Part 1 of the Dr. Umar interview is on the $5 tier. From what I've read, part two is on the $10 tier, but that could be wrong.
I don't know if the Nicki interview was on the $5 tier for an extended period, but it's on YouTube.
Apparently, there is a $50 that basically allows you to interact with the show more. I thought part of the show was in the $25 tier, so either I was mistaken or they changed this recently. I remember Joe mentioning a new tier for fans to actually come to the show as a quasi internship. The $50 tier isn't that and it seems way too low for that level of access/opportunity.
Long-term, this gets very competitive. For me, I don't mind supporting something I regularly watch on the lower tier of $5. In this instance, you really are mostly getting an early drop with exclusives thrown in occasionally. However, how many people am I going to support? It becomes the same issue thst is starting with every movie company starting their own app. It defects the original purpose of moving away from cable. Not that it's much better, but why not sell an exclusive pod as a subscription and stand-alone product. I guess you can technically do that by canceling your subscription like people do when a season for a series they like ends.
So far, web monetization has failed, but maybe something in-between is workable. In theory content creators are paid in real time based on engagement. The downside is content turns into something similar to a utility service. However, you as a customer have access to more content without signing up to 50 different creators across multiple platforms. You are more or less in control of what you are willing to spend for the month. If I'm only interested in seeing the Dr. Umar episodes, I only pay for those videos and if I'm not interested in seeing the last 1 hour of let's say 5 hours I only pay for 4.

According to this article Unc, pretty much became a sub label under The Volume umbrella. They do "revenue sharing," but Unc has new cameras, better lighting, that studio......is that his? The videographer / sound engineer are those his people. Sadly, the answer is probably no.
So Colin Cowherd puts the money up front, they know exactly how much each episode costs to make. After the ads make a profit, Unc gets a piece of the Volume pie and he can bring new pods into the fold under his Shay Shay Media label.

However, I don't think anyone saw that monster Katt interview coming. It completely stepped on and dominated urban (and a lot of mainstream) conversations for 24-48 hrs.
