Soon as I saw this I wanted to drop in and see BGOL’s take. It’s heartening to see so many positive takes because this wasn’t a commercial fastball right down the middle. It’s one of those films that wants you to engage and come to your own conclusions.

I don’t mind that but that’s not always always a good thing. I’m still trying to wrap my head around most of it. I dug it but I didn’t feel it like it did Get Out.

Someone mentioned Kubrick earlier and that’s an apt comparison because Kubrick’s films get better with each viewing.

The Father, The Kids....Their cac friends....
It was kinda annoying to say the least

It's sad that Hollywood requires every Black lead to have have a white best friend, but at least Peele used the trope to prove a point.

The father, despite graduating from an HBCU, was just as much as a doppelganger to his white friend as Red was to Adelaide

There is many MANY examples of this, but going into it would mean spoilers

US have to GET OUT from the system of false reality imposed over US (snip/ scissors)...

Who's the good guy, who's the bad guy???

Watch the "Yellow Canary". In the end, she wont be as she appears...

Find Yourself as an American Indigenous Indian or in Merlin's "House of Mirrors"...

US are like caged rabbits, living in a matrix designed to keep US enslaved..

Soon, all across the land they will snip their false realities...

M'Baku was once known as a fierce warrior, now he is "civilized". His son wants to be a fierce warrior too, but is forced to wear a tuxedo...

You don't know any Carlton ass mfkrs that every now and then try to put on a "black voice?"

That's how I took it, a privileged dude with mostly cac friends trying to puff his chest out when the shit was hitting the fan.
I'm saying.....His accent changed a few times, the goofy looks goofy expressions.....was annoying

Also, some articles are already alleging that "Get Out" and "US" are in the same movie universe.... I highly doubt that, but there is speculation that Peeles's 3rd flick will tie them together...

It makes sense. If you're doing brain transplants for a longer life why not pull someone who absolutely NOBODY will miss from a place that no one knows exists? If done correctly you could even stay white forever.,

People were looking for a Friday the 13th or a Nightmare on Elm Street.

This wasn't a horror movie. It was a psychological thriller.

I am so glad that I no longer watch trailers. I went into the movie cold and liked what I saw. I see too many people complaining about it wasn't a horror movie. They are right it wasn't. But that is also not a knock against the movie IMO.

Stop watching trailers. It will really change your movie going experience.

They are... But "Get Out" is much more self-explanatory than "Us"... Together, they insinuate a warning or message.

"Us" relies much more on symbolism. Almost everything they show you from clothes to colors to words are there on purpose. Many people are going to walk out of the theater confused. Its message flies over their heads...

Us Get Out...

This movie isn’t your typical horror flick it’s much more Hitchcockian if you didn’t enjoy much of his stories this movie won’t resonate much with you either because it’s the same type of horror.

If y’all done bickering about if you liked it or not I have some questions we can discuss.

My question is who created them and why?

Also how come none of them found their way up top before?

Was the Hands Across America supposed to accomplish something or was it just her plan to get them to help her get out for revenge?

More to come.

it was a failed experiment by the government.
they don't have all the functionality of their counterparts. Red was the only one that was from up top, so she led them out.
it was her plan to get revenge.

I think I'm right but here's what I think

1.If I recall, They remained ominous, so I assume the powers that be or mkre specifically the US government, because they were hidden in miles of tunnels under the US...

2. They are tethered to their above world counterparts, so if no one up top ever went to / near the portal in ths funhouse..... But since red was from the top she knew the way.

Also if you noticed the fun house was near the carnival, but not really apart of it... And it was free.... (either meaning not many people went imto it, OR they wanted as many people as possible to go in.)

3. In 86 Hands was a really big deal. That commercial from what I've been told was on constantly across all major networks... Also, that was the shirt she wore under the Thriller shirt when the switch happened, so it was the last big thing she knew. Which is why it was her inspiration.

Also check the vid posted early I think on page 9 it had some spoilers and insight into the movie

M. Knight got:
6th Sense
Unbreakable
Split
Glass

And the rest were trash. Some were even so much trash he got two strikeouts in one at-bat
I was trying to think what this movie reminded me of. It's an M. Knight type movie to me. Best way I can explain it. It was ok.

Did You Catch Jordan Peele’s Us Cameo?
By Devon Ivie@devonsaysrelax

If you’re trying to recover from the terror of Us by combing through all the film’s Easter eggs and references to calm you down, put the scissors away and allow us to give you 40 more soothing seconds of trivia. That’s because director Jordan Peele, in a very Hitchcockian power move, revealed he gave himself a quick Us cameo that’s of the sight, sound, and mind. Per an interview with Fandango, Peele explained he eschewed appearing in Us in a physical capacity in favor of lending his voice to a dying rabbit, which occurs when the critter comes face-to-face with Lupita Nyong’o’s character in a scene we won’t spoil the details of. Well, there are a bunch of rabbits, but Peele only voiced one of them.

Similarly, in Get Out, he also voiced an injured deer — who’s struck on a country road by a car driven by Daniel Kaluuya’s character. Both cameos were made possible thanks to the comfort of a recording booth. Please, fast-forward the below video to around the three-minute mark, and enjoy Peele making spooky, screechinganimal noises as further proof of his genius.

1. It was very entertaining, so definitely recommend you go see it if you have not.
2. It was not scary for me, so I don't consider it a horror flick. More like a thriller.
3. Get Out was /is better. Not even in the same category.
4. The story is riddled with holes. And the twist is simply implausible.

Now I just need someone to tell me what EXACTLY happened to the son when he went to the bathroom? Because I still can't figure that out and I suspect it explains the ending.

i guess we can start posting spoilers now. Most people are are probably seeing it tonight, so i will still use tags.
nothing happened to the kid when he went to the bathroom, when he came out, he saw the double of the man that was standing at the gate when Lupita first went into the mirror house (the guy with 11:11 on his head). He killed his double, which is the body they saw when they arrived at the beach. the man was standing there with blood dripping from his hands, he was the first to get a kill and was standing there waiting for the others to join hands. The son was taken by Red, and it is assume that during that time, Red told him the truth about his mother, hence the look he gives her at the end.

I enjoyed the movie. The suspense was great. My only small gripe was...

the family was really making some dumb ass decisions. And how the little boy figure out how to kill his doppleganger and not tell the rest of the family (guess it didn't matter at that point as "Lupita" was the only one left)

Other than that, Lupita played the hell outta that role. Sexy mf.

I think the son was birthed by Red and got switched out during a previous family vacation.
I picked up on two dead giveaways that the son was not Adalaide's.
1. Instead of building a sand castle at the beach, he said he was building a tunnel.
2. Remember at the end, when the burned face boy backed into the fire?
Adalaide was screaming "NOOOOOOOO don't do that!!" or whatever...
She didn't want her child to kill himself.
The burned face boy was killed by his underground tether.
Red then snatches the normal boy to take him back underground where he was born.
That's why they both looked at one another like that.
The boy and Adelaide know that they both escaped from the tunnels.

nah, and a lot of people actually thought this. Keep in mind, the kids are actually "mixed" so they have tendencies from both parents.
there was no switch. The kids face was burnt because Jason kept trying to do the trick and it wasn't working, but it was working for his double, which is why his face was burnt.
She did feel sorry for each kid before they died, because they could have actually been her kids. When Red snatched jason, i assume she told him the truth about his mother, which is why he gave her that look at the end.

Or Red could have switched Jason when Ade finally found him in the locker
