I think Crawford is more skilled and at an "even" weight I think it would be a super fight. But at 147 Crawford would barely be making weight and Spence would probably be 160 at fight night and we know he can take a big punch from legit 147-54. I don't think Crawford can hurt him.

mayweathercrawford.jpg

Bud is a huge Jr. Welter I think he could EASILY fight at 147 (I can't remember which fight it was , but Bud was 150+ on fight night). Same goes for Spence fighting at 154 or above.

Edit: I'm pretty sure it was the Postol fight.

Meant to ask you about this earlier. Who do you believe he ducked? Williams and Margacheeto?
Let me say this. I TOTALLY believe Floyd ducked both Williams and Margarito. That being said, I think those were two of the smartest decisions he made in his entire career. Margarito was still swinging cinder blocks around the time people were calling Dloyd to fight him, and no matter how great his defense was he would have taken damage in that fight because of them. Williams I believe had a very real chance to best Floyd in my opinion. People point out how easily Floyd best Corrales but him and Williams were two different fighters.

The reason why I say it was smart for Floyd to duck them is simple. The idea is to make the most money for the least amount of risk. People say 'well other fighter fight the best' well most of the fighters don't have Floyds earning potential either so they have no choice. Da Fuck would he fight Margarito or Williams for 8-10 mill (hypothetically) when he could get twice that fighting a talented but less risk fighter!?!?!

Floyd was a genius in and out of the ring, and while I used to shit on him for ducking certain fighters, looking back at it it was genius, and that's why he's sitting in 100s of millions of dollars and we can't still understand what he's saying....

He didn't duck Margarito though. I wish I could find the the old video where Margarito promoter kept it real and said he didn't duck them they were just trying to build hype for their fighter.

I feel you Fam, I was going off of this exchange:

According to Arum, Mayweather turned down the career-best purse to meet Margarito on Aug. 12 on HBO Pay-Per-View, instead opting for free agency by buying Arum out of their deal for $750,000.

"I did hear from him," Arum said of Mayweather. "He decided not to fight this summer. I made him a tremendous offer. I think Margarito is the riskiest fight for him of anyone out there."

Mayweather adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com that Mayweather passed on the fight not because he is ducking Margarito, but because he couldn't be ready to fight by Aug. 12. Mayweather injured his right hand during a dominating April 8 victory against Zab Judah.

"Floyd is not 100 percent healthy," Ellerbe said. "He has a bruised right hand. His hand is not broken. It's bruised, but it's a bad bruise. He wants to go into any fight 100 percent healthy. If Antonio Margarito happens to be the best available option when he is healthy, so be it.

"We are not turning down Margarito. I want to make that crystal clear. When and if he is the best available option for Floyd's next fight, that's the direction he will move in."

He bought his contract out because Arum was blocking the De La Hoya fight, Top rank and Golden Boy had the cold war going on. Arum wanted Floyd to fight Margarito and have control as his future fight. He fought Baldimor after the judah fight for the lineal title at 147 then fought Hoya next.

Margarito was just a bum who Arum promoted good and made him look like a boogey man who got exposed once those bricks got taken out his gloves. Mofo throwing arm punches in the late rounds.

How was that a duck when you can control your own career and win the lineal belt at 147 or be under Arums control and fight a simple title holder.

Also Floyd would stick and move on a simple Margarito. No jab when he comes in and took punches with his head. He would stand a chance against a defensive wizard with the balance and footwork frustrate rito.

Ok, I understand your argument but you don't give Pretty Boy Money's skills. PBF was a physically gifted fighter while Money was more of artist, craftman. Im not saying Floyd was ever one dimensional, just that he changed as a fighter. Money would have never fought Roy jones, he avoided speed. I don't recall PBF ducking anybody but I don't remember him fighting any speedsters either. He fought all comers at lightweight but at welterweight is a different story.

PBF was a physically gifted fighter who still had the technical all around skills and fundamentals. Great jab, always in position to defend or throw punches, balance out of this world, versatile, transition from offense to defensive effortlessly. At 130 and 135 he was fighting people more at his natural weight.

