“influence” or “influences”?

Per the WADA study which is used to ban the drug, it is linked to “poor decision-making.”

You say weed is a “mind-enhancer.” Where is your proof? It damn sure hasn’t enhanced your mind!!

“Did you said?”:D

You did say that if I wanted to get technically*, weed is a sleep aid, and since sleep helps recovery, then weed can be regarded as a performance-enhancer in that light**. You introduced this argument into the discussion, not me.

Indeed. For two pages I’ve requested some kind of proof or reference for anything you’re saying, and I’ve gotten……….nothing. You think it, therefore it is! :rolleyes2:
*technical

**this is an insane argument. by your twisted logic asprin should also be labeled a performance enhancing drug. this sounds more like some bias you're harboring towards "weed." If I had to guess I'd say it's probably stemming from a general disregard for "drugs" in the general sense more-so than an informed and unbiased opinion on cannibus... and the medical/criminal industry at large (you're in their zeitgeist).

Evidently these Shacarri threads have been merged so you’re responding to a post out of context. First of all, I was mocking Rudey’s illiteracy by using “technically.” Second of all, HE was the one saying that weed granted an advantage since it may control “nervousness” and “anxiety.”

Whatever BGOL says, go the opposite direction.

BGOL was writing her obituary a few days ago. Got it completely wrong. Sha'Carri is more popular than ever. This Olympics will be one of the least watched in the US.

Why do you say this?

Because she has more mainstream notoriety and support today then she did 5 days ago. And alot of folks are tuning out of the Olympics. The fucking government was lobbying on her behalf the other day! She had the Nike symbol on in her interview. The Olympics are not the end all be all, half them athletes are forgotten by the public by September. The way she's handled this so far has made her even bigger.

No matter what, we have to exist in a country where being Black comes with real-life consequences. In turn, we are judged more harshly by society, especially by our own people.

You mentioned:

No, you're not being someone else. You're adjusting your language and your behaviors to adapt to the environment you're in. For example, how you behave in the workplace is different than your behavior with your homies. That doesn't mean you are changing who you are, you're just adjusting to existing within the environment you are in. That's a code switch.

A person should be multidimensional in this world. In the case of Sha'Carrie, it is no mystery that she is hood and has hood tendencies. Cool, it is what it is. A lot of folks that come from that environment and get into the spotlight want to remain who they are WITHOUT changing their behaviors to adjust. This is less about what we WANT and more about adapting to our situations. A person must learn that adapting should be a second nature habit.

Adapting is a never-ending thing. Society won't let me be stable in the way I would like. Hell, LIFE in general won't allow it.

We can look at code-switching from the black perspective or the human perspective. The Black perspective is stimulated by racism. The Human perspective is something everyone must do regardless of race.
Bruh, I appreciate you ironing out that nuance for me.

I will be transparent: I had to come to terms with the difference between “code switching” and assimilating. They are close, but IMO not the same.

That sh!t will have you out here not recognizing who you are.:smh:

That’s very true. assimilating is very easy to do, especially if you get stuck in a particular environment for a long period of time.

Sha’Carri Richardson Is Left Off the U.S. Olympic Team

After a drug test picked up marijuana and knocked her out of the 100-meter event, USA Track & Field declined to select her for a relay in Tokyo

Team USA’s roster of track and field athletes at the Tokyo Olympics will be missing its biggest newsmaker ahead of the Games: sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson.

The 21-year-old winner of the U.S. Olympic track and field trials’ women’s 100 meters last month was left off the team named Tuesday by USA Track & Field, after an anti-doping test detected a chemical found in marijuana. Richardson was disqualified from the 100 meters, but USATF, the sport’s national governing body, had the option to select her to run in a relay in Tokyo. It declined.

“While USATF fully agrees that the merit of the World Anti-Doping Agency rules related to THC should be reevaluated, it would be detrimental to the integrity of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Track & Field if USATF amended its policies following competition, only weeks before the Olympic Games,” USATF said in a statement Tuesday.

there's always 2025........
i have a feeling that relay team won't place 1st.....
and when they dont......watch who becomes the main headline again.......

I hope so but the window for female track is very small. Only a few have been at the top of track for 2 or 3 Olympics. This maybe it for her.

I think she still have time to be an Olympian she only 21, but I’m sure there’s more up and coming hungry females out there ready to take her shine

if she stays as hood as she is her time will be short.

between the smoking, drinking, clubbing, hanging out and eventually getting knocked up she has alot working against her.

Millions flushed down the toilet that she will never recoup.

We all lost with this one. Games wont be nearly as colorful or appealing without her and her storyline.
