Whats the difference?
Sure thing, heres the diff. This is the Vickers Tactical Slide Stop VTSS-001
Just an extended lever to release the slide with your thumb, I hate the stock one because its too smooth and flat for me to use. There is another school of thought that teaches racking the slide to release it, eliminating the need for such a part. I'm starting to lean more towards racking, because this lever can chew up a holster. I kind of smoothed the edges because they were sharp.

This is the Lone Wolf Dist. Extended Slide Lock Lever. To take the slide off, you have to rack the slide and grab the lever from either side with your thumb and forefinger and pull it down and pull the trigger to take the slide off, and I would always loose my grip from the slide movement after the trigger pull. This helps. I may remove it since I don't anticipate taking this thing apart much anymore.

How you like that forend light?
Its cool, I've used it for years so I've gotten used to it. I upgraded the head to a Malkoff which is brighter. The lockout switch is nice to save my batteries when needed, and the pressure pad is still solid and consistent. Its still intuitive when moving fast. I have one of their newer models the DSF-870 but I don't like it. Its brighter, but way heavier and they replaced the pad with buttons. Don't like it, its going to get sold.

I'm familiar with extended slide stops, but never heard of the slide lock being swapped out. I've had the same issue with it being hard to grasp, but I deal with it since I don't do it often.

And you're right, extended slide stops/releases do dig into holsters and skin

Whats the model number of the one you have? I'd rather try that one than the newer ones.
It'd be for a mossberg 500 tho

Benelli M4 vs. VEPR 12 vs. Mossberg 930 JM PRO Tactical?

Mossberg 930 JM PRO
Just found out there was a 940 released about a year ago. According to some YouTube comments it's just got the Or3gun spacer and some plunger to help with carbon build up

I know the latter is about a $1k lesser, but still like it. I haven't shot it, tho.
Thoughts?

Let me save you some time and effort. Take a serious look at the Beretta 1301. Imo, it smokes everything posted above, even the iconic M4.

I'm also looking for a do-it-all cleaning kit with different size brushes & rods.

Same with a toolkit with punches, etc.

With so many weapon light options how do yall go about choosing the right one?

For an AR pistol, AK, handgun, shotgun

This is a great question! Allow me to retort! For me, I got a 36 inch bag which holds two distinct calibers. 300 blackout and 5.56, the mags and weapons are marked, no mixing em up. Also carry at least two pistols. 9mm and 45 or two 9s, .40 etc. Shoot what you are comfortable with and can draw smoothly and fast. That's it. You'll see mfs with 7mm, 7.62, etc and all that bullshit but it's all about your preference. Anything but 22L. or .22 May as well throw rocks.

No such thing, I suggest that you build your own custom cleaning & tool kits based on your experiences and likes. Look at Grace USA punch sets and brass hammer, Wheeler FAT torque wrench (at the minimum), a decent set of screw drivers, torx and allen bit set and a good driver, Real Avid smart bench block, a decent bench mounted vise (Wilton or Yost).

As for as WML, look to proven manufacturers i.e. Streamlight, Surefire, Modlite, and Cloud Defensive. For pistols I have a quite a few Streamlight TLR-1 HL,
TLR 7a/sub, Surefire x-300 u. For long guns I run Streamlight Pro Tac HL-x rail mount, Cloud Defensive REIN and OWL.

P365, G43x MOS, Hellcat (t-shirt weather)
SS MR920, G19.5 & X (for cooler weather)
Shield Plus is definitely t-shirt weather EDC for me especially if I appendix carry. I tried 2 o'clock carry last week with the G48 & it wasn't too bad with the longer barrel but I expect it to be much better with the Shield Plus

Bro, I finally found a M&P 10mm. It's a 4" thumb safety model, but I copped anyway. Looking for a RDS on it as I type this. I'm probably just going to re-home a Swampfox Justice from my MR920, and move a spare rmr to the MR920. My boy didn't have any Shield Plus' in stock. He told me they are flying off the shelves

I was thinking I could save money & time by looking for a set. I hate paying for shit twice, or replacing something that didn't last or fit my needs. Buy once, cry once. But I get it, I'll piece a setup together based on reviews & what I read.

