Your welcome brother, and this week offers The Martian,The Walk,Legend and i may get around to seeing Grandma which alo has received a lot of buzz

HELL YEAH I MEAN do they hold the microphone boom to far away from the actors or something?? then the friggin commercials come on full blast !!!!!!

Right on re: the new releases. The Walk and The Martian are definitely being well-promoted with the contests out there online. Check for them in the States too as we're getting a fair number here in Canada, and ya'll have x10 the population & way better sweepstakes/prizing √

Funny you should mention audio/volume and how the commercials come blaring in on networks. So true re: peoples' complaints over the years, and how things are regulated, etc. Oddly enough ... The Fight Network here in Canada always has LOW VOLUME and you have to crank up their channel. Not sure if that's just here, or across provinces. Funny you should have to TURN UP the volume for MMA/BOXING/WRESTLING to hear better ... and then turn it DOWN on major networks like NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS

THE MARTIAN

There are plenty of Earth bound Ridley Scott films i have loved Blade Runner,Gladiator,Someone to Watch Over Me
to name a few,but there is just something about his Sci Fi space adventures and thrillers that really appeal to me
From the tech, spacesuits, and vastness of a planet it's always great to behold.
In The Martian RS gave me all of the aforementioned and then some.

Mat Damon is great as astronaut Mark Watney, thought to be deceased after a severe storm on Mars causes an accident
his friends and fellow astronaughts leave his"remains" behind ,but when they and NASA find out he is alive, the mission becomes
all about his rescue and survival

This is an all around great movie, sharp and interesting script by Drew Goddard based on Andy Weir's 2011 novel, and its
also laced with a good amount of humor and with some great edge of your seat moments ,and an outstanding cast which includes
Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Sean Bean, Benedict Wong, Mackenzie Davis, Donald Glover,Jessica Chastain, Michael
Pena, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, and Aksel Hennie.

This is Ridley Scott at his best

99 HOMES

Michael Shannon who turns in another great performance is the Gordon Gekko/Alonzo Harris of real estate in 99 HOMES
As greedy as he is heartless,he evicts people from their homes as if he is just cutting the grass.
A single father Dennis Nash (Andrew Garfield also quite good)comes into his radar after evicting him,his mother and son
from their home.Dennis has certain skill sets he needs and its not long before Dennis falls under his spell of shady doings, money,
and heartlessness. This film holds up a mirror to our times and the housing collapses that occured, heartbreaking and tough
to watch at times, but a very good film.

THE WALK

Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a fine job as French aerialist Philippe Petit, who wire-walked across the 140-foot gap between the Twin Towers
in 1974.
Though Director Robert Zemeckis narrative decisions and the way some characters are cartoonishly portrayed and written took me out of the
film a few times Petit's bravery, determination and love of life is inspiring. His walk between The Towers and 3D is breathtaking and sharp for the most part.
The film also has a nice tribute to what was supposed to be forever

Thanks, fam'. That's one of the best things about online forums and message boards. Immediate feedback from people ... the barbershop. You know something is dope when it gets showered with praise (i.e. - Straight Outta Compton movie in recent months). Most of us grew up on late-80s/early-90s hiphop ... so it was great to see all the discussion about the movie in various BGOL threads √

Had a chance to check out Love & Mercy on demand a few days back. Enjoyed it. If you like the Beach Boys (and Brian Wilson's) sound ... you'll definitely dig it. Focuses in and around the time of the making of the Pet Sounds album, Wilson's mental health concerns, and dealings with people in his immediate circle. Well-acted by Paul Dano (playing Wilson in his early-20s or so), John Cusack (Wilson in his late-30s to early/mid-40s or so), Elizabeth Banks, and Paul Giamatti.

"Love & Mercy is a 2014 American biographical drama film directed by Bill Pohlad which focuses on musician-songwriter Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys. The film, deriving its title from the 1988 song by Wilson, is presented in a parallel narrative covering two specific time periods in Wilson's life: the 1960s and the 1980s. Paul Dano and John Cusack depict the young and middle-aged Wilson, respectively, with Elizabeth Banks as Wilson's second wife Melinda Ledbetter, and Paul Giamatti as Wilson's psychotherapist Dr. Eugene Landy. Love & Mercy was distributed in the United States by Roadside Attractions, beginning June 5, 2015. The soundtrack, Music from Love & Mercy, was released on August 14, 2015.

The film premiered in the Special Presentations section of the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.[4][5] It received critical acclaim, with reviewers praising the film for its unorthodox approach to biography, original film score by composer Atticus Ross, Dano's convincing performance as the increasingly unstable Wilson of the 1960s, and scenes which closely recreate Wilson's advanced studio recording methods. The real life Wilson – who had little involvement with the film's development – called it "very factual."

Critical reception

Love & Mercy has received positive reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film is rated 89%, based on 158 reviews. The site's critical consensus reads, "As unconventional and unwieldy as the life and legacy it honors, Love & Mercy should prove moving for Brian Wilson fans while still satisfying neophytes."[97] On Metacritic, the film has a score of 80 out of 100, based on 40 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[98]

Several reviewers described Love & Mercy as distinctive from typical biopics.[7][71][93][99][100] Both Dano and Cusack's performances received praise,[7][71][78][99][101] with some naming Cusack's portrayal one of his best performances to date,[100][102][103] and Dano's as Oscar-worthy.[104][105] Other highlights included the original score by Atticus Ross,[7][99] cinematography by Robert Yeoman,[7][99] and the film's depiction of the songwriting/recording process.[78][106] Many publications awarded the film a perfect score,[nb 6] while reviews speculated that the movie would be a contender for the Academy Awards.[112][113][114]

