Just because someone is gay in real life doesn't mean that they have to make a character who was never gay in the comics into a gay character for the big screen.

Second, there is absolutely zero evidence whatsoever that concludes that this brother is gay. So, there is no point to your point.
Eternals is my favorite property and to see them change the characters and play the diversity game is hurtful. And to your point Luke Evans is gay yet usually never plays gay in movies.

This should be good and give us a preview of future MCU Celestial Beings.

Old Comic Heads like me were scratching their head on how Thanos could get his hands on those Infinity Stones and get attention of all of Marvel’s Celestial Being roster.

Mainly because they did not hold the rights to majority of those characters at the time.

With their acquisition of FOX and hopefully SONY and Universal in the near future, we will get them in future movies and series.

Looking forward to this and will be watching in the theaters for sure.

Here's a Quick Guide to Each of the Eternals' Powers

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine, and it's back with a new super trailer for all of its upcoming films! One of the most exciting projects to kick off Phase Four is Chloé Zhao's The Eternals, which will drop on Nov. 5 and feature an extremely stacked cast featuring Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden. The titular characters are supposed to be some of the most powerful beings from Marvel comics, but what exactly are their powers? Here's your quick guide to the mysterious beings!

Let's first start with a primer on how the Eternals came to be. Millions of years ago, beings called the Celestials came to Earth and created not only humans but also a group called the Eternals, or Homo immortalis, a race of humanoids with beautiful features and cosmic powers. The latter gives them all general abilities such as levitation, telepathy, super strength, and more. They're also able to reshape the molecules of the world, which means they can restore their bodies even if hurt — this makes these superhuman beings extremely difficult to kill. That said, each Eternal does have enhanced unique abilities. Here's what you need to know about each and every one!

  • Thena (Angelina Jolie): A second-generation Eternal in the comics, Thena is described as a fierce warrior with the ability to use her cosmic energy to form weaponry.
  • Ajak (Salma Hayek): Ajak, originally a male character in the comics, can communicate with the Celestials in addition to wielding special healing powers.
  • Ikaris (Richard Madden): Somewhat a Captain America type, Ikaris is the tactical leader of the Eternals who has enhanced strength and can project beams from his eyes.
  • Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani): In the comics, Kingo is a skilled swordsman who resides in Japan. In the film adaptation, he's reimagined as a Bollywood star who loves fame and can release cosmic energy projectiles from his hands.
  • Sprite (Lia McHugh): Appearing as a child, Sprite has complete power over molecular structure and focuses her energy on projecting illusions.
  • Sersi (Gemma Chan): Sersi is the Eternal who feels deep empathy with humanity and uses her powers to manipulate matter. She works as a museum curator on Earth and has been in love with Ikaris for centuries.
  • Makkari (Lauren Ridloff): The MCU's first deaf superhero, Makkari has super-fast speed — in fact, she's the fastest woman in the universe and among the Eternals!
  • Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry): The first gay superhero in an MCU film, Phastos is a skilled inventor who uses his powers to advance humanity technologically. While wielding this talent, the Eternal prefers to work behind the scenes instead of showing off his strength.
  • Gilgamesh (Don Lee): Gilgamesh is the strongest Eternal and has formed a bond with Thena after both of them were exiled from the other Eternals. Having developed a reputation for being a fierce warrior against the Deviants (the enemies of the Eternals), he can create a powerful exoskeleton of cosmic energy.
  • Druig (Barry Keoghan): Druig is described as an aloof Eternal who's separated himself from the Eternals because he disagrees with how they interact with mankind. He has the unique power to control the minds of humans and specializes in manipulating reality.
That's a stacked deck — we'll be in for a treat once Phase Four of the MCU kicks off and we meet these powerful beings on the big screen!

This is Marvel.... Not DC...

They don't give you all the good shit and basically entire movie plot in the first Trailer...

Won't probably get a peek until the Final trailer..

Who said anything about DC?

"THE ETERNALS" is pretty much an unknown Jack Kirby property.
If anything, Fans of that original 70s series want to see if that Jack Kirby "aesthetic" has been applied in this film.
That would excite them (and I) more than anything in this trailer.
Not something that looks like it's closer to the Gaiman/Romita Jr. redo from the early 2000's.
As I stated in another post,
"THOR: RAGNAROK" was the closest to Kirby's "look" the MCU has gotten.

The trailer itself (at this point) comes off too "Art-House".
But considering it's Chloe Zhao,
I'm going to see it regardless.

