Goodrich

PRAISE: Life can throw numerous curve balls at a person all at one time. Andy Goodrich (Michael Keaton) is experiencing the aforementioned when it comes to his family and business. This is a well acted cozy feeling movie. Not only does the cast including Mila Kunis as Grace,Laura Benanti as Naomi
Michael Urie as Pete Vivien Lyra Blair as Billie , Nico Hiraga as Jonny and Carmen Ejogo as Lola click on all levels but also mostly all of Writer and Director Hallie Meyers-Shyer script. I think all of the life is going one way and things are looking up but yes people are going to dissapoint you paths worked for eighty percent of the movie. Goodrich is a character that realizes things about himself what he did in life was admirable but also lacking in some ways and his family got the brunt of the lacking but I admired the character for trying to do better and truly being there. I liked that I was completely thrown off by something that happens in the film and i chalk that up to good writing and the way a character was presented.

PROBLEMS: There's some late in the game anger and turmoil that I couldn't get on board with that comes from a character. I thought it was uncalled for because of who it was directed at and because of the actions the character had taken in throughout the film definitely wasn't deserving of being on the receiving end of that anger.

Scale of 1 to 10 an 8

The Order

Based around true events of a couple of FBI agents and locals taking down an Aryan group in the pacific northwest during the 80's. They were robbing banks, counterfeiting money and committing murders in an effort to get up for a war.

Really good movie. One thing I was worried about was the N word flying, but we just get called spooks a couple of times and you see the N word on a flyer. It didn't make me feel that comfortable being around white people.

Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult and Tye Sheridan did a great job. Oh yeah, and Gay Pac's sister Jurnee is in it.

I'm not sure if I liked the ending though, because it sort of portrays Bob(Nicholas Hoult) as a martyr. Good movie that kept my attention.

Hollywood is obsessed with hiring British actors to play Americans with southern accents.

I Frankenstein

Decided to give this a watch. I remember when this came out and I thought it was a crappy B movie but surprisingly it's not, it looks like it was done the same visual effects team as Underworld and even has some of the same actors. It's pretty predictable and you can easily tell who the bad and good guys are but its entertaining if you like the genre.

LOL

I chuckled quite a few times... great take on the eighties Aerobicise era....

Glad you liked it!

Funny side note - when you mentioned the 80s era, I immediately thought about this series. It looks like it ran for 3 seasons and wrapped up last year, but I only caught a season and change of it. I need to circle back at some point. Thought it was pretty good. Rose Byrne is the lead and does a good job with the inner voice / narration of sorts too.

I recommend what I saw of the first season and a few eps ...

28 Years Later is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Danny Boyle, who co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Garland. It is the third installment in the 28 Days Later film series, following 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). Cillian Murphy reprises his role from the first film and stars alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O'Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding. It is also the first film in the series not to be produced or distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Produced by Columbia Pictures[3] in association with the British Film Institute, Decibel Films, and DNA Films, 28 Years Later marks the returns of Boyle and Garland as director and writer after they served only as executive producers on the second film. It is scheduled to be released in the United States by Sony Pictures Releasing on June 20, 2025. It was shot on an iPhone back-to-back with its sequel 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, which will be directed by Nia DaCosta, written and produced by Boyle and Garland, and starring Murphy.

Nia DaCosta (born November 8, 1989) is an American filmmaker. She rose to prominence when she made her feature-length debut as a writer and director with the crime thriller film Little Woods (2018), winning the Nora Ephron Prize for Female Filmmakers at the Tribeca Film Festival.

After working on other projects, most notably directing two episodes of the British thriller series Top Boy in 2019, DaCosta became the first black female director to debut at No. 1 at the U.S. box office for the weekend opening of the horror film Candyman (2021). She then became the first black woman to direct a Marvel Comics film when she directed The Marvels (2023), which became the highest-grossing film directed by a black woman but was simultaneously a box-office bomb.
