Their statement that pissed him off.
Honestly, it's probably too late. The original concept was for Biden to be a one term President, and that he would get the country back on track while the Democrats use that term to groom/sell a replacement for him four years down the road. The Rays statement is commendable much respect to them... The decision that desantis made was in place well before this statement was published... desantis is playing the long game - his goal is to continue to build the surplus in state money so he can use his "fiscal conservativeness" as leverage when he runs for president... Along with the Rays facility funding being denied, he also denied the funding for a youth program, road infrastructure, and a hospital facility... I believe he went after Disney to "flex his muscle" the he can go up against the big companies, same thing he did early 2021 with the "Big Tech" social media companies - knowing full well that it would be an uphill battle against them...
Democrats better get their shit together and find that 1 presidential candidate to support that has some just and ethical qualities about themselves because if they don't or try to run it back with Biden, desantis is winning that election... I've started looking more into it, but Gavin Newsome seems like a viable option - I'm saying that mostly because he helped that Black family get back Bruce's Beach

You make some valids points indeed... Dems are definitely annoyingly more reactive vs proactive... I will say tho, I don't think it's too late to prop up a candidate that would garter votes - but they need to focus on winning the midterms before propping up their next candidate... My reason for saying it's not too late - trump was a sure fire reelection going into 2020 - all in one year COVID and the effects of the George Floyd situation had a tremendous adverse affect to his bid... IMO, Kamala was never going to be a true option, she was good for the optics, but her being villified as VP for doing nothing of public worth when historically that has been the situation with most VPs, confirmed to me she never had a chance at president... I don't think today's GOP is the same let's stick together for whatever bunch as the past... At least from I can see in the primaries these last couple of weeks, they have a lot of infighting going on, 45 created a deep wedge in that party...Honestly, it's probably too late. The original concept was for Biden to be a one term President, and that he would get the country back on track while the Democrats use that term to groom/sell a replacement for him four years down the road.
But the Dems got cozy, and they really think that arguing that they aren't "the other guys" will be enough to keep them in control. Right on cue, the coalition broke down as soon as anything remotely non-standard entered play, and everybody went for their own thing. It's really almost too late in the election cycle to build a candidate of any substance (they should have started that year one). Kamala seemed like she would have been the choice, but they pretty much made her a ghost these past two years. Right now, no one is standing out as "that person", and the GOP is still ready to vote in pretty much any asshole that survives the primary just to take out a perceptively weak Biden (who should not run again, but definitely will run again).
I wouldn't underestimate his positioning... I think what gives desantis leverage, he's able to appeal to both the trump worshippers and the traditional republicans, while a lot of other republican candidates nationwide are too busy trying to align or distant themselves from 45... Like @T_Holmes said the party will vote any asshole in and to me while are fractured, desantis is that one asshole that could possibly unite them...He is trying to do the same shit with Disney yeah this guy is a very thin ice for reelection
Well the traditional Republican has a lot of money tied up with Disney. This where the crap is going to hit the fanI wouldn't underestimate his positioning... True, but that bullshit decision he made against Disney, doesn't necessarily affect their financial revenue stream, it mostly affects the power they held on self-governance... The financial impact affects the mostly liberal communities that surround it... It had very little to do with hurting Disney's pockets, but let's say it does, my point is that regardless of how republicans are impacted desantis has the ability to overcome that challenge and still unite those factions... The whole Disney commotion is literally just a whisper now, they've moved on to other topics - the surrounding community tried to sue desantis over it, but the judge denied their case recently... 45 was vocal, full of lies, and very reactive - desantis is vocal, cunning, and proactive - these FL crackas love that shit...Well the traditional Republican has a lot of money tied up with Disney.
