Manny Pacquiao tweets he'll fight Amir Khan in April

Manny Pacquiao will face Amir Khan on April 23, the welterweight titleholder tweeted Saturday.

Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) has been trying for the past few years to land a fight with either Pacquiao -- whom he knows very well and has sparred countless rounds with when they were both trained by Freddie Roach -- or Floyd Mayweather.

England's Khan, 30, has not fought since May, when he moved up two weight classes from welterweight and challenged then-middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez at a catchweight of 155 pounds and was spectacularly knocked out cold in the sixth round.

Pacquaio, 38, previously had a deal to fight April 22 against Australia's Jeff Horn in Brisbane, but that fight appears to have been scuttled in favor of the Khan bout. Pacquiao said recently that his next bout will take place in the United Arab Emirates, though no announcement has been made about the location of the Khan fight.

In his most recent fight, Pacquiao outpointed Jessie Vargas to reclaim a welterweight world title in a dominant performance on Nov. 5 in Las Vegas. Pacquiao is boxing's only eight-division world titleholder.

All 3 biggest money fights of the year are all a week away from each other first Manny and Khan, then Joshua and Wlad and then Canelo and Chavez. Wilder only got $900k tonight and washington got $250k. Wilder been getting these purses barely over $1mil while Joshua been making $5-8mil purses

I been seeing the movement on this but held out hope that he would decide to fight Crawford but oh well

Khan and Manny makes most sense for both fighters, no bigger money opponents out there for them. There will be $38 mil to split for them in this fight, only 2 fights that'll draw more money than this fight will be Joshua vs Wlad and Canelo vs Chavez in 2017

Who you got for that Chavez-Canelo fight?

I think if Chavez is disciplined, he can pull off the upset. I don't think it'll be KO/TKO either way.

I agree with you if Chavez is disciplined and has his head right he's got a real chance. This is at least interesting b/c it'll be the first time we see Canelo against a bigger man than him. We also know Chavez got a chin and i doubt Canelo can stop him. We'll see how Canelo can handle going 12 rds with Chavez

Chavez is too slow and by the time the fight comes around will be weight-drained. He'll lose in the late rounds.

Khan has Kell Brook and the Danny Garcia rematch.

Manny has Crawford and Broner.

It's amazing how Canelo can fight Chavez whom is a light heavy weight but can't or should I say WON'T fight Triple G whom is smaller...a Lot smaller than Chavez :hmm: I smell pussy in the air

(1) Aren't they both "too slow" though? lol I don't see how Canelo has the speed advantage here. If so, not by much.
(2) I don't think so, he'll enter the ring about 12-15 lbs heavier than Canelo the night of the fight.

I don't think Canelo is slow, but he is faster than Chavez Jr. His issue is he has no foot movement. I think he will break Chavez Jr. down with a body attack.

Wilder won a title, talked a lot of shit after winning it, and since has been on a washed up fighter/bum-tomato can of the month tour... Have absolutely no interest in watching him fight. You don't win a title to THEN start testing yourself... Par for the course for the sad state of boxing in the upper division...

Hopefully Wilder fights either Joseph Parker next or King Kong or David Haye. If not, shit at least fight Shannon Briggs rather than these football players

Does Khan have the IQ to beat this current version of Manny?...I don't think so but I believe he may make Manny look stupid for the first few rounds...then Manny all time great class should shine through

Going with Garcia against Thurman but see it as a 50-50 fight...I have admittedly never been high on Thurman so I may be selling him short...think Garcia will be able to time him

Canelo should beat Chavez Jr unless the young Chavez trains like he means and fights according...then the size difference would come into play big time....since Chavez only chance depends on him being more disciplined than usual, gotta go with the more likely scenario of Chavez being his true lazy self and Canelo pulling it out

Thurman has been hurt by body shots from both Luis Collazo and Shawn Porter so if Garcia were to be smart he would work the body on thurman

thurman was hurt by their body shots but he still beat them in the end. the issue i have with garcia is that he was bullshitting with these catchweight at 143 with dudes for years. . guerrero was washed by the time garcia got himsame for paulie. the last real challenge garcia had was Mauricio Herrera. and we know that herrera really won that fight. i still think garcia got a good shot. he got a good chin but he better watch out for one time's power shots.

So Thurman and Garcia are getting $2mil each this fight, highest for both their careers. Previous high was $1.5 mil for both fighters.

David Haye and Tony Bellew will be earnings more. Both of them have 2.5 mil purses with ppv cut. Bellew should get about 3 mil pounds after his ppv share and Haye will get a larger ppv share so more than that depending on the ppv #s

Haye weighed in at 224 lbs and Bellew weighed in at 213 lbs today. Bellew took pics in front of Haye's Rolls Royce Wraith and said thats his ultimate dream car but he'll never get 1