How many speedsters were around who could even come close to matching him with speed or trouble him. Judah, Pac.

Floyd didn't duck Margarito. He had a choice to fight him or Oscar at the time, and he wisely picked Oscar. Margarito fought Cotto, Shane, got suspended, came back and had his face caved in by Pacquiao, took time off to recover and then lost to Cotto before retiring.

I would say he ducked Paul Williams though but there is a video where Williams says he didn't.

We see it differently Bruh, I respect your opinion but I see it as a Duck, which again, I feel it makes sense. Not saying he was afraid to fight him either, you don't have to be afraid to fight someone to duck them. Even with all you mentioned, regardless of if Floyd would have beaten him, De La Hoya was a much more lucrative fight and why risk it with a live threat for peanuts compared to what you are looking to make against Oscar? Smart business move, yes. A Duck job, in my opinion, yes.

As far as sticking and moving and shoulder rolling, Floyd still to non-scoring punches on his shoulders, hips and arms. You constantly get hit ANYWHERE on your body with cement for 12 rounds it's gonna do serious damage. Your talking about him winning the fight, I'm talking about him getting beaten on with cement gloves while winning the fight.

Still a Duck.... and as I said, it was a wise choice and I didn't say he ducked him because he was afraid to fight him, but he ducked him nonetheless. Williams saying he didn't Duck him doesn't mean he didn't. He ducked him, and in Williams case I do believe he ducked Williams because Williams was a very serious threat with little financial benefit.

Oscar? If I remember Floyd picked Baldomir over Margarito...then fought Oscar after...thats why some said he ducked because Margarito was supposed to be more money and Arum was putting it out there...Floyd fought the relative unknown titlist Baldomir (who upset Zab)...he fought Baldomir for $1 more than he would have got for Margarito...nobody would consider picking Oscar over Margarito a duck...you would have to be a damn fool to pick Margarito in that scenario

How can it be a duck if Margarito wasn't available to fight because he was either fighting someone else, injured, suspended or retired?

Yeah Margarito was under Top Rank. He got mad because Floyd bought his freedom. If you look from when he left TR Floyd didn't fight any guys from that camp until Manny. Arum deliberately kept his guys away from Floyd.

Arum allegedly still owes him money from the Zab Judah fight.

I'm really not gonna spend a lot of time debating this with you Bruh. You have your opinion which I respect, I have mine.

There are multiple scenarios that were put in the press concerning why he didn't fight margarito. People normally pick the scenario that best suits their narrative. For me taking into account all the scenarios or reasons I read and heard, my ultimate conclusion is he ducked Margarito under the context I already defined... Thats my opinion is all.

Yep. For me, I try real hard to avoid siding with one side of a story based on one scenario. There are so many different situations and news planted it hard to determine which one is the truth. I try to look at benefit vs risk when it comes to Boxing and base my opinions on that. A lot of lies are told to the press Good Brother

I think anyone who practices critical thinking should be able to see things in multiple layers...
Yeah your layer is no matter the reason he chose not to fight him. Most people reason for saying it's not a duck is that it wasn't logical, not from a fight aspect, but from a business standpoint. It was either fight Margarito and still work for Arum or not fight him and be your own boss. Most agree that he would have beat Margarito. Canelo is younger, faster and stronger and Floyd held up to his punches for 12 rounds at 154....

I don't agree with your opinion but I do respect it.

No doubt, but, to say it's not a duck because it's not logical means that individual only views a duck under one defined logic or context, which was the point I was making in the post you quoted...

Like I said I had no issue with your opinion. I was stating mine and how I felt. No harm, no foul.

Ironic that in all of the forums on BGOL it is a boxing thread where most conversations stay civilized.

Real rap tho, it's been chill just vibing on the sport with you fellas the past few days. No B.S., just rapping. It cool to be able to talk about a sport and not deal with people who are overly emotionally invested. Actually learned some things too Fam. Big ups to y'all:cheers:

Agreed. This is why I hate going to YouTube for boxing news. People get out of pocket with race and nationality and don't see common sense sometimes. It fucks up the flow of the conversation.

Salute to you as well.
