Billups/Douglas
fields/Chandler
Melo/Williams
Amare /Turiaf
Mozgov/ who cares

That's the Knicks potential line up. Outside the Celtics which pretty much have 1 year left and the Heat who in the East are topping that? You can trade Randolph for another Center behind Mozgov. You do this trade. Everyone and they momma believed LeBron was coming to NY. You dont assume shit. Make the trade, you're not gutting your team, you're improving it.

Can anyone honestly say that this current Knicks team is better now, than it would be if they made the trade?

You still don't get it.

How can I break this down to you.

Not everyone in they momma believe Lebron was coming to NY.

This two totally different situations.

Okay let me break it down to you like this.

The Knicks turn down the offer because they didn't like it.

That means the Knicks feel they have the advantage which they do.

One The Nuggets have to trade Melo or lose him for nothing come free agency.

Now both scenarios work out for the Knicks. the latter even so because the Knicks get Melo cheaper and without losing anyone.

Keeping their depth and role players.

Galleo coming off the bench while keeping Fields and chandler???

Come on mannn.

Then if they trade for him it will be on their terms.

See here is the difference.

The Nets were desperate they needed a superstar a face for their franchise. They were losing etc etc etc.

The Knicks are a playoff team with cap space. Even if Melo would have went to the Nets they still had shit load of cash and the class of 2012 coming up.

Not to mention Deandre Jordan who they are currently targeting.

My point. this is chess not checkers.

The Knicks are not desperate they just said no to denver.

What is denver going to do trade him to someone else??

WHO>>>>>>>:lol::lol::lol:

The Knicks know this which is why they felt comfortable saying no.

The Nuggets are the chick that gets in an argument and the Knicks are her dude.

The Nuggets walked out the door yelling they will never come back. that it's over.

the Knicks are not phased by this knowing that the Nuggets will come crawling back when they see no one else wants them.

It's a power move.

the Knicks just told the Nuggets. "We are not the Nets" We will not be gutted and this is not on your terms.

come holla at us when you ready to act right

You're being foolish. 1) This is Lebron James all over again. Teams were pulling out of bidding for him cause they were so sure he was going to NY. Knicks don't like the trade, granted. At the same time, if this trade is on the table next Thursday I guarantee you they take it. 2) What the hell makes you so sure, that if this deadline passes Melo is gonna wanna lose 20-30 million just so he can come to NY? Cause he sold his house?
Also, you are crazy if you think a playoff team won't rent Melo to make a run.

They already fucked up by even offering Felton... however the Nuggets are some dumb fucks and will end up getting nothing for Melo... I think Melo going to rid the season out and bounce.

Not really it was different. Lebron was a sweepstakes that led to the "decision" and Cleveland thought they had a chance. Denver has been operating under the belief Melo is leaving and have been focusing on getting maximum value. If this was a normal year NY would probably not even do a deal with Denver and focus on doing well this season to make the team more attractive to Melo because we would have our complete team minus Chandler. The only reason Denver has any leverage is because of the New CBA.

So right now we're negotiating to pay Melo more money. I mean you can argue its to box out competing teams but :dunno: Amare is dudes best friend and he wants a championship by playing with another star and who really has the cap space? Chicago could maybe make a pitch for him but you got that new cap coming up and a few bad contracts to keep them from really competing....

Honestly this is simple the Knicks don't have to hurt themselves in this deal and until Denver offers a deal that the Knicks feel won't hurt them in the future it won't go down.

:lol::lol:

you are the one acting all desperate like the Knicks have to take this okay.

lets break it down.

One this is not Lebron all over again.

Teams did not pull out of bidding for him because they were so sure he was going to the Knicks.:lol:

Do I need to post when the Bulls sign Boozer. When the Nets sign Travis Outlaw. When the Clippers sign Randy Foye??

People made their moves once it leaked that dude choices were either Cleveland or Miami.

then you had other teams signing players hoping to convince him.

the knicks and amare.

bulls and Boozer.

the Nets knew they were out of it when boozer turn them down.:lol:

The Knicks didn't have too much faith as you making it seem they requested a second meeting with his agents.

Also here is a key factor. Lebron was A FREE AGENT!!!!!!!! Melo isn't. This situation resembles KG more then anything.

His agent told teams this

Garnett effectively blocked the Celtics' first attempt at trading for him by making it clear, through agent Andy Miller, that he would opt out of the final year of his contract (worth $23 million) and leave the Celtics via free agency in the summer of 2008. Had the original trade gone through, Boston potentially would have been parting with blossoming Jefferson for a one-year Garnett rental.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2954127

2.:lol::lol: Melo loses money no matter what. the CBA will not be the same. Denver can only offer one more year than the Knicks.

3. Crazy what playoff team is going to rent Melo.

Dallas?? Cuban already kill that plus he is more interesting in that PG in Utah who wants to return back to Texas.

So again what team is going to rent him.

Your thinking is desperate. take the first offer you get when you have the advantage.:lol::lol::lol:

Come on

the knicks have the advantage your points still don't change this.

The Nuggets don't move Melo they are risking losing him for nothing setting their team back 10 years.

