I don't understand, why Marvel and DC have this huge disconnect between the TV and movie division. Nobody isn't saying to have the two divisions crossover a bunch of times. We just want see characters interact with one another. The possibilities are endless....imo.I want to see AoS characters help the Avengers with an enemy or Justice League helping the TV characters...

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I will say this, the Ezra cameo now makes me interested in Flashpoint...whenever they start filming it.

Do you think they'll do "Infinite Crisis" since that's the direct sequel to "Crisis On Infinite Earths" in the comic.... :dunno:

Also,do you put this on the same level as Infinity War and Endgame..

yeah and flashpoint can reboot the DCEU
not on the level of infinity war but
i like the resolution to crisis better than how they did endgame.

CW- DC at least stuck to the anti-monitor dawn of time thing just like the comics

CW’s next Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, is now filming and everybody possible is being brought in, except one. Michael Rosenbaum, best known for playing Lex Luthor on seven consecutive seasons of Smallville, can be counted out.
Persistent rumors and self-assured “scoops” claimed Rosenbaum was a lock before he denied he was ever contacted with an offer. In fact, he first heard about the possibility of featuring in Crisis on the Web. (Related: Smallville Actor Michael Rosenbaum Responds to Story He Is Playing Lex Luthor in CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths Event)
Fans reacted and sent out their pleas to have him included. That opened the door for negotiations and Rosenbaum’s agent was finally contacted. However, we can verify, thanks to the man himself, he won’t make an appearance.
Rosenbaum revealed the reason this week. He tweeted a full explanation that said Warner Bros. reached out to his reps last Friday at an awkward time. The actor was visiting his grandfather in a nursing home in Florida.
What made it worse was the barebones offer. Rosenbaum wrote they called with “No script. No idea what” he would do or when he had to show up. An undisclosed remuneration was described as “Basically no money.”
They had to know right away and Rosenbaum passed. He expressed his gratitude to his fans and thinks they can understand his position.

Superhero Insider: Batwoman rocked by a surprising arrival and departure

Each week, we break down the biggest moments from Supergirl, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman — both here and every Friday on SiriusXM's Superhero Insider.
This week, Batwoman and Supergirl ended their seasons with shocking twists, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow faced mortality. We break it all down below.
Batwoman
DEAN BUSCHER/THE CW
Holy Bruce Wayne reveal, Batwoman! Look, we all know there’s a much bigger Batwoman headline than the finale introducing Bruce Wayne (played by Warren Christie) — or at least, Hush (Gabriel Mann) is wearing Bruce Wayne’s face. Yes, it’s true: Ruby Rose is officially out as Kate Kane, and the CW series is recasting the lead role for season 2. That’s huge. And unfortunately that news decimates the shock factor of the season 1 finale, since the even crazier twist of Rose exiting the series came just a few days after the episode aired. That’s terrible timing because debuting Bruce (albeit a version of him) is the kind of cliffhanger that would have kept everyone talking in the long summer hiatus, creating the kind of fan frenzy that would boost viewership and inspire conversations about the series going into season 2. It’s the kind of creative juice the show needed. But instead all we’ll be talking about is who will be cast to take over the role of Kate Kane/Batwoman for the rest of the show’s run. How will this new actress change the series? And is this what Batwoman needed to become the Arrowverse hit it always had the potential to be? Only time will tell. —Sydney Bucksbaum

