Yep this is it in the nutshell if people really want to see stronger gun laws they need to vote in more democratic senators. Eventually something has to give of work guns in this country because we are the only industrialized country with this issue even worse than a lot of third world countries.
It depends on the location, but school PD usually has jurisdiction on school grounds. Now, I say "usually" because I believe that in almost every situation I can think of locally, the school PD here and anywhere else I can think of would defer to local PD (even ask them to take charge) in a situation this extreme.I still don't understand what or why a school police officer is running an incident like this.

Don't know if it was addressed in the thread or not, but why were they telling local cops and border patrol what to do?
This is probably one of the other issues they were having that day. Jurisdictional issues can very often lead to confusion, especailly if there isn't a standard established for mutual aid.

A local SW OH fire department just did the same a few days ago. They raise money by perpetuating the idea that AR style rifles are great to have just because.

The word I am hearing is that the local police were told to stand down and contain the shooter. This fool was not going out alive. Sometime the FEDS can go off books such a pedophiles (Jeffrey Epstein), terrorists, bombers (Boston Marathon) and mass shooters to send a warning message. They want to send a message to the next mass shooter what is in store for them which is a body bag even if you surrender. They did not want a photo of him being brought out after killing children in a elementary school which is what local police would have done.
When you step into an elementary school the FEDS take over automatically, the role of the local police is to contain you while they prepare for the kill shot.
The guy connected to the Boston Marathon bombing was 'questioned' by federal agents, they claimed he resisted and is the reason they pumped him full of bullets. Anwar Al Awlaki was incinerated with a drone strike.
Federal Agents don't have to wear body cameras and limited visibility into their actions. This was an extrajudicial killing as far as I am concerned.

It's only late Spring and it's already HOT. The death toll this summer from gun violence will probably dwarf Russia-Ukraine casualties.
