about it. He killed every time he in front of the camera with minimal effort and pretty much off the top of his head.

First in the post you responded to I stated that black folk did not follow him like they did the others. So I didn't say people didn't know him. In my other post I stated most black folk didn't know him or didn't think he was funny until the Chappelle show.

So you can pretend like Dave was some big star in the black community like the other breakout stars from Df Comedy but he was basically under the radar to black folk until Chappelle Show.
We are talkin history before social media. I saw all of his showtime/HBO specials before he blew up and I thought he was hilarious. He was just natural.

Like Eddie Murphy, you can say Dave Chappelle doesn't have a signature joke. He didn't have to. He could tell stories about his life, mixing real life and a little imagination and he could go from there because real life combined with imagination is funny. It's believable.

Chappelle Show simply gave him the Boost so that more of America saw him but many of us had been checking for him for a while. Again, this is before social media

This. I can't think of another comedian that can be funny for 6 plus hours without doing a bit. Dave is brilliance personified.

Everybody has their own opinions but there are much better stand up routines than killing me softly, and that is easily Dave's best standup. Patrice Oneal's Elephant in the Room destroys it, Chris Rock joints, Eddie Murphy Delirious, hell Eddie Griffin got one that was a classic. Dave became great because of that tv show. He was not a standout comedian on Def Jam. He was good, but not great. Faizon has always been a dude that speaks his mind, and a fight come with that. Matter of fact he had most of these comedian niggas shook for years. He also was not one to bitch up to them white folk. Kevin Hart told a story on Foxxhole years ago about how Faizon put his hands on some white NBC exec for wasting their time on a sitcom. Niggas acting like he a bum. He has the right to have an opinion, he put in the work. His IMDB page ain't bad.

What makes for a stand out comedian from Dec Jam?

A following based on it?

Check.

Movies, TV appearances and more stand up in part from said appearances?

Check.

can you tell me what Dave does wrong to make himself unfunny?

Y'all aren't being factual with these assertions.

I followed Chappelle early myself and always thought he was funny but there is a reason he was not a breakout star from Def Comedy Jam. That's because a lot of black folk didn't really feel his type of comedy.
It doesn't matter that it was before social media because there were others who blew up among the black audience and even a few that crossed over.

Its funny, the most stereotypical he's ever been as a comic was his caricature of a comedian in The Nutty Professor.

His jokes, like his life experiences are Universal, not "hood" or stereotypical

Man these haters like Faizon or Mike epps aren't that funny so they make excuses about their lack of success. It's so common. and by the way Patrice O'neal was ok, he wasn't that funny to me.

idk about dave as a comedic actor. he had couple good moments i can think of on film. blue streak was funny, half baked was ok. and conspiracy brother was cool. dave don't really do film. his strength is that stage.

i'm referencing film. not a sketch show. i think chris rock is stronger on stage than film and he will tell you that himself. same for dave. sketch comedy is different than film. that's what i'm referencing to .

Sketch comedy does count you know... he did have his own show. And did you watch his appearance on SNL like last year? He is seemingly funny and fluid in every role he does.

It is his opinion so I have no issues with what he said. He has to remember that he is still in the business so it is very unprofessional to speak in a negative light about his comedic brothas
Could have swore when they asked him about the Kevin Hart Michael Blackson thing, he said comics are supposed to ride for each other and that was wrong what Mike was doing.
Then he goes on to shit on other comedians.

I remember fazion from uptown comedy club. He got roasted right. And what happened to this white dude lol.

Oh shit....I forgot all about this show

again. i was referencing film. there's folks who were great at sketch comedy but for some reason they do well in film. dave will tell you that himself. with chris rock the films where he had the leads he was not as good as the ones where he was a supporting actor. eddie was great on stage sketch and film. i was referencing film. that's what i said from the jump. if we're talking about sketch comedy that's a different story for alot of comedians ex, tommy davidson, aries spears( that eddie murphy /rick james party all the time shit funny as hell)

He almost had a good point, If he would have just narrowed it to a black perspective.

I think Dave is not only hilarious, but is the best improvisational comedian maybe ever; But Dave popularity does stem from white people liking him.

He should have just said that. He made it into like "what hood classics" does dave have? But Dave has never been the "black peoples" comedian.
I lot of black folk didn't know who Chappelle was nor did they think he was funny before the show. He came up working in from of mostly white audiences before that.
He was like the white folks guide to black folk.
This but these ppl don't hear yall tho

If he funny to yall then cool but don't act like most think he is

I think it' 50/50 whether he's gonna be funny or not

Exactly, I can say much about his opinion because he has a right to like or dislike something but it is very unprofessional to do it in the media when you are in the same line of work.

Even with my business, I never Shit on other cleaning companies no matter how bad of a job they did

Dave became great because of that tv show. He was not a standout comedian on Def Jam. He was good, but not great.
Your entire post was bullshit but this part stood out the most.. He had a bit on one of his DCJ sets about the origin of the N word... It garnered one of the most insane responses from the crowd in Def Jam history. You guys are just pulling shit out your ass at this point.
Dave not funny to nikkaz from the hood
This is Faizon level stupidity here.