The film was listed as one of the best movies of 2015 by TIME[115] and by Rolling Stone whom also deemed it "one of the best music biopics ever".[116] Consequence of Sound said: "Not since Anton Corbijn's Control, his excellent 2007 retelling of the life and death of Ian Curtis and Joy Division, has a biopic felt so authentic and conditional of its own subject."[71] NPR wrote in an analysis of recent music films: "Love & Mercy makes a fascinating leap by suggesting that the Beach Boys auteur constructed his inimitable soundscapes as a way of dealing with auditory hallucinations — making pop songs that go deep, in part, because they were designed to converse with the voices in his head."[117] The Hollywood Reporter reviewed it favorably, calling it "a deeply satisfying pop biopic whose subject's bifurcated creative life lends itself to an unconventional structure … [Cusack's] effectiveness [is] limited only by his lack of a physical resemblance to the songwriter. That will be a stumbling block for some fans, but those who can get beyond it will find a very fine film about a singular artist."[100]

The Guardian awarded the film three stars out of five, praising Cusack and Dano's performances, but criticizing the film's "neat" portrayal of Wilson's mental illness and other aspects of his life.[101] IndieWire gave the film a B+ and wrote that, while Landy's character lacked depth, "It's fascinating to watch the songwriter dash frantically around the studio, orchestrating a dozen sounds into auditory unity that only he understands. No matter what else happens in the plot, Love & Mercy excels at placing the music front and center."[52] An additional review by the publication wrote: "[T]he film has plenty of love and mercy for its subject, but also some edginess, in what is a fascinating look at one of popular music's most important and influential songwriters."[118] Maclean's took issue with the film's glorification of Wilson, claiming that it reduced from "biography" into "hagiography", yet maintains "the soundtrack is unimpeachable, and Pohlad offers a riveting look at how Wilson crafted such aural wonders as 'God Only Knows' and 'Good Vibrations'."[102]

The publication Biography felt that the film's source material "inadvertently" reiterates plot devices used by typical biopics, and that, "For better or worse, Brian Wilson is suitably charismatic when he’s absolutely bonkers and hearing voices, and relatively boring after he’s supposedly cured by a new drug regimen and his wife’s benevolence."[119] Grantland was less enthusiastic, writing that the film's characters were treated too graciously in contrast to Giamatti's Landy, in order for the 1980s scenes to remain interesting; however, the treatment assures that "the 1960s sequences work because they use the musician’s damaged psyche as a creative spark", something which Dano excelled at during his performance."

Thanks, fam'. Have been lucky with the movie screenings/premieres over the past decade plus. Wish they offered more ROE passes to go on one's own time, as like you said it's often on an odd night (mostly Mondays or Wednesdays). Or occasionally they'll do a SUPER advance screening and have done them 3 - 4 weeks ahead of time for whatever reason (with heavy security). That said ... definitely gotta pick what contests you enter and are more likely to enter for stuff closer to you or @ venues you're already familiar with for parking and driving time, etc. Fuck all these random-ass screenings now that are across town early-evening ... no interest in getting stuck in traffic, trying to find parking, standing in line and all those other headaches. Gotta pick one's spots wisely or "rent them from the online video store", lol.

BRIDGE OF SPIES

During the cold war years of the late 1950's and 1960's it always seemed that the United States and Russia were always on the
edge of a nuclear war.But there were always people that would bring them back from the edge.In 1957 one of those people was
James B. Donovan, a lawyer who specialized in insurance settlements, who was asked to defend KGB spy Rudolph Abel
reluctant to do so at first because of all the uproar and hate that could and was displayed towards him and his family
But when American pilot Francis Gary Powers is shot down and captured during a CIA spy mission Donovan finds
himself negotiating for the release and exchange for both men

Bridge of Spies is not an action packed fim,but it has a great script by Joel and Ethan Coen that is intense and
terrificly laced with humor and heart Tom Hanks turns in one of his best performances and Mark Rylance is outstanding
as Abel.Director Steven Spielberg gives the film all the right pacing and attitude of the 1950's

Did Vin Diesel cut a deal with The Asylum or something..? This film kind of looked like something that came from their studio

Vin plays an immortal witch-hunter who is tasked with the job of coming between the covens of New York City and their goal to destroy humanity by way of a horrific plague.

Film was so-so,it also appears that Vin put his D & D playing days to good use..wasnt feeling Elijah Wood's priest character, who IMO looked as if he belonged in a different movie

It's a good eye-opener for the younger folks looking to get into camming or porn careers, etc. I.E. - the crowd that thinks it's all fun, partying, and easy $$$. Some of the subjects featured quickly realizing it wasn't the life for them ... an easy watch too at just under 1.5 hours.

just finished watching it. it was aiite.

a couple of thoughts:
- the barriers to entry for amateur pornographers (i.e. the producers and male talent) is slim to none. why isn't there more competition?
- i think webcamming is the next step after they leave the porn industry. some might even go into bartending, the stripper circuit, fitness competitions, etc.
- webcamming will start taking more of the slice of the porn pie.
- why hasnt a father come and start blasting "Riley" at the house yet?
- there could easily be a sequel to this with the camming industry, the suicides, etc.
- some of these girls leave the industry and still hustle flesh on instagram. https://instagram.com/therealavataylor/

Good summary, Paul. Yeah ... there's definitely plenty of money to be made with the private sessions in camming. Plus you factor in other stuff like pornstars and camgirls with their Amazon wishlists, sugardaddies, suitcase pimps, and private/personal videos for fans/members,etc. Good money to be made from your house/bedroom without having to leave the house/

Extremely predictable action romp with Liam Neeson returning as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills,
