That falls on D'Antoni too. Being a great player between October to April don't mean nothing if your coach can't change up in May. Just like how we saw the Raps shut Giannis down last year. Until the debate format that became popular the majority of the people discussing basketball for decades was white men. That was far more dangerous. Now it's better, so I'm not seeing all of this hypercriticism you're referring too.
I think it starts at the beginning, black kids who like basketball, how many are encouraged to be writers and reporters?
With the debate format of TV and podcasting it's helped us gain more of a voice, but it's still behind, because we were behind with blogs and podcast. It's the same way with rap music. The majority of the people covering and writing about it are white. With that though, you had AllHipHop and 2 Dope Boyz and a couple of others. There has never been a large scale basketball equivalent from black people. That's why I'm glad more former players are getting in to podcasting, like CJ, Gilbert, Danny Green, Vince, Caron....

I hate when they're reporting on someone and just say that guy went for 12, 9, 14 last night. Like 12, 9, and 14 of what!?! If you're going to bring up the stat then identify what you're talking about. Not all triple and double doubles are the same. A player getting 4 steals & blocks isn't the same as someone getting 10 offensive rebounds that their center let them have.
And I couldn't give a fuck less about +/- or assist to turnover ratios. It's like all the baseball gambling nerds saw an opportunity through DraftKings to use those same pointless stat lines to start making money betting on NBA games. They probably don't even watch the sport. They just have countless excel spreadsheets filled with nerdy sounds statistics.
I think all them white reporters are getting secret kickbacks from DraftKings and FanDuel. Having those analytics makes the average joe feel like they have some inside track to make 'smarter' bets. So more people end up using those services.
