Beale is good enough to get paid and show up to work when he ain’t hurt. Like Dame, he’ll never put himself into a position to have to win so he avoid being criticized for not being as good as people think he his.

I feel like this should be the tagline to a book about all those players in the league who were able to prosper in Lebron Shadow. while he took the brunt of the attacks about player empowerment, etc they were able to be big fish in small ponds never really winning but in many cases making MORE than him.

Beal is a very good player. Just grossly overpaid. Also isn't nearly as good as Dame.

that was my point

but even that VERY good which I used to say all the time about Beale too?

I think we have been WAY to generous

Or maybe your right and we have just overrated him unfairly?

What Should The Wizards Do With Bradley Beal?
What Should The Washington Wizards Do With Allstar G Bradley Beal?

I think it is safe to say that Bradley Beal is the most talented player on this Washington Wizards team. Not only is he the best scorer on the team, but he’s one of the best scorers in the entire league. Bradley Beal contributes both on and off the court. He is a pillar to the community as well as a stronghold to his team as he is averaging a team high 23 Points Per Game.

It is very easy to become frustrated with a player in the NBA. Some guys take nights off where they don’t play due to “load management.” If they do decide to play, they take it easy and it is very noticeable from the eye test. However, Bradley Beal isn’t in that category. If he misses a game, he truly is hurt or maybe even sick.

Bradley Beal has missed a great amount of games this season - USA Today

They say the best ability is availability. With that being said, Bradley Beal has already missed a total of 15 games this season. Surely, that has a lot to do with the struggles of the Washington Wizards. Some people may want him traded. Well that’s not going to be an easy task with his no trade clause. Bradley Beal actually left last night’s game vs. the Milwaukee Bucks after reaggravating his hamstring injury.

Hamstring injuries are very sensitive. They come and go all season if they’re not treated properly. So what should the Washington Wizards do with Bradley Beal?

They need to rest their most prized player. Have him sit out at least a month to get this injury contained. It will continue to get worse as he tries to fight and play through the pain. Bradley Beal simply needs time. The Phoenix Suns are handling their most prized player the right way as he is recovering from a similar injury (Groin). The Wizards team doctors and decision makers need to take notes and allow Bradley Beal time to heal.

Cons
Beal’s three-point shooting efficiency has continued to decline since the 2016-17 season. He hasn’t shot above 36 percent from deep since the 2017-18 season and shot a career-low from there this past season. It is also the first season where Beal had a significant injury since the 2015-16 season. Beal missed the last two months of the season due to a non-whooting wrist injury which is quite serious though he and the team maintain that he will have a full recovery.

Finally, Beal is expected to opt out of the last year of his contract ($36.4 million in 2022-23) and enter free agency. There is a lot of hearsay on what he may or may not do, but Beal is leaning toward signing a new extension that could be up to five years and $250 million. While every NBA player should sign for as much money as he can, that also comes at a time for a franchise that doesn’t have the cap space or the reputation for signing many All-Star players outright in free agency.

Washington Wizards: deep dive on Bradley Beal this season

by Gibson Lowenberg1 month ago Follow @GibbyLowen
While he may have become a controversial figure in Washington athletics, Bradley Beal has had a quietly productive season for the Washington Wizards. He has been willing to share the spotlight of the franchise with new co-stars and it has largely worked out for him.

While most fans gave Beal unending support before his new contract, even supporting the amount of money he would receive, the no-trade clause caused many fans to turn on the franchise player. The Wizards have made it clear that they want to compete for a championship, for better or for worse, and they believe that he is the key to that goal for this franchise.

This decision put a huge cap on what the front office can do with the roster as they don’t really have any great trade assets. They also can’t trade any of their picks until after the draft for the next few years due to a deal with the New York Knicks that causes the first selection they have that is not in the lottery (up to 2026) to go to them.

