Dan Ambrose: Former two division world champion Paulie Malignaggi (36-7, 7 KOs) showed that he still has a little left in the tank tonight in dominating Gabriel Bracero (24-3, 5 KOs) in beating him by a one-sided 10 round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The final judge’s sores were 96-94, 98-92 and 98-92.
Malignaggi used his jab exclusively to box the 35-year-old Bracero’s head off for 10 rounds. Malignaggi was able to use a lot of feints to keep Bracero off balance through the entire fight. It was embarrassingly easy.
Despite winning the fight, Malignaggi looked slow and not the same fighter he’d been in the past. Malignaggi looked rusty, which isn’t surprising because he’s not been fighting high caliber opposition since last year.
Malignaggi is thinking of trying to drain down to the lightweight division to see if he can compete against the top lightweights. It’s possible if he lose the weight without being weakened. He has the skills to beat a lot of the guys even when rusty like he was tonight. The main question is whether Malignaggi can lose the weight. If can, then his success will be determined on whether he winds up weight drained from the process of losing weight. Malignaggi has been fighting at welterweight for the last five years, and it’ll be hard to get down to 135.

The final judges’ scores were 99-89, 98-90 and 98-90. Farmer lost a point for a punch below the border in the 8th. In the 9th, Redkach lost a point for a clash of heads. This was a surprise loss for Redkach, as he came into the fight as the favorite to win. But he not only was beaten, but totally dominated as wel
