Anyone have 1st hand experience with either the fn, ruger, psa 57 pistols. It's not a need, just a want. Looks like a fun gun to shoot with some self defense applications.

Damn, the reviews are mostly good, tho. Some bad, of course everybody's mileage varies.

How do you use your laser bore sighter?

Each caliber has a different printout target. Print it, post it about 20-25 yards from you. Put some gun oil (very small amount just makes it easier to insert and take out of muzzle) on the rings on the portion of the sighter that goes into the muzzle. Turn on the laser, aim at the bullseye and get into a comfortable position or the natural position you will fire the weapon and aim like you normally would, make adjustments to your gun sight until the laser and your sight meet together on the bullseye of the target.

I have an FN 5.7, PS90, and a Ruger 5.7. What would you like to know?
FN 5.7 ammo WAS priced low enough to justify using one as a range toy. However, current price and availability of factory FN ammo has stopped me from using mine for target practice. I have 1k + of some of the more exotic and highly desirable FN ammo. American Eagle has 5.7, but my FN chokes on it, and I refuse to use anything other than factory ammo in my PS. I have factory SD ammo to EDC my FN, but I have FA's that are far better suited for EDC and SD duties. Ideally, reloading is where it's at for the niche calibers, but I haven't begun to venture down that rabbit hole.

I have the FN Five-seveN.

Fast cartridge, especially the green tips. Flat shooting as well.
Not many companies make ammo for it, though. The ammo can be expensive too. So I don't shoot it much.

Where I am, we can't use it as a CCW. I wouldn't get it as a first weapon.

But it's great to have in your arsenal. Just adjust the sights when you get it. Remember it's really using a combat round, so it's not for everyone.

I was mainly wondering about the reliability of the firearms. Seems like a nice addition to the aresnol

I have the DS version in bound. Let's see how it compares to my Staccato... :dunno:
I saw it in person not too long ago. The grip texture is nice but is very thick compared to other 1911s/2011s I've handled. For me, I struggled to get to the mag release with my thumb which would defeat the purpose if I was looking for a competition gun. Trigger was ok but nowhere near the class of a Staccato. The store had a Bul Armory 1911 at the same price point that had a much better trigger and feel. Only thing it lacked was fiber optic sights and optic cut.

Updated the pistol mag pouches on my home defense battle belt with pouches from esstac. Also added an AR mag pouch as well for my 300 Blackout. These esstac mag pouches are the shit. Excellent retention

I used the target that was in the box, and sighted using the other method.

When I tried using their software they wanted to know the bullet weight, velocity, grains, etc. I didn't have all the info and its just a .22lr.

I'll try to print it out when I feel like fucking with it again. I got enough projects on the homestead right now

You got the tool to adjust handgun sights? I only have rifle tool.
Wouldn't know how to use it
I did it so long ago (mine is first Generation), but I believe simple hand tools like a screwdriver will do.
I have other tools for rifles as well.

What exactly constitutes a "truck gun"? I've heard the term forever, but never delved into the definition.
I guess a good gun to have in the truck. Usually something more than a handgun, maybe a PCC or PDW, that can be used to dispatch animals, protect camp, defense while on backroads or off-roading, etc.

I like the idea of the hard hitting 7.62 in a short form, but I think it needs some refining by maybe adding a sight & stabilizing brace or just a single point sling that can be used to stabilize the back end. Also, ideally, without compromising the wood, I like the wood look & feel.

So you just use screwdriver y
to slide rear sight, no elevation adjustment?

It's been over 15 years Bro... I vaguely remember it shooting to the left and slightly high. It didn't need too much elevation adjustment if I recall.

But, I have to say this too. I found out that I'm left-eye dominant but right handed. That could have played a part in me being off. I took skeet shooting lessons last year, and that's how I found out that my left eye was stronger than my right eye.

Here's a pic of two of my girls: Kali Ma and her sister Mercy.

Normally SBR, that's it. Some people use shotguns too. I'm not a fan of the side reciprocating handle either because it can snag shit and interfere with the weapon.
