No, they get paid off, I believe the settlement from Sandy Hook was one of the largest in US history...

CNN article

(CNN)The families of five children and four adults killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting have reached a $73 million settlement with the now-bankrupt gun manufacturer Remington and its four insurers, the plaintiffs' attorneys said Tuesday.

But nothing in the government really changed so that they can say they tried to prevent the next Sandy Hook. The fucking band just played on.

The US is the ONLY advanced country with easy access to these weapons and also the ONLY country with mass shootings by these weapons monthly.

But somehow the access is not the problem.

How about we try what the people who don't have this problem are doing for a while.

People also ignore or never hear about all the times where responsible gun owners prevented a crime or defended themselves from being the victims of crimes as well. There are significantly more responsible gun owners that malicious ppl who use them for malicious intentions. They don't make the news cuz negative news attracts more viewership/subscribers
So how the fuck do you know about them then?

Where were they today? Where were they in Buffalo? Why do 15,000 people die to gun violence a year here as compared to 50 in Japan. If you're putting the onus on "responsible gun owners" to stop this shit then you niggas need to step the fuck up and stop it or else we need to start suing you niggas for not stopping it.
Lmao. Well damn

And there lies the problem. The government will spend money when it has no recourse in order to keep it functional but what about spending money to help improve the impoverished areas where crime runs amok? They can't appease their constituents and actually keep their promises to improve the quality of life in the lower economic areas at the same time can they? We already know the answer to that rhetorical question
Agreed. That’s the lie they sold to everyone back in the 60’s and called it the American dream.

The actual problem is the people who actually believe that these “representatives” are here for them.

Many times, people are only believing in these lies whilst the actions of history have proven them to be wrong every single time. There is no fixing or repairing quality of life or bringing back the middle class in this shithole.

France has nuclear weapons and have never used them against anyone. So Iran and Afghanistan should be able to get them too since the nukes aren't the problem

Stop trying to make sense. People want their guns. And any argument removing them from their person, regardless of the logic behind it will be met with resistance. You can show all of the countries that have banned guns & the number of gun violence statistics that support gun bans. And all you'll be met with is...what about knives or a criminal will find a way rebuttals.

Monthly is generous it's more like daily.

Because I actually do my own due diligence instead of settling for what the media or politicians put out only
Lol so you canvassing for stuff you just said went under and at times completely unreported? When, during your lunch break? Holdiays? Weekends?

I'm afraid this claim might go knock-kneed under scrutiny.

Yep. We see it every day right now with Republicans vs Democrats. Bills are being presented from both sides that actually make logical sense and are being rebuffed just because of which party came up with the bill. And voters blindly vote loyally along party lines even when they know the politician from their party is a piss poor candidate. Same shit different laxative every time

Same here. A lot of people would be surprised at how many other people they come across and interact with every day who own ARs or are conceal carrying at that moment and didn't have a clue.
What would suggest we do to prevent people who shouldn't be armed from being able to get a gun?

You don't have to believe me. Just look at your typical local news. It's almost always littered with negative reports regardless of the city or state where you live and the feel good stories get minimal to no attention. If you believe otherwise then you're being dangerously naive

Extreme example but even with your example if no one is hurt and it is not illegal Iran and Afghanistan have a right to defend themselves

Lmao we've seen this movie before. People will be scared and allow the government to do what they want in the name of safety (patriot act) and the only people who will be hurt by whatever gun laws they decide to enact will be black and brown

I come on here regularly asking how those checks and balances are working out for folks ...

Sadly, this is yet another opportune moment.

a solution is to prepay for a coffin for your kindergartener.
What's a realistic solution? Armed security at every school which will cut company profits?

Banning guns? which will open up un smuggling

Can't have cops at schools full time, too expensive. Security Guards and their rusty guns won't cut it, too little ammo and no real incentive to give a fuck, they'll take off once it goes down.
This country is really now in the shitters. We wanted gun, we got guns.
They don't like guns you can make at your home.

You made a statistical claim with no stats to back it up. You just defaulted to straight up conjecture and even that didn't provide any concrete examples. "Just watch your local news for unreported stories. Non news events.... there's your proof."

... Like what?

Hell naw I don't believe you hoss. How can you blame me?

The system to stop that is actually already in place. Part of the problem is the lack of communication between departments. All too often after an incident we hear later on that this person or that person was under investigation but somehow city or county officials weren't aware of it and the person ended up slipping through the cracks.

Another part of the problem is some states still have racist based laws in place that go back to Jim Crow era. NY is a shall serve state meaning that they use their own discretion to allow for a person to get a firearm. That was used to prohibit black ppl from buying firearms for years on top of years.

The current system needs an overhaul and that starts with acknowledging that they've dropped the ball too many times. Federal, state, city and county need to be on the same page so that no person is able to go in for a purchase where a flag doesn't go off if something isn't right about that person. The question is whether the government will ever admit these shortcomings and make the necessary changes.

And you don't think that lack of communication is by design? You have a party here that rejects red flag laws and universal background checks. There's a vested interest in keeping that lack of communication between departments in place.