With the lights, just like optics & scopes, it seem overwhelming with all the options. I got a Olight striker on one rifle and an olight Valkyrie PL-2 on a pistol. I like both so far. I'll try streamlight

I have a few Olights, 2 Baton II, Warrior X, two or three PL Mini 2, and a Odin. I never had an issue with any of them, I just decided to go with brands with better reputations for a couple of dollars more. A short time ago, Olight had issues with some of their batteries resulting in a couple of lights catching fire. That's where all the computer commando hatred for Olight stemmed from. Mofos shame folks for posting Olights in some of the online forums. The tagline "Another perfectly good flex ruined by olight" is heavy on Facebook. Check it out for a good laugh.

I don't fuck with fb at all :itsawrap:

I'm glad you told me about the Olight issues, I wouldn't have known.
Is it enough to avoid Olight altogether?

I don't personally know anyone that has had issues with Olight. I can't find more than a couple of instances where there was documented proof of fires, other than a couple of pictures online. What I can say with certainty, is that I had a Olight handheld get so hot, that it burned the carpet in my work truck. I still occasionally carry my handheld lights. I make sure to lock out the power button. However, I wouldn't go back to using their WML.

For context. :dunno:

I only work with 2 rifle calibers, 300blk and 556. I pondered over ways to differentiate mags (At first I wouldn't even take them to the ranges at the same time) This works for me. 300 in 20-rounders, 556 in 30-round mags.

Speaking of range bags, I found a nice one that holds my 300blk sbr & 870 sbs
Also hold 2 pistols, bunch of rifle and pistol mags, tools and snacks.

Yeah, you may go through tons of gear before you settle on things. I ran Surefire Scout lights on my rifles until I saw the light of Modlite. I run Surefire on my Glock and shotgun. It just depends. You also have to think about your own practical application and expected use. As far as range gear/tools, I don't take much. appropriate wrenches for my rifles and a multitool and some lube. I do this with my rifles too.

Small bit of lube, spare batteries for my optic and light, allen wrench to remove optic, small copies of my tax stamps for that rifle, and my old multitool. I do keep a pocket cleaning tool with cleaning rods for the suppressors because they crud up quick. But honestly, your tool collection will build itself based on the products you have and need.

Upgrade to .40 or bigger. 9mm aint big enough
9mm used to be pretty pussy, I concur. I ran .40 for years myself, as it was the perfect balance of capacity and bullet weight. But 9mm manufacturers have made some extremely lethal advances in bullet performance. Theres more to it than weight, theres recoil, powder flash, does it petal good and leave a good wound channel? I just pick good ammo that works with my weapons & focus on shot placement.

I saw the 4.6" model with the thumb safety for $620. I held off cuz of the thumb safety though. Well that and I had to be an adult for the time and prioritize paying my mortgage   What are your thoughts on the trigger for it? As for the Shield Plus, I'm not surprised by it flying off the shelves. It's a solid micro pistol especially if you get the optic ready model

.40 is a dying caliber. 9mm has had great advances in hollow point technology that helped render .40 obsolete. There's a reason why the Feds and LE have left it and returned to 9mm.

Walther PDP. One of the best guns released in 2021. Ergonomics similar to the HK VP9 & Walther PPQ but better grip texture. Lightweight frame and amazing trigger out the box.

I haven't come across anyone with issues with Olight but for a few dollars more I'd go with Streamlight. They're a reputable brand with solid products. Surefire is the top of the line brand but almost double the price of Streamlight which comes in 2nd.

I'm not overly impressed with the trigger. It's not horrible, but there is a pronounced gritty feel throughout the take up. The reset and break are decent, I'm hoping the gritty feel will subside with firing. If not, I will just get an Apex.
On a side note, the M&P safety can be removed and replaced with the frame plugs S&W uses on the non-thumb safety model.

Don't have my carry yet, but I got the Taurus G2C and the S&W M&P Shield
Upgrade your Shield to the Shield Plus. You'll increase your carry capacity without sacrificing your accessory options as the Shield Plus retains the same physical dimensions. Plus you'll have a tremendously improved trigger. The only accessories that won't carry over are for magazines as the Shield Plus mags are shaped differently.

Ironic that you say that cuz I heard S&W worked with Apex to create their new triggers. I did notice the gritty feel as well on the 10mm model. The updated 9mm models don't have that gritty feel though. As for the frame plugs, where would you get that?

What kind of safes/cabinets are you guys using for storage? I bought one cabinet, but it was so damn flimsy that I sent it back. Looking for something that I can keep the kids out of.