That combination has made much of the blame for the franchises inability to move almost anything to fall onto Beal’s shoulders. Even if it’s not really his fault. This has caused some to overlook the season the two-time almost scoring leader has had.

The efficiency of Bradley Beal this season has been ridiculously good for the Washington Wizards.
While his points, assists, and rebounds are all down from last season, Beal has seen a resurgence in his efficiency. He is shooting 5.7% better from the field, 8.2% better from three, and slightly better from the free throw line. He is also producing more blocks, less turnovers, and roughly the same number of steals per game. All while playing three less minutes per game.

These are huge improvements and likely due to the fact that he now shares the floor with two other high caliber scorers in Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis. They have opened up the floor for Beal and it is showing in the stats.

His usage rate is the lowest it’s been since he played with John Wall. Another symptom of playing with other good players. This is despite Beal being an incredible all-around scorer and being an underrated playmaker.

Beal is taking shots from everywhere on the floor and is hitting shots consistently from every distance. No distance on the floor takes up more than 26.4% of his shot attempts and no distance takes up less than 14.5% that is about as evenly spread as you can get in the modern NBA.

On top of this, he is hitting 77.3% of his shots within three feet of the basket, 48.6% of his shots from the 10–16-foot range, and 50% on his deep midrange shots. This is insane efficiency when paired with his 38.2% from beyond the three-point arc.

Even better, he is getting back into the catch-and-shoot game as 73.2% of his three-pointers made are assisted on. He is also creating for himself as a majority of his two-point field goals are not assisted on.

On top of this, his advanced stats support how good Beal has been this season. his PER is 19.9, his win shares are at 3.1 and his box plus/minus is +2. Even better, the advanced stats also say he is an ok defender, his defensive win shares sit at one, although his defensive box plus/minus is -1.3. The eye test will, however, say that he is a subpar defender while occasionally being a bad one. Still far from the worst defender in the league.

Bradley Beal has become one of the most well-rounded scorers in the league. The fact that he is willing to share the keys to the franchise with stars like Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma just goes to show why he is the player the franchise chose to lead the way.

Definitely. For a decade, LB took the brunt of the criticism in the east. But it’s been 4 or 5 years since he left the east?

“Better without Gobert?- In 304 possessions with KAT on the floor but without Rudy Gobert, Naz Reid, or Jaden McDaniels, the Wolves are +9.5 points per 100 possessions, good for the 95th percentile in the NBA per Cleaning The Glass.

With Gobert and Towns on but Reid and McDaniels off, the Wolves are -6.2 in 264 possessions.”

Bullshit homer fluff piece. @therealjondoe and a few others will tell you i had a 2 year running discussion on the looming Beal free agency and it all played out exactly how i said it would. Shit show organization arent serious about winning. Just using the team as a cash cow and half ass placating an annoyed fanbase.

It's weird, after all these years we still don't know how good he is, or ever was, because he never had to do shit that was meaningful. That's pretty rare. He has no memorable moments of putting the team on his back.

It's like he enjoys his season being over a month early from everyone else. More vacation time and time with family before he goes back to work

It made no sense to take this job.

Dude was coming off a coach of the year, even after getting fired. He made his money I guess.

It seems a lot of black coaches seem to rush to take a job, when that job is going to be shit. Detroit started in one direction, and then went in the tank direction, and then once you do a good job of being shitty with your shit roster. They go in another direction when they actually get talent.

Same with Silas Jr, you get Wall and Harden, and then you get 19 year old kids.

He complacent and secure at his job. They never asked more from him and he doesn’t give them any reason to do more. He isn’t that dynamic, but he can score enough points to get paid millions.

He could have been serviceable to a lot of teams needing his talent and shooting abilities. But players like him I feel like are truly fearful of the criticism when pressured to win.

But he gets paid well, so I see why he would change.

Minnesota could have just drafted Walker Kessler if they wanted a shot blocker with little offense :smh:

They traded, what four draft picks for a 30 year old center that gets played off the court in the playoffs
