Fans of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are old timers rooted in ideals from last century. Boomers and Gen X believe being a bitch for corporate America and winning your boss a bunch of money is the highest measure of success.
Mike and Kobe were driven to win the Reinsdorfs and Buss' chips because they believed it would gain them white acceptance. It's a different time and era. Guys make 60 mill a year and have more pride in their heritage than those dickheads. Winning Gold for your country and being declared the best in the world is the highest honor. And that's a belief shared by everyone, including Team USA. Steph even said this summer is more special than his chips. It means more. MJ competed against foreign pros ONCE and Kobe had to be convinced to play for Team USA at age 29.
