And I remember some folks on here talking about Deontay Wilder still should've went over there and fought him regardless of the test results :smh:

Who you got in that fight?

Golovkin, but I'll be pulling for Danny. Danny's power gives him a great chance against anyone, but his chin is worrisome.

I think Danny's only shot is to go for broke early. I can't see Danny's chin holding up to Golovkin's power.

I got this as a 50-50 pick em or maybe a 51-49. From last year up until about a month ago, I thought GGG would would win easily. But after the Kell Brook fight and watching the development of the negotiations and monitoring Jacob's demeanor, I don't think its going to be that easy. Golvkin is the overwhelming favorite and rightfully so but I can't say who would win outright, and that's a good thing. This fight is shaping up to have that Thurman-Porter feel for me.

So do I. Let's keep it 100: this is the first real test GGG has had in a long time.

I may throw money at this one. It's too good to pass up.

EVER!!! In my opinion. lol

I got this little DCAF that works for me...he doesn't watch the sport unless Golovkin is fighting. Little shit is arrogant as fuck and don't know shit about boxing. I'm trying not to get into it with him because he's like Trump, you can't say anything critical without him taking offense. But it'll be a nice gift for me to go to work the next day and lecture him about how Golovkin has been nothing but hype until he got in there with a real challenge

Yall see this as a 50-50 fight? I don't see Jacobs as being special enough to beat GGG...he is a good fighter but I think it will take someone that is special in one particular area to beat this dude...Jacobs is a very good overall fighter but I just don't see that one thing that is superior enough to beat GGG

Golovkin is talented, but he's not as good as his supporters think he is. I don't think Jacobs isn't the guy to beat him. He loses concentration a little too much for me. Against a guy like Golovkin spells disaster. However, I think Jermall Charlo will be the guy. That guy has the best jab in boxing since Ike Quartey. I'm big on consistency. He consistently hurts guys with his jab alone.

I agree with this. Plus GGG gets hit too cleanly for me. His supporters says he does that on purpose, i say its bullshit. No fighters want to get punched cleanly in the face. Once he fights a good fighter with some pop he's going to sleep.

Agree with this statement

Ppl have to understand when u undefeated u didn't learn how to lose yet so just based off that GGG gonna fight his ass off to remain without a blemish on his record. Ppl are willing to whip it into another gear when it's comes to their mental cause they believe they can't be beat its going to take somebody that's better talented to beat him even tho Jacob's is good I believe he might not have that talent to pull off the job. I think Ward has it therefore he woulda demolished GGG cause he has the skills, the talent, and also haven't learn how to lose thus far in his career.

The Ward/Kovalev bullshit continues: Kovalev is acting like a little bitch now by getting a new trainers and indirectly blaming JDJ for the loss:

He's also blaming him for the low PPV numbers:

Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn: Fight Date Announced, Comments and Reaction
Manny Pacquiao ended his brief and unofficial retirement when he took down Jessie Vargas by unanimous decision Nov. 5, and he's reportedly set to re-enter the ring with a 60th career win in his sights.

According to ESPN.com's Dan Rafael, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said Pacquiao will fight Australian Jeff Horn (16-0-1) on April 22. The site of the fight has yet to be determined, but Arum told Rafael it will likely take place in Australia or the United Arab Emirates.

There was some buzz that Pacquiao's next fight would pit him against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a rematch of their May 2015 clash—in November, Arum estimated there was a "75 percent" chance the two would fight again, per Rafael—but those plans have yet to come to fruition.

Instead, Pacquiao will square off against the undefeated Horn, who has won 11 of his 16 fights via knockout.

The 28-year-old will be seeking his biggest win to date when he squares off against the WBO welterweight champion. And if he pulls off an upset, there are indications Arum could have big plans for the Aussie sensation.

According to the Australian Associated Press (via the Guardian), "Arum has been enamoured with the former schoolteacher and 2012 Olympian ever since and believes he has the ability and image to carve out a U.S. fanbase."

But when it comes to selling April's fight, Arum and Co. figure to have a tall task ahead of them.

Interest in Pacquiao—now 38 and well past his prime—has waned since he was dispatched by Mayweather, and pay-per-view numbers confirm that.

According to Bloody Elbow's Fraser Coffeen, Pacquiao's fight against Vargas was his least viewed bout since a 2008 contest against David Diaz. All told, the fight did somewhere in the neighborhood of 300,000 buys.

Based on those numbers and the fact that his next fight will reportedly occur outside of the United States, it wouldn't be a surprise to see viewership dip again.

Canelo Alvarez to meet Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in long-awaited Mexican showdown May 6
By: Mike Coppinger | January 13, 2017 3:00 pm
1600x900

The all-Mexican showdown fight fans have clamored for for five-plus years is finally here.

Golden Boy Promotions announced Friday that Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will meet on May 6 in a HBO Pay-Per-View event. Alvarez will move up 10-plus pounds for the bout to be contested at a catch weight of 164.5 pounds.

There’s no site secured yet, but Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena and AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, are under consideration.

“I plan to shut him up,” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) told reporters through Golden Boy president Eric Gomez on a call with reporters Friday. ” … He talks so much about me. He speaks bad about me, he’s criticized me so many times. I’m going to prove in the ring who the better man is.”

Alvarez, 26, has headlined a PPV show six times, most notably against Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto. The Mexican star is boxing’s biggest draw, and his highlight-reel knockouts have caught the public’s attention.

After beating Cotto to win the lineal middleweight title in 2015, Alvarez knocked out Amir Khan before dropping back to 154 pounds to win a title with a KO of Liam Smith in September.

A bout featuring Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is the biggest that can be made in boxing, but it’s going to have to wait, and the plan remains to stage the fight in September, Gomez said. For now, though, it’s going to be Canelo and Chavez in what shapes up as the first truly big boxing event of 2017.

“If it’s not the biggest, it’s one of the biggest in the history of Mexico,” Alvarez said. “I’m only thinking of Chavez Jr. right now, I’m not thinking down the line. I won’t make that mistake. It’s a risk moving up in weight, and so many things are coming up after this fight. In order to have a big fight you need to have risks.”

And though Chavez’s name has clearly lost some luster, he still presents risk with his size and punching power. In his lone PPV main event, a 12-round decision defeat to then-middleweight champion Sergio Martinez in 2012, Chavez was outboxed for 11 rounds before he dropped Martinez in the final round.

The lasting image of the bout is Martinez stumbling around the ring in a desperate attempt to make it out of the fight.

Since then, the son of a Mexican legend’s career has been derailed by weight issues, injuries and a suspension for marijuana use.

Chavez (50-2-1, 32 KOs) topped Bryan Vera in his first bout after the defeat, but missed weight even though he moved up a full division. Though he won, the decision was controversial. Chavez rebounded, however, with a clear victory over Vera in the rematch, and this time, he made the 168-pound limit.

Chavez, 30, moved up to light heavyweight for a battle with Andrzej Fonfara in his next bout, was dominated and stopped in the ninth round. He’s fought twice since with wins over fringe contenders Marcos Reyes and Dominik Britsch.

“I dedicate this fight to Mexico,” said Chavez, whose father is one of the greatest fighters of all time. “I’m going to win, but my country will, too, because this is the fight that boxing needs.”

Canelo admitted Chavez Sr. is his idol, and said this fight will do nothing to alter his respect.

The big prize in boxing remains Canelo-Golovkin, but this is a fine appetizer, and should deliver good action in the ring.

“I hope to face the best possible Chavez because I don’t want any excuses when I beat him,” Alvarez said, “regardless of whatever happened to him.”
