I have seen what they built at Walter Reed. They wont allow these kids to fuck up all that money....and if Trump gets in, its gonna be brutal

We looked at a couple of spots over there. But what's interesting is that as you go up GA Ave that far & 16th you don't find as much foolishness going on.

That among others. Walter Reed took up a lot of space. I think they got a Whole Foods there so you already know big money is on the line.

Yeah they do a lot of outdoor events in the park area behind that McDonald’s too.

The CVS in Columbia Heights just closed, they were robbing that joint left & right, then setting up outside with tables full of for sale. The WAWA that was over there last barely a year or two, the Five Below is closing also due to rampant theft.

They need to start dropping the hammer on these folks, they need to lower the amount & start hitting these folks with felonies & after 2 arrest you get mandatory jail time.

Armed robberies, assaults, vandalism & car jacking should result in mandatory jail time & you have to serve the full term, no pleas just plain jail time. As a resident of the city I'm sick & tired of the dusty morons who have no morals, value for life or common sense.
Well, you know what’s going to happen in 20 years. You going to have folks coming back and being revisionists and saying it was too harsh. That’s what they’re doing to Biden and Hillary even though the black community was asking for stiffer penalties for crime in the late 80’s and 90’s. It seems that’s why democrats don’t want to look like they’re hard on punishing crime even though that’s what’s needed — stiffer penalties!

I can’t imagine calling for more black people to be locked up while bemoaning the good old white folk who were unjustly smeared for putting blacks in cages. Couldn’t be me.

Yeah the Whole Foods is open, I hit it from time to time. Waiting for more of the restaurants to open also.
Fam and I just moved to Woodbridge, I work on Bolling and thinking about taking the VRE to work. Is the VRE a safe option? I'm from ATL, but this D.C..crime hit different.

Man you down in Hoodbridge..lol

Yeah the VRE is safe, mainly white folks coming up to DC from VA. I used to catch the MD version (MARC) when I was dating a chick that lived in Odenton. Never had any issues & caught it early & late.

You'll have to catch the VRE to Union Station, then hop on the metro Red line to the Green line get off at Anacostia Station. Bolling may have shuttles that run from the Anacostia metro station.
I wonder how many people Slug from Woodbridge to Boiling? One of my homies at work use to do that from Fredericksburg to near K street

Is it the mayor's fault?

Honestly what can be done about it? I ask because I wanna know.

If I roll up on a corner. See four people that I don't like, shoot and

drive-by-50cent.gif

What can be done to prevent that? Have cops on every corner? Have cameras on every corner?

They're damn near getting to that point with the cameras in many big cities.

But what would you like to see done to change it or what can be done?

Ultimately, it's the mayor's responsibility to make decisions for the city, so yes it's her fault as well as the city council. If the city needs to become more of a military state to address the crime, that is what needs to happen.

That said, stricter penalties don't address the root cause which are poverty and the idle minds of the youth. Over the years, the goal has seemingly been to bring in more money while pushing the unwanted out. They knock down low income housing and claim they will rebuild them or ensure a balance. From what's being reported, the projects are torn down for years and when the new condos/apartments are built the amount for low income tenants are reduced. Imagine living in poor and unsafe conditions, the neighborhood being rebuilt, and it's safer only for people to say oh that's not for you.

As a kid I remember people calling the police and no one showing up or taking forever. When more white people moved into the neighborhoods, you couldn't as much as sit on your front porch or stand in front of your house without police showing up. Imagine if they had that level of care when it was mostly Black people. The best you'd get at certain points is when they would have all hands on deck weekends and they more or less worked. As a teen, alot of us bearly wanted to be just outside because of the increased police presence.

From my observation, the juvenile system was a joke across the DMV. People would get caught and sent home. They'd just be on house arrest if that. Even if they were sent to a Boys Village, they treated it like a playground and would be in and out. They weren't being reformed as much as held. If you went to one of the boot camp style juvenile facilities, you may really learn a lesson, but you are going back to the same environment so most went back to old habits over time. The kids become adults who commit worse crimes. Even if you want to change and get a job, companies hold your criminal record against you so you go back to what you know. I'm not sure if this has changed, but I thought you couldn't even get financial aid for school with a felony.

Although I could see it being abused like most for profit prisons, I wouldn't be opposed to long-term military type facilities for violent juveniles. Trade schools should be available and students should have paid apprenticeships. Kids take alot of pride in saying they are from a certain neighborhood. The mindset has to change to them viewing their neighborhoods in a more positive light. If you are helping to build and maintain the neighborhood ,you are policing your neighborhood etc.. it becomes more than who does the most crimes or which should be feared. Every youth needs to have some level of responsibility and hopefully that care of the community carries over to adulthood.

Nothing but stiffer penalties can be done about it The problem is these muthfuckas don’t have no code, no values, and no morales and their mother’s don’t either ( they don’t know their fathers) and their grandmother’s have a little if any. This is the first time that black folks are experiencing this no code, no morales, and no values from a big part of our population. It use to be you had a couple of bamas that had no chill and was off the hook. Now it’s pretty much commonplace.

So it’s a real disconnect between her and the residents esp the Washingtonians who have lived their all their life.

I was talking to my homie about this the other day who is a third generation Washingtonian, was a teacher at a few schools in DC, and worked at DC Parks and Recreations for probably over 20 years before going into teaching.

The punishment for the kids is a slap on the wrist when they do some dumb shit. Kids seeing their friends Rob and steal, get caught, and back in the neighborhood the next day. Definitely bigger punishments need to be handed down. Also, these kids are mimicking GTA and bringing it into the streets knowing they will not get into serious trouble.

Also, he mentioned how Michelle Ann Rhee whole school reform was a major disaster in dumbing down kids at schools where mostly black kids attended.

Ultimately she is continuing the plan of making DC a city of elites where the poor and black folks are ultimately going to have to leave.

Coonser is def disconnected from lifelong Washingtonians & that's sad seeing as though she's one. She's def in the pocket of the developers & gentrified YT's. Rhee was a total disaster & simply here for a money grab, screwed shit up & bounced.

I agree, definitely needs to be stiffer penalties for crimes. Specifically armed robberies and carjackings. But yes crime in general.

You're right also about people and morale, people are just getting shittier and shittier.

You're right there's definitely a disconnect with her and the people. She'a about progressing the city financially but not investing financially in the people.

And yes, definitely stiffer penalties on crime, especially seemed robberies and carjackings. Whether the person's a juvenile or not.

And yes, she making it a place where the current residents will no longer be able to afford to live there.
