This is the diet I use. It puts your body in a form of hibernation like a bear. You take in the minimum caloric amount (800 calories), no sugar, no honey - something to do with Ketosis.

You don't take in any carbs during this period. You can do this diet for 20 days, 30 days or 40 days, I'm running it from January 3rd to February 3rd.

This diet cost me $1500 when I did it the first time so I stuck with it and lost 45 lbs in 40 days

During hibernation, the bears go in fat and come out skinny, your body will have the same effect.

Body signals:

Many times you're thinking you're hungry and you're just thirsty. So, you get a snack, a bag of chips and you end up tearing through the bag of chips and you're still not satisfied, because you were never hungry to start with.

Supplement snacks with water. During this diet you drink HALF your body weight in water. I am 222, so I'm drinking 111 Oz of water (7 bottles of water).

The best part is during this Period it causes your stomach to shrink, so afterwards you get full quicker.

Also, don't be surprised but you don't shit. There is no waste. The body uses all you put into it

So

Breakfast: black coffee or unsweetened tea (i use ginger or mint or turmeric, or a combination of them)

Lunch: 5.5 oz of either of those allowed meats or 10 jumbo shrimp (no salmon)

half a bag of steamed vegetables (no peas, corn or carrots- all carbs)

Handful of fruit (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, a peach or an apple (no citrus fruits like oranges, pineapples, or melons

Dinner: Different variations of the allowable foods

Get a good night's sleep because you lose weight while you're sleeping

Weigh yourself every morning. If you go more than 2 days without losing weight you need to shock your system by eating five apples throughout the day.

This works. I once lost 45 lbs in 40 days...but then I got lazy and didn't maintain a workout routine.

So once you lose weight start working out or the weight will return.

If you got questions just hit me up, but this shit works

Bro, not to hate I respect you trying to look out for the fam but this is very bad for the body long term. When you severely lower your caloric intake beyond about 15-25% of whatever your maintenance tdee requirements are you jack up your metabolism. Sometimes for a few months sometimes forever.

There are fringe cases where an entirely obese person can fast 30 days with water or take on these extreme diets and it be helpful in short term but basically this is very bad.

here are a couple sites to read up on metabolic overstressing.
Slow metabolism livestrong
Everyday health
Healthline

Again I am not hating because we all do what we must but don't want to see people do nearly permanent damage to their bodies for a slimmer waist faster.
I think last I read the longest timeframe before damaging your metabolism is about 8 days. After that you need to cycle to full maintenance calories for a week then back to restricting calories if that is your thing.

The point is to get down and then maintain by exercise and eating better.

For some getting down will take forever. This simplifies it, gets it down quick.

It's a small loan for 1 million dollars. From there you can do the rest on your own. But if you are busting your butt to make a million there are a lot of pitfalls keeping you from getting there so you are never able to do what you set out to do

That's the thing - the "empty calories" as my mom would say to us growing up re: chips, soda, etc.

What pisses me off is how the suggested serving size for many snacks is like 2 - 4 cookies or chips. Give me a break. Most small, personal size bags of chips are several times that, and LITTLE kids can tear through that easily.

Back in the day when sugary cereal was forever advertised and marketed to kids / families. Hell ... how many kids all over have knocked back a SALAD BOWL of Sugar Whatever while consuming morning cartoons? Most kids.

Or say back to chips ... you go to a bar / restaurant and order nachos ... and you get a massive plate's worth. Hell ... everyone who is digging in is getting more than "4 chips".

A lot of it comes down to portion sizes. Went out to dinner in mid-December to a place called Anton's Pasta. They're popular and have always been known for large portion sizes (most people take food home). Ordered a dish and had enough leftover for nearly 3 meals at home. Wild. Even going there "hungry" as soon as the meals came out, I knew I'd be eating less than half of it.

One of the keys I've found as I've gotten older is keeping diced up fruit / veggies in the fridge. That way it's a reminder to snack on those ... without it going bad sitting on the counter. Ensure you're getting that proper water intake. When you make a smoothie at home - try all types of different flavor combinations. So many things work well & you know EXACTLY what you're putting into it (and make extra to have in the fridge). Just be weary of your caloric intake ... since we all don't have that high metabolism we could bank on in our teens and 20s and had crazy schedules and were burning endless calories with sports, etc.

I put the weight back on because I was lazy and didn't work out. Not necessarily because of the diet, but because I didn't correct my poor eating habits and what I learned later is to eat off of saucers not plates.
As @Helico-pterFunk said, it's about portion sizes. A saucer is closer to a correct portion size than a larger plate.

Most restaurants and fast food place give you much more than you should eat in one sitting.

