I think they should also take the parents or legal guardians home like they do for illegal drug sales. If the child is a minor or lives with the parents. Sue the parents and bankrupt the family.

IF laws are enacted, the U.S. already has twice as many guns as people. Any effect of common sense gun laws will take literally a generation or more to reach fruition.

I agree with a lot of that and is why I believe every gun owner should take a class. The problem would be the gun training aspect especially if it's government run. Based on how things already are now, I can definitely see it being made more difficult for responsible citizens in lower income areas to have access or be able to afford classes and they're the ones who'd need it more.
Personally I took the conceal carry class as soon as the opportunity was available and recommend it to anyone I know who either already owns or is on the verge of owning a firearm so they learn the laws. I also made sure to get carry insurance as soon as I acquired my CCH. You don't need to have a cch to get insurance as it would still cover you in the event you use your firearm but I didn't learn that until later on.

I felt a different way today my grandkids always hit me up after school and I panicked a little when one didn’t only cause her phone died, I can imagine how my sons and daughters feel.
