Lake Show with a nice win over the #2 team in the West in their house tonight. That should quiet the "they havent played nobody" talk for a bit.

Anthony Davis for DPOY. Leads the league in blocks and shut down Jokic late.

Lonnie Walker snapped tonite.. Westbrook went Westbrick. Cat had like 20 points on 30 shots (how is that even possible?). .. And Harden jacked 40 shots and made only 10... But he had like 30 FTs.. :hmm:

Most odd shit of the nite tho was an entire ref crew missed a basket... again, how is THAT even possible!?

Harden is averaging 40 a night but is shooting a low 43% from the field and is averaging 15 FTs a game. That isnt sustainable in the playoffs. Houston has to play better defense as a team or they are gonna run Harden into the ground.

Gave up 140 to a struggling Spurs team.. 115 in regulation.

For 50 points.

I don’t know why the NBA refs insist on giving Harden these calls knowing he ain’t going to get them in the playoffs.

I strongly agree.

I've been saying there should be an "Offensive Player of the Year" award just so MVP doesn't function as that by default. How silly is it to just have DPOY and MVP? I think just having an OPOY award would drive home the point that MVP is about more than offensive production.

That sir, I can rock with and it makes perfect sense.

So would your MVP be best player on the best team, or the player that is most valuable to his team's success?

I think you can make a case for both-- the more successful the team, the easier the case is to make. But generally, I think somebody leading a team to a playoff berth that it can be argued would not have been achieved without him is more impressive than being the best star on a team with multiple all-stars.

It's an interesting argument and I don't think you can choose one or the other and apply it to every single season. But I think the most important thing is "best player" means "best player," not DPOY or, as it is most often confused for, OPOY.

Anything below 45% isnt good for a volume shooter IMO. He's at 44% for his career. Nights like tonight dont help.
Harden is shooting 44.6% from the field, over 30% from behind the arc, and on pace to break steph's 3 pointers made in a single season record.

I understand people's dislike for Harden but Jesus this man is having a historic year and you're here nitpicking about tenths of a point in field goal percentages???

The only way this man will ever satisfy some of you guys is with a ring, and even then you'll still find something to bitch about.

This is not a good take, bruh... it's factually incorrect and shows that you watch more YouTube clips of Harden vs actual games.

Harden is a good on ball defender and plays the passing lanes well. His main weakness is off ball defense and it's especially exploited when his man takes off on back cuts or runs thru multiple screens.

And to think peg any "superstar" player as a defensive juggernaut is foolish... and please don't bring up Kawhi...

I'm assuming your not putting Joel Embiid in that superstar category then. Which would be wrong of you if you aren't. Cause dude is an excellent defender.

At this point its the only thing he hasnt achieved that would really validate his career. I dont think you can expect people outside of the Houston market to be in awe of his regular season performances if its not duplicated in the playoffs. Harden is 30, weve seen him average 36 a game and lead the league in assists. Him averaging 40 is impressive but not if they aint winning. The year he won MVP, Rockets had the best record.

And I dont have anything against Harden, pointing out his FG% could be higher and that the team is running him into the ground again isnt hate.

Again with the fg%, you're just nitpicking to be honest. In the 2010s he's at 46% from the field and over 35% from 3 point land... the only reason he isn't at your personal benchmark for volume shooters over his career is because of his rookie year (09-10) where he shot 40% from the field.

And it's not about making him liked outside of Houston, it's simply me growing tired of dudes saying things that aren't factually accurate. The only thing you can say about Harden I won't dispute is he hasn't won a ring. Everything else, statistically, shows Harden being one of the best scorers and most efficient offensive players in the NBA since MJ, Kareem and Wilt.

Actually 43% is low compared to all time great perimeter players not named Kobe.

Now you can break down the degree of difficulty of his attempts but the percentage itself is low.

Doesn't take away from his game though.

Bro honestly, Embiid is an underachiever.
He should be averaging 30 and 20. What center in the league can check him? KAT? Drummond? Gobert? Two of those guys he only sees twice a year and the other isn't nearly as gifted as him on the offensive side of the ball.

43% isn't completely accurate tho...

44.6% from the field this season, and 45.67% career if you take out his rookie year.

Oh I agree 100%. I blame Brett Brown for that if anything. Not threatening to fuck him up and bench his ass if he acts like Steph Curry shooting 3's and hanging around the 3 point line en shit. You mentioned the overall game is perimeter oriented now. That's not necessarily a good thing. Especially for a guy like Embiid. Your constantly seeing guys shooting 7 for 30 and it's ridiculous. :smh: Embiid's ass needs to stay on the block. He is absolutely unstoppable there. If the simple muthafucka did that he would be averaging 30 a game. He is a phenomenal defender though no question.

Yeah I think to the TNT pregame today they were talking about Porzingis... Kenny and Charles were like "coach Carlisle needs to put him in the post more" and Shaq jumped in like "nnnooooo he needs to take his ass to the post they don't need to put him anywhere." Same goes for Embiid. If I was the coach and he shot a jumper or any shot not from the block I'd make his ass run stairs during the fuckin game.

I agree. This shit is absolutely maddening. Sixers make shit harder on themselves having Embiid on the 3 point line. Now you see they've been beating the shit outta people the last few games when Embiid stays low. That's the formula for sucess for this team. Fuck what everyone else is doing.
