Oh shit ... it's not a shark season movie entry, but it does appear to be another instant cinematic classic.

This movie was funny, most of the time. This is only going to be a one and done for me.

Stamped from the beginning

This documentary covers the various causes and affects of racism. From the rapes of the black female slaves on the plantations, the trans-atlantic slave trades, and emancipation proclamation. This documentary is from the point of view of primarily black female scholars.

I would recommend this documentary.

4/10

I watched the Netflix film “Leave the World Behind” which was put out my Sam Esmail. I recently discovered that he acknowledged the movie ties into the series “Mr. Robot” and the film also ties into this film Comet and a series that is on Amazon called “Homecoming”.

So I decided to watch this film last night before going to bed on tubi.

It is a Rom-Com, but doesn’t play out like the standard ones that are lovey, dovey and sweet. It is an odd film.

The film has an opening statement that states it takes place in a parallel universe. This is brought up somewhat in the film along with how it plays out showing the relationship of the couple spanning 6 years.

The time jumps will definitely throw you off while watching. But because we have been informed they are in a parallel universe it makes sense.

I couldn’t really find any connection to Mr. Robot which came out a year after this film. The closest connection I could see is the characters talking about MTV and its impact on society.

The film is a slow burn. If you watch it, don’t go expecting anything cuz there isn’t anything really there. The final scene confirms the parallel universe.

Watch only for curiosity. If you find any connections to Sam’s other projects, please let me know.

I’m getting ready to start watching “Homecoming” tonight on the free streaming service FreeVee. It came out after Mr. Robot.

Synopsis

A cynical lad (Justin Long) and a young woman (Emmy Rossum) begin a 6-year relationship after meeting by chance during a meteor shower.

I listen to their podcast ... it's pretty good. Usually hosted by 2 - 3 of their staff.

BAD BAD BAD

This is one of those bad movies that has to be seen to be believed. It's legendary bad from the acting to the absolutely horrible SFX. It's amazing to watch people sit through it like i did, to laugh at and be as horrified as i was at absolutely everything that happened in it. I hear it was made for ten grand but it looks like it was made for ten bucks.Another crazy fact there are four sequels out there !! Some people call it the best worst movie ever and i completely agree.

Watched this last night before going to bed.

I went into it not expecting much after watching and reading the description, but the film actually played out better than I expected and kept me glued to the screen.

They did a good job opening the film and doing all the character development with Fassbender doing the narration as he was prepping to do the job.

From there the film held a steady pace of suspense to the final scene.

Not much for action except for a hand to hand fight Fassbender had with a big Samoan looking mofo. The fight choreography was done well and it came off believable. It wasn’t No over the top, cartoonish “John Wick” fight.

Seeing how Fassbender operated as an assassin thru-out the film like a “James Bond” operative was also interesting and impressive. The film overall had the same feel and premise as George Clooney’s cult classic “The American”.

Overall it was an entertaining film. It left off for a possible sequel.

Synopsis

Solitary, cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, a killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. Yet, the longer he waits, the more he thinks he's losing his mind, if not his cool.

Checked it out yesterday and enjoyed it too.

It's definitely a slow burn for stretches, but the quiet tension was appreciated. You weren't having to suspend your disbelief as much as is often the case with many action / suspense movies.

Fight sequence was definitely well-choreographed with the house getting trashed.

Also checked out this movie the other day. It was pretty good and better than expected.

Good to see the likes of Pierce Brosnan and James Caan (in his final film role) playing their age(s). Believable. BGOL fam' will recognize a few of the supporting cast (Wikipedia links below).

Funniest scene is also the most darkly comedic involving "Donut".

Most outrageous character in the movie is the former mother-in-law. A real piece of work. Foul-mouthed. They should have had a few more scenes with her, lol.

There's also a great scene involving a laundry chute. Really enjoyed that.

Ending was predictable and formulaic though.

It was ok I guess. I liked the first one and this one wasn't as good that. CGI was good for the most part.

Jason Mamoa is a good Aquaman, but it was too jokey like Thor. Blue Beetle had better comedy. Mamoa and Patrick Wilson had good chemistry.

It was too long and seemed to drag. At an hour I looked at my watch and was sort of turned off I still had half to go. All that family shit could have been reduced.

It's a mid credit that's whatever.

Saw it too. It was good. Some sleepy eye moments though.