See the Cavs and Raps you think they are going to risk that???:lol:

The Knicks know this as well.

its chess not checkers.

The Nets called Denver and ask what do you want.

Denver will call the Knicks and say what can we get.

The trade is not as bad as it seems because the Knicks are still eyeing 2012 and Billups has a team option that year. A;so, the Knicks aren't keeping both Gallo and Chandler because they will be restricted free agents who will want big money that will make it more difficult to sign/ They really want to keep Landry Fields and Felton and not have to give up one their own 1st rounders.

Never gut your roster of young & improving talent to take back people you dont want or who doesn't want to be there. Billups has already let it be known that if he's traded, he wants to be bought out so he can return to Denver where he wants to retire. Melo will be a Knick by the end of the summer one way or another. Every team knows it & everyone comparing it to last year forgets that Lebron never said he was going to sign with any team til the very end. People have known Melo wanted to be a Knick since last year summer. If his wedding or him tweeting pics in a Knicks uniform wasn't enough to prove that then opting not to sign an extension with anyone but the Knicks sure as hell is enough proof. I can see why some of y'all could never be professional GMs. Y'all see the highlight but not the rest of the game that surrounds that highlight.

I want people to understand, this is not panicking. You're are trading for what a bunch of worthless player for 2 that put you into elite status. Let's say Melo does come here in the off-season and you keep everyone. What's gonna happen to Gallo anyway? He's gonna be the next AR of the team. Some is gonna get bench behind Melo coming. Felton had 1 stretch of playing well, that's when they went 13-1. What has he done since? He went from All-star consideration to not mentioned at all and being a chucker. Also, Felton is gone after next season anyway, cut your damn losses now.

According to the New York Daily News, a deal was on the table between the Knicks and Nuggets, but New York turned it down. The Knicks would've received Carmelo Anthony while they were sending Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Eddy Curry and at least one first-round pick.

Smart play by the Knicks...Felton was too much...Billups na

The parameters of a deal are set, the remaining details will be ironed out.

The proposed offer was Denver's high sell. The Knicks offer, (whatever it is) is obviously their low sell. If both parties are serious about a deal, they have a BATNA (google it) and will come to an agreement. This here is textbook negotiations.

The difference between this regime versus prior is understanding how negotiations are conducted. Isiah and Dolan are idiots and would have accepted that wild ass offer without thinking about the consequences. Donnie is patient and has contingencies in place. We won't get Melo for only Chandler, AR, and Curry, but I seriously doubt we give them Felton, Gallo, Chandler, Curry and a pick.

This won't be a two team deal. Expect Minny and surprise teams to come into the picture. Either way this will be a long ass week.

still thinking small.

Galleo goes to the bench and you have a player capable scoring 16 points coming off your bench.

You also have match up problems. Also you have players when Melo or someone gets injured. You are thinking to small. The Knicks are looking at it like this.

We can keep our players and still get Melo. That's if the trade doesn't go down. You are panicking because you are naming teams that are not evening in this as places Melo would go. Calm down. He will be a Knick one way or the other

Na man Felton is too much to give up...Danilo Curry and a 1st rounder woulda been just fine...or as the article suggested Chandler Curry and a 1st rounder...Melo will fit into the offense easily...bringing in Billups is too much...I think they really believe Felton is the future pg of the Knicks as well they should

Yeah I'm so confident with Felton going into the playoffs. I remember last year laughing at how Jameer fucking Nelson was busing that ass 4 nights in a row.

You are trading 2 players for 2 players, that's the essence of this deal. 9 days to figure this out, otherwise he's not coming.

Melo hasn't given anyone any indication that he'd sign an extension, especially with the Nets, otherwise it would have happened. Period. Everything else is conjecture and unfounded speculation.

This will be drawn out until the trade deadline.

If gallo comes off the bench what is Chandler gonna do? That's 3 small forwards you have to balance minutes to. If you watch Knick games you would know Chandler and Gallo are not good defending the shooting guard as that's not their natural position. You of all people shouldn't talk about guarantees as you swore this nigga was gonna be a Net. Nothing is solid until it happens, especially in the NBA.

How did chauncy fair against Deron Williams?? Last year.

Chauncy is old and as Clit-T pointed out billups let it be known he doesn't want to get traded and if he does he will request a buy out. So he demands a buyout and goes to the Heat or Lakers. Remember that was going to happen had he been traded to the Nets. He wants to stay in Denver because of his daughters.

So now the Knicks have no point guard.

I'd do the trade if it's

Chandler Gallo Felton Curry and a pick.

But it's Chandler, Gallo, Felton, Fields, Curry AND a pick.

They asked one player too much and that player is Fields, or whoever that third starter is, though I doubt it's Turiaf.

Keep in mind that Felton also plays a ridiculous amount of minutes & they take their toll after a while. Same thing happened to Duhon in a shorter amount of time. Nash didn't go through this cuz he had capable back up point guards who were still able to push the pace & run the offense. Toney Douglas hasn't proven that he can run an offense consistenly enough to warrant being the backup PG. He reverts to SG mode way too often. Even with Felton struggling right now, he still runs the floor well & pressures the ball on defense. Plus he's younger & cheaper than Billups.
