The buckets, which were designed to resemble the sand worms in the sci-fi Dune universe, quickly became a source of ridicule once they were revealed. Many believed it to resemble a certain human orifice, and some intimated that it could be used as a personal sex toy. Even Saturday Night Live got in on the fun and produced an entire sketch about the popcorn bucket.

When reflecting on the marketing move in an interview with Variety, AMC's chief content officer Elizabeth Frank admitted the NSFW comparisons were definitely not expected. "We continue to learn and evolve. We would have never imagined the Dune thing. We would have never created it knowing it would be celebrated or mocked," she sincerely stated.

When you posted the article about the popcorn bucket, I started laughing thinking back to the Porn Director podcast. Used to listen to that show years back, and one of their episode features was (if the pornstar was cool with it) having her strip down and spread that ass. They would explain to her how close to perfection (a "dime-sized asshole") she was, and explain the spokes around the backdoor entry point, etc. It was pretty funny. One of the co-hosts was dating Adriana Chechik in her prime at that time too ...

My DVR is set up to record anything from legendary writer Ray Bradbury. It recorded this film last month on cable and I watched it this morning at home. This film is based off his book.

This film is one of the first films Disney put out when it was slowly moving forward from its standard policy of family friendly live action/animation content and moving into more adult/mature content.

It’s a horror/thriller, not much for horror or suspense. Nothing for graphic violence or anything close to hardcore. It’s basically PG clean and could be shown on network TV with today’s standards. Disney back then was still hesitant going hardcore along with censorship standards back then was still conservative unlike today.

The film is definitely overdue for a reboot making it more hardcore and graphic being censorship standards have laxed. Disney is currently putting out hardcore content and they own the rights to the film. With them owning Lucasfilm/Industrial Light & Magic, they can do this film justice.

It has a good cast of recognizable actors from the era. Jonathan Pryce is looking young and GQ as Mr. Dark. Pam Grier co-stars, she has a small part and that legendary body is completely covered up. Disney kept them boobs covered up. She still was in her prime when this film was made.

If you are a fan of Ray Bradbury, you should enjoy this film.

Synopsis

A villainous carnival owner, Mr. Dark, preys upon unsuspecting Midwestern townsfolk by granting wishes, but for a price.

My DVR is setup to record Jayne Mansfield material. It recorded this film earlier this month and I watched it this morning at home. She is the main reason I watched it.

It’s a crime thriller for the era it was made. Edward G. Robinson stars in it and does he trademark acting style sounding like a 1930s Gangster. He has a few good one-liners in the film.

Jayne Mansfield has a small appearance. There is one scene showing her in a black suit that gives a good view of her classic “Jessica Rabbit” body.

Deforest Kelly (Dr. McCoy, Star Trek TOS) has a bit part at the beginning.

The film has a number of recognizable actors from the era from TV/Movies.

It’s a decent film to watch to kill time.

Synopsis

A former district attorney (Edward G. Robinson) becomes a racketeer's lawyer and uses his client's mistress (Jayne Mansfield) to expose him.

I watched this version this afternoon at home on MAX.

The original I reviewed earlier was 3 hours. This one is 2 hours.

They consolidated the story down and merged some scenes/characters together to shorten the film.

A number of characters are portrayed differently than the original and a couple of new characters are added.

Unlike the first film, the scenes with the children showing up outside the bedroom was not presented as creepy as the original.

They also presented the kitchen scene differently and it didn’t come off well.

But what made up for the above was the last hour of the film. The pace picked up fast and the film went into “30 Days of Night” territory. The first film did not delve into having an Army of vampires running around, this film went into that direction and did a decent job.

There is a 11 year old Black kid. In the original he was a White teenager. The Black kid will seem annoying in the first hour, but he becomes the best character in the 2nd hour.

Overall, it’s a decent remake of the original. It’s faster pace being the merged scenes/characters.

Synopis

When author Ben Mears comes back to his childhood home in search for some inspiration for his next book, he discovers that people in his home town are mysteriously turning into blood-sucking vampires.

I watched this flick this morning at home. It came out 6 months ago and I finally got around to watching it.

Nothing much to say being the premise has been done a number of times over the past 20 years in a bunch of B-Movies.

VFX/SFX is ok. Not on the level of Netflix’s “Lost In Space” series. It’s clear Netflix is cutting back on their effect’s budget.

For the Thirsty, Jennifer Lopez only has one scene at the end where we get view of her legendary Ass and thick thighs.