I know but very little about the eternals. Ive seen ikaris, sprite and b'kari in the pages of avengers books in had when I was in middle school and I've seen circe as a team member or with the team kn a few occasions but outside if rhe avengers I know nothing. Just like the movie suggests they do nothing. They just watch over the human race but don't interfere. I wonder if they'll bring thanos's brother starfox to the mcu. Also now that cap and iron man are gone they need to introduce photon(the real captain marvel) and make her team leader. C'mon marvel and give us that new avengers line up with starfox, she hulk. Hercules, black knight, namor, etc

Kit Harington’s ‘Eternals’ Character Is a Marvel Mainstay

  • The teaser trailer for Eternals showed a lot, including one brief glimpse of Kit Harington in character.
  • The movie will be directed by Academy Award-winner Chloé Zhao and will be the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • Harington is playing Dane Whitman, a longtime Marvel Comics hero with the alter ego of Black Knight.
If you were watching the first teaser trailer for Eternals, and thought you saw a quick glimpse of Jon Snow himself—Kit Harington—but with a new haircut, do not be alarmed. You are not losing it; the Game of Thrones star is, indeed, in Eternals, perhaps even with some scenes making for a long-awaited reunion with fellow Thrones star and Eternals castmate Richard Madden.

The teaser for Eternals, is, well, a teaser, so we don't get too much information on what the movie is about, or what anyone's character is really all about. But while we see multiple glimpses of Gemma Chan's Sersi or Madden's Ikaris (for just a couple answers), we really just get a second of Harington, here playing Dane Whitman/Black Knight.

One thing you can feel certain about from the trailer, though: like many Game of Thrones episodes, Eternals will be wonderfully directed. Chloé Zhao, who is the reigning Best Director Oscar winner for her work on Nomadland, littered the teaser trailer with wonderful visuals, and even Harington's brief moment next to Chan (as Sersi) is striking.

But in case if you wanted to know a little bit more about Harington's first post-Thrones blockbuster, we've got you covered. His character goes way back in the comics, but has never reached the popularity of someone like Spider-Man or Captain America. Perhaps his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe can change that.

Kit Harington is playing Black Knight in Eternals

When it first leaked in August 2019 that Harington would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it wasn't immediately clear which movie he was signing on for, or which character he would be playing. Some speculation even wondered if perhaps he could be the MCU's new Wolverine; Harington, listed at 5'8'' on IMDB (and that's probably a bit generous) would be a lot closer to the X-Men icon's comic height (in the 5'3'' to 5'5'' range) than Hugh Jackman ever was.

Alas, this wasn't the case; Harington was revealed at the 2019 D23 Expo to be playing Dane Whitman, the third iteration of the Black Knight, in Eternals. While Whitman does sound similar to Harington's iconic turn as Jon Snow, the actor seems to think that outside of some of the more obvious aesthetic similarities, the comparisons should mostly stop there. (Even just broadly, Whitman is a contemporary character, while Thrones is of course set in a different time and setting.)

"Now I'm going with a Marvel movie. I'm going on to play a superhero, which is cool. I don't know what I can say about it, I'm scared to sort of even mention it," Harington said during a panel back in 2019, according to Comic Book. "I'm trying to choose things as far away from Jon Snow as possible, but I'm playing a superhero and he's got a sword."

Who is Dane Whitman/Black Knight in the comics?
In Eternals, Harington will play a man named Dane Whitman, who has the superpowered alter ego of Black Knight (and no relation to the 2001 Martin Lawrence comedy of the same name). This is an old Marvel Comics character, having first been introduced in The Avengers #47 way back in December of 1967.

The Dane Whitman Black Knight, who Harington will be portraying in the film, is actually the third version of the character in the traditional Marvel Comics canon; the original Black Knight was a Medieval-era knight, and one of that Black Knight's descendants was a man named Nathan Garrett, who becomes a supervillain under the same name. Garrett, as it turns out, is Whitman's uncle; after he's mortally wounded during a fight with Iron Man, he gives his same gear—particularly, a mystical sword, to Whitman, and tells him to restore honor to the Black Knight name.

While he's gotten and lost some minor abilities over the decades of comics, Whitman traditionally doesn't have any powers—he's just a smart guy who's really good at swordfighting.

The character had been parts of various teams (including different forms of The Avengers, The Defenders, Ultraforce, and Heroes for Hire), but he didn't have his own solo series until 2015.

What's next for Whitman and Harington in the MCU?
While Eternals hasn't even come out yet, it's easy to speculate on the future of this character based on the long history, and the ascending status of the person playing him. Harington is a big actor, and after Thrones he's only getting more famous. And as he showed in the 2005 HBO film Seven Days in Hell, he's actually funny, too; if Harington's role in Eternals is well-received, it would be a very on-brand move for the MCU to develop a solo Black Knight film or Disney+ series. At the very least, we would expect to see him pop up as a supporting character in future movies—that is, if he survives Eternals first.