Problem with that is, each time you eat more than you should, your stomach stretches to accommodate. Soon, the amount of food that would fill a saucer won't satiate you, now you are back to overeating.

You have to quasi-maintain smaller portion eating unless you are super working out hard. Most of us aren't, so all that food we eat goes right to the gut.

Once I get down this time I'm gonna keep on the weights and exercise

Agreed. And restaurant meals taste so great because of the sodium, fat, sugar, etc. All the "great stuff" for flavor that we aren't actively adding as much in meals we prep at home.

G' - regarding the weights / exercise ... I've found keeping an exercise journal or log very effective. Back in high school when I was burning off way too much energy (tall and lean) ... I would mark down what I was eating day-to-day. Just to keep myself honest and ensure I was getting enough food. Those long hours with practices, games & working out on my own aside from school (we played bball every lunch hour too).

In my 20s and early-30s I kept the log for gym sessions to see how frequently I was going ... what time of the day ... duration ... routine ... etc. See what worked best for my energy level / schedule, etc.

So for example I would jot in something like this to the binder ... and over time I would increase the difficulty level with the stat bike and do hills / intervals & duration (and see all the great improvement w/ difficulty) ... need to circle back to that ... it was a great reference with YEARS worth of data ...

January 7th, 2023 - 5pm - 6:15pm - Stat' bike / stretching / free weights and machine work / crunches and core / cool down

You don't even have to worry about carbs at 800 calories, your body will burn that up just trying to stay out of starvation mode.
When you go extreme like that, the weight returns with a vengeance once you stop.

The way it didn't return with the vengeance, but if you keep on eating like shit and not working out it will come back. I did this diet in 2017 and got down to 198. I just now got back up to 232 as of January 3rd, but I was eating like shit and not working out at all

It's math.....eat less than you burn.....start writing down what you eat and add the calories up, you will be surprised how much you really eat in a day. One good trick is never drink your calories, save that for food. Exercise is fine, but you can't outrun a bad diet. (going to Starbucks after the gym).

use the calculator below....

That's a good point. Especially with people who are going 1 - 2 times daily ... and it's not just a regular coffee, it's basically a dessert beverage higher in calories.

Those can really add up and $$$ too.

Should I be exercising during the diet?

Are there any activities or specific foods to completely avoid?

This something I have heard for decades!

Yeah - allowing your body time to process / digest food. A lot of times people eat too close to bedtime, or if they have erratic work schedules their meals are at off-peak hours of the day. It's all about knowing what works best for your schedule and routine.

I'm confused they saying corn is carbs...

But so is brocolli?

And what about glycemic index?

Is that not taken into consideration?

Do you exercise or have access to exercise equipment?

I started this year but just I'm walking more every day at least 6000 steps

I bought kettle bells and resistance bands but I gotta find some workout plans.

Netflix just dropped a nike workout plan with no equipment needed I started doing that too.

I found out my bad cholesterol is high and I'm nearing pre-diabetes levels so I cut out fried food completely and eating more fruits and veggies, no salty snacks, brown rice baked chicken, salmon, and WATER! since Dec 1.

It's the carbs that I need help kicking.

I'm eating chick pea, brown rice and spinach pastas to replace.

Everything has carbs in it. Stop thinking carbs are bad. The body needs them. They are an energy source. However, some foods have no other nutritional value. Corn has few nutrients. Broccoli has calcium and other vitamins. That’s why corn is used as a filler in dog food, cat food and other consumable items. It’s not “bad” per day but it won’t benefit you as much as a veggie like broccoli or kale. Stop falling into the trap that carbs or bad. Look at what is actually healthy and has benefits to the body

Thank you bro.

I'm eating a lot of a salad I like kale, chick peas, croutons and balsamic vinegar

Whole wheat breads

Steam brocolli and baked skinless chicken.

A lot edamame, spinach.

No soda at all.

Is that good?

I still my glass of Tropicana with egg whites and whole wheat bread and a banana

Based on this thread that sh*t will kill me too!

Like I had one slice of pizza a few days ago but I put fresh spinach kale arugla on it!

But I did NOT realize how much I liked excuse me craved bagels, ziti, popcorn and burgers.

That’s actually a good diet. U can cut the bread if u want but long as u aren’t going over board you’ll be good. A single glass of juice won’t kill u. That stuff does have a lot of sugar. I cut it with water on the rare occasions I drink it. Other than that your diet is great. If you exercising with this, the carbs and sugar from the bread and juice will get burned first. You fine.

Sounds good. Just double-check the Tropicana though (sugar content). Props on no soda.

Chick peas are a great source of protein. Really affordable too. Always stock up on them when they're priced right (which is nearly all the time). Great for adding into soups.
