I thought Trudy lived, without that bit at the end.....

But again Buck and Bill are gone. Beckwourth and Bill died. Bass Reeves recruited Cuffee to the Marshalls so they're out....

So what Trudy starts her own gang and hunts down Nat Love and Mary?

Eeehhh, maybe. I'd be glad to be proven wrong Jeymes does westerns well.

Remember Young Guns?? Everybody died in that s---t too except Billy, Chavez and Keifer Sutherland (Doc)
I could see a sequel where BASS REEVES becomes a central figure and maybe even switches sides. Like Pat Garrett did in Young Guns 2

Are you saying no one of merit based of your statement black actors not getting an opportunity to shine or no one could do as good of a job? I'll be the ass, but I don't recall Chadwick Boseman being highly regarded until Black Panther and his unfortunate early death. He wasn't even considered of merit until we got to see what he could do on a large stage. He had leading roles before, but I don't recall him being a real name before Black Panther. It's similar to Jonathan Majors now. I've started to hear more about him since Loki and maybe Lovecraft Country, but im not sure I'd say Majors is a big name yet.

To me it's not that someone of merit can't be found for Black Panther. It's more so as you stated the talent is being overlooked and honestly it's a bad situation for the film series. I never went into the theard so I don't know the feeling on the board, but I felt they should have found someone to take over the role as Black Panther or just not have the movie. We've had two prof. Xaviers and three Peter Parkers with the last being seen as the best. Spartacus had the exact situation except on a smaller scale for a Stars TV series and the energy of how black people felt about seeing BP I'm a solo big production film. Unless Black Panthers role was pivotal to the current phase, Disney could have taken the time to find the right actor. At the same time they could claim they were showing respect by delaying the film.
I'm saying THEY don't want to give us the opportunities.

When Wayne Brady was on the Dave Chappelle Show, they commented on the limited amount of black actors they want to get a chance.

They are out there in community plays and things like that but the opportunities to show cast more than the typical skills are limited by Design

Some actors like Daniel kaluuya, Lil Rel Howery, and even Winston Duke got their biggest break when cast by black directors, but there aren't a whole hell of a lot of us directing big Market films

I got to give sister Issa Rae a shout-out because she make sure that they are are a lot of black actors and directors and writers on her show.

I don't care that someone said that 62% of the audience who watches the show are white. Fuck all that bullshit. She gives black people a ton of opportunities, black people who would not have had the opportunities to write act and direct otherwise

Fam I was like 4 or 5 when that came out. And about 7 when the sequel came out......

I think I've seen parts of either one on cable, but never watched them all the way through.

While looking them up it looks like Christian Slater, Lou Diamond Phillips and Emilio Estevez (vax status pending) are slated for the 3rd installment called Guns 3: Alias Billy the Kid for 2022.:oops::oops::oops:

32 years after the sequel, 34 years after the 1st?!.....

There's gotta be a limit on lentlgths between sequels...... that's wild, haha

Yeah I was surprised they wasted her and Michael Beach's roles with just a 2 minute snippet. Could've at least showed her in a couple of Nat Love's flash backs. Still enjoyed the hell out of the movie though.
Yeah Beach's role should have been larger also, casting is suspect. Hell Dewanda could have played the lesbo chick. I guess casting director wanted to expose unknown talent

Fell asleep after 25mins lol.
Seemed low budget, like 95% of netflix shit.
Guess I'll try to watch it tomorrow again since yall saying its great lol

Btw Finch on apple TV is very good.
;)
Ok. Just finished it. It got better. A bit predictable and over the top. Found myself rooting way more for the "bad guys" than the "good guys".
Idris and Regina and Lakeith were all EXCELLENT.
Cool lil twist at the end I suppose.

I give it a 7/10.

Regina King can get it so raw btw
:inlove:

I think because some of us like westerns, it hit different. When I was watching it with my family, I had a great time laughing with my kids explaining to them that in westerns, the good guys win and the bad guys die. They always have bullets and they rarely miss or get shot, depending on what side you are on. Lol!

The main point was that you can't try to rationalize a western. It is what it is. That's what makes it fun.

Also, for those who say they were young when young guns was released, so was I. I wasn't even born when the spaghetti westerns were created. Nonetheless, I watch them now evertime they come on. There are some gems out there.

Clint Eastwood, although his politics are crazy, his westerns are gold. If you have never seen Unforgiven, do so asap!!!!!

Young Guns (I & II), Silverado, Tombstone, Unforgiven and even The Quick & The Dead are damn near automatic viewing in my house
Lately I've come across a few really old Westerns that I wasn't even interested in but still ended up watching (But not that Gang of Roses sheeeeeit)
I think because they represent a real part of the history of this country (regardless of the tall tales they might spin). Just like the gangster flicks

I had a very similar experience to his Rooster story, though I didn't have to go hand to spur combat with one of ours. I escaped before he could close the distance. A fuckin' hen dropped dime on me with the loudest "Buckcaawwww!" ever and I was cornered in the hen house for a good minute and a half before I could get out.

All of the hens closed in on my ass and was blocking the doorway but when I saw the "Cock of the Walk" coming full speed, flapping his wings and all puffed up...:eek2::scream::scared:.

I was 7 at the time.

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

I also notice that he has the cup from the movie that he and Delroy sipped from in both of those interviews. Just a lil Easter egg that he seems to carry with him.

Movie was fire...watched it twice, (once with my lady, and once with my dad - he loves old westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza) loved the movie and it's best movie ive seen in a while

Regina King and Zazie Beetz, we need to see them in more movies.. Chemistry was amazing

I went and looked up the Wiki and it looks like there were others that were supposed to be in there as well..

Filming had been scheduled to begin in March 2020 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but was delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.[5][6] Cynthia Erivo, Wesley Snipes and Sterling K. Brown, who were initially cast, had to exit due to the delays caused by the pandemic.[7

The only one I would have liked to see is Wesley Snipes. Delroy Lindo was great, but I would have liked to see Wesley as Bass Reeves..Delroy was kicking ass anyway, dude was walking down the middle of the buildings, no cover or concealment just shooting everyone...

Should have been in the movie theaters..but between this movie and Yellowstone, starting to get into the westerns more..