They somewhat left it off for a sequel, but I doubt it will ever happen.

Synopsis

A brilliant data analyst with a deep distrust of AI finds it may be her only hope when a mission to capture a renegade robot goes awry.

I watched this flick this evening at home on Netflix.

It’s a Blumhouse flick, they have been pumping out horror films for some time.

The premise has been done in the past, this film puts a different spin on it focused around artificial intelligence.

Not much for suspense, but just enough to keep you watching.

I will say after watching it, if you have a Alexa in your house, you will pause and debate about keeping that thing.

It’s setup for a sequel, but I doubt it will happen.

There is an end credit scene immediately when the credits roll.

Synopsis

Curtis and his family are selected to test a revolutionary new device, a digital assistant called AIA, that takes smart homes to the next level. As AIA begins to learn everyone's behavior and anticipate their needs, it soon makes sure nothing and no one gets in the family's way.

The Bridge at Remagen

I watched this one this morning on tubi. It’s been sitting on my list since last year and finally got around to watching it.

It’s a pretty decent WWII action drama.

Good suspense to keep you interested.

Combat action is Hollywood, that should be expected. But it looks good with the VFX/SFX. This is also the first war film depicting tanks doing what they do best by breaching obstacles. I’m a former M1A1 crewman and it impressed me.

The film has a all-star cast of recognizable actors from the era.

tubi has a good clean copy.

Looking for something to kill time, put this on your list.

Synopsis

Fatigued by the long combat in Europe, Lt. Phil Hartman (George Segal) and his men are ordered to advance on Remagen, a possible toehold into enemy territory. Meanwhile, Maj. Paul Kreuger (Robert Vaughn) of the German armed forces is ordered to defend the town and the nearby bridge across the Rhine. As a desperate battle commences, Hartman and Kreuger both find themselves pawns of larger forces and witness how war can turn each side against itself.

The House of the Devil
2009

7.5/10

This film popped up my Google homepage when I opened it back in September. There was a review on it stating it had the potential to be a horror cult classic.

I watched it this afternoon at home on tubi. It’s a suspense/horror film.

The film is set in the 1980s. It’s intentionally filmed with a grainy look to make it fit for the era. And it works perfectly for this film.

The first hour is a slow burn allowing it too build up in suspense, but the film picks up soon after that and holds the pace to the final scene. There is plenty of graphic violence at this point of the film.

If you are a fan of classic 80s horror films, you will definitely enjoy this one. It’s vintage horror material.

Synopsis

Desperate to make some money so she can move into a new apartment, college student Samantha Hughes (Jocelin Donahue) takes a mysterious babysitting job. When she arrives at the house, Mr. Ulman (Tom Noonan) mentions a full lunar eclipse and explains there is no child, but that Samantha will be watching his mother instead. After exploring the sinister-seeming house, Samantha soon comes to realize that her employers are hiding a horrifying secret and have plans to use her, dead or alive.

This is the sequel to the film I reviewed earlier. I watched it this afternoon at home on tubi.

It’s not as good as the first, but still interesting. Like the first film it’s an anthology film.

Besides the primary story, there are 8 short stories thru-out the film. There is one story that is in Spanish. You have to watch and pay attention to it to understand what is going on.

Violence is graphic thru-out the stories.

Synopsis

Alone at Halloween, a young woman finds a VHS tape on her doorstep. As she watches the tape, she witnesses a collection of gruesome tales, each more unnerving than the last.

PRAISE: Based on the graphic novel by Richard McGuire,Director Robert Zemeckis and writer Eric Roth form a journey through time from one setting in the world that actually surprised me of how effective it was. Even as the movie dips in and out of different periods in time sometimes abruptly of the lives of d various characters that occupied the home setting of the movie,I did find myself becoming involved. The
Cast including: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery, Gwilym Lee, Ophelia Lovibond, and David Fynn do the most with the time given as the characters they portray go down different paths in life. Some putting away dreams when responsibility and stability are needed and necessary and some that don't. I liked that the movie touches on various climates, conditions and tragedies of the world and just life itself. Some that I've gone through on a personal level which made the movie very relatable at times. Also the fact that I wanted to see what was happening to certain characters with success and tough decisions that had to be made. The Music by Alan Silvestri was as effective as ever

PROBLEMS: Some portions of the movie had the vibe of the drawn out corniness of a twelve act stage play with some unfortunate cringe acting tied to it. I thought that some moments were to on the nose predictable.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 7
