i could never get past the height thing. He ALWAYS looked weird to me and Im not all that excited about seeing him in Deadpool. It is what it is I guess but Im more interested in the new Xmen (MCU). This shit is fanservice

I would cast someone in the 5'5-5'9 range and use CGI or forced perspective like they did in LOTR. Why couldn't Marvel pull it off now?
this.....they went with the tall stoic big chinned white guy because.....HOLLYWOOD. ii dont think a comicbook accurate Wolverine was EVER in the cards back then

I agree, Marvel did a decent job in Captain America, but it does look funny now when I go back and see it.

I was never a fan of Jackman's portrayal of Logan.

Quiet as kept, I think Shia LaBeouf could have done a decent job as Logan. He got acting chops to pull it off...if only he didn't fuck up his career.
Shia LaBeouf isn't a bad actor but I don't know if he would've pulled Wolverine off but it's a strong possibility.

TBH, I think Daniel Radcliffe would make a good Logan. He has the range and intensity to pull it off.

I'm interested to see where they're taking the Deadpool series. I don't want to see Hugh Jackman at all though. Hopefully, he won't be a major part of the film.

I remeber people felt that way early on

I thought he had finally won everyone over

ESPECIALLY after Logan.

I thought he was great.

But again I KNOW some folk didnt like the casting from day one.
I was young when he was first casted and was just excited to see an X-Men film. I knew nothing about him as an actor nor did I care to.

Looking back, I think that first film and Logan were his best portrayals of the character by far.

Overall I don't believe he did the character justice and it has been over 20 years and I believe it's time to move on with another actor. He should've let Logan be his swan song since it was a good portrayal and film. End on a good note.

I get it.

I always liked him

But I do remember ANOTHER actor couldn't get off Mission Impossible was supposed to be Logan

But I believe he was kinda tall too.

I always liked the way Hugh portrayed him

I blamed the MOVIES more than HIM for anything sub par.

Ryan and Hugh have such a great chemistry I would not mind seeing them wild out for two hours especially under the Marvel umbrella.

I think this is gonna be REAL GOOD.

*bookmarked if I'm wrong

The height really didn't bother. I thought his portrayal didn't do the character justice. It may have been due to a combination of both acting and writing though.

The character started off pretty one dimensional but was accurate as far as capturing the personality of Wolverine and there was room to grow.

Personally, I don't believe they developed the character as well as they should and just sexed him up and turned him into a male model without any of the complexity the comic or even the animated character had.

For instance, you never see him wrestle with his more animalistic nature or really come to terms with the fact he was a human lab rat.

You not wrong but again I think that was more about script production and direction.

The bond Logan shared with Morph in the 90s animated series, such as dealing with Morph's apparent death, which was completely invented for the show, was some of the most moving performances you'll see on TV much less on an animated kids show.

The films had none of that until Logan, some 17 years after the character debuted in a live action film.

I don't deny this but he's the face of it. If the character isn't portrayed well, then much of the blame, fair or not, falls on the actor.

Wow I truly being exposed

cause I thought he was always good the x men movies were hit and mostly miss

the first one (and the second kinda) will always be special to me because it introduced the era of the serious super hero movie

salute to Blade

I saw some in the theater and remember the audience enjoying them.

I THOUGHT I was a big X Men fan but I apparently never gave it THAT much thought.

I will try to do a rewatch because I am not qualified to mount a proper defense of Hugh Jackman portrayal of Wolverine.

I will return... eventually

I didn't like Logan. It depressed the hell out of me. After all they suffered through and fought for they still ended up scattered and captured. After I saw that I was like Professor X was wrong. He should have listened to Magneto and chose violence.

I absolutely adored that movie. The relationship between the characters came off as completely authentic. Taje away the superpowers, it could've been a movie about any down-on-his-luck schlub.

It was a good way to say farewell to Hugh Jackman's portrayal of the character which is why I don't want to see him play Logan anymore.

"In what feels like a different timeline ago, at July’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel chief Kevin Feige put the pedal to the metal when he outlined five Disney+ shows for 2023What If …? season two, Echo, Loki season two, Ironheart and Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Now, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Loki season two and the Samuel L. Jackson-led Secret Invasion are the only sure bets to debut this year. Even projects that wrapped months ago, such as the Hawkeye spinoff Echo and Wakanda Forever spinoff Ironheart, are unlikely to arrive in 2023 as the studio spreads out its content and tinkers in postproduction. And shows in development, such as Nova, are now on a slower path.

As a point of comparison, during its Phase 4, Marvel Studios released a breakneck 18 projects across theatrical and streaming: four films and five TV shows in 2021; three films and three TV shows in 2022; plus a few specials. (The studio released just 11 projects from Phase 3, which ran from 2016 to 2019.)

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige echoed the new direction. “The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change,” Feige told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published this week, noting that there will be fewer shows and that they will more spaced out.

Good this means they'll go easy on their special effects artist and they'll have more time to perfect and not rush and put out low quality shit like black widow and love and thunder. phase four felt like marvel lost it's heart and soul and was just mass producing products instead of making quality film and television.. I guess those investors ffeige met with lit a fire under his ass and he decided to rite the ship. Slow and steady paced producing is better than just throwing half assed projects at us at a fast pace James Gunn is also taking it slow and using quality control to build the dcu. This is good give the film industry Tim to breathe instead of flooding the market with cape shit. Less is more.