Raise your hand if that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows homage with multiple decoy Supergirls was everything you didn’t know you needed? That comedy bit was just one of many highlights from this week’s Supergirl finale, including but not limited to Alex finally suiting up as a vigilante (What’s her call sign going to be? And does she really think that edgy Black Swan eye makeup is enough of an identity concealment device? What’s wrong with an actual mask?!), Kara and Lena taking a step forward in mending their friendship by working together to defeat Lex, Brainy finally realizing following Lex’s plans was not how he was going to save all his friends, and Kara saving the world with yet another hopeful speech. But heading into next season, we’re left with a few dangling cliffhangers: Brainy’s fate after spending too long on the Leviathan ship, suffering through the fatal security system, and Lex and his mother’s plan to use the bottled-up shrunken gods to do… something. Another season with Lex as the ultimate villain only means good things for this show, but does that mean Leviathan will also continue to be story thread moving into next season? —S.B.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow
JEFF WEDDELL/THE CW
When talking about what makes Legends of Tomorrow great, most of us usually call out the show's wild approach to storytelling. But this week's episode, "I Am Legend," was a reminder that the show is just a solid drama and knows how to build tension. On the one hand, we all know the Legends weren't actually going to die in a zombie apocalypse, but at the same time, the team's last stand still had us on the edge of our seats because the episode treated their temporary immortality as a joke until it suddenly didn't. Plus, the cast turned in phenomenal performances, from Caity Lotz's forebodingly chill demeanor throughout the apocalypse to the look of horror on Jes Macallan's face as Sara was overpowered. As if this episode wasn't amazing already, Zari 2.0 and Constantine finally made out before everything hit the fan. —Chancellor Agard

Greg Berlanti says pandemic will have an impact on the next Arrowverse crossover

By Chancellor Agard

Like the rest of the television industry, the Arrowverse hasn't been immune to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, you can expect it to have an impact on the scope of the CW's next crossover.
On Saturday, Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti participated in the Multiverse 101 panel at DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes, along with DC-Based Films President at Warner Bros. Walter Hamada and DC Comics Publisher and CCO Jim Lee. During the conversation, he offered a small update on the CW's follow-up to "Crisis on Infinite Earths."
"In terms of what our next crossover event will be next year, I think truly because of COVID right now and the pandemic, our aspirations aren't quite as large," said The Flash co-creator. "We'd just like to start shooting again."
As of right now, it's still not entirely clear what the next crossover will be. In May, CW President Mark Pedowitz told reporters that they were discussing following up the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event with a crossover focused on around Batwoman and newcomer Superman & Lois; however, there wasn't anything concrete at the time. In fact, Pedowitz's comment was the first time Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries realized they were seriously considering moving forward with that idea.

"I don’t know [what to expect from the crossover] because I had heard rumors of it, but hearing it from The CW yesterday was the first time I was like, 'Oh, okay, I guess this is happening.'" Dries told EW in May. "I’m just as excited as everyone else and I love working with [Superman & Lois showrunner] Todd Helbing, so I’m sure we’ll cook up something really special and you know, our finale touches on Kate and Kara, and Kate is obviously very intimately knowledgeable about the Super-mythology." (Of course, this potential crossover is complicated by Ruby Rose's departure from Batwoman after season 1 and Javicia Leslie being cast as a new character who picks up the Crimson Knight's mantle).
During the Multiverse 101 panel, the trio also discussed the possibility of more crossovers between the TV and movie arms in the wake of Ezra Miller cameoing as the Flash in "Crisis on Infinite Earths" last January.
"Up to this point, the company was organized where TV was TV and film was film, and often times DC and Jim were the arbiters of, 'They want to use this character. Are you using this character?' It became this really weird situation where the fans love the characters, they just want to see the characters," said Hamada. "This sort of opens the door for us to do more crossovers, to really lean into this idea of [the multiverse] and acknowledge the fact there can be a Flash on TV and one in the movies, and you don't have to pick one or the other, and they both exist in this multiverse. I do think moving forward there are more opportunities to do things like this."

For his part, Berlanti is also "happy to invite any feature [film] characters" that the film arm is willing to share. Beebo willing they actually follow through on this.

Traditionally, thousands of pop culture fanatics flock to San Diego every summer to, in the words of our own Sam Barsanti, “see Jason Momoa from 50 feet away.” That wasn’t possible this year, for obvious reasons, so the Geek Gods deigned to bless us with Comic-Con@Home...which was promptly deemed a disappointment after it failed to garner even a fraction of the digital discourse of past Cons. But today, DC is giving the digital-convention thing a shot with DC FanDome, a free series of virtual panels centered on the company’s biggest titles. Among the anticipated news expected from today’s events were the release of new footage of Wonder Woman 1984, The Flash season 7, and the upcoming Justice League “Snyder Cut;” the announcement of a new Batman: Arkham game; and fresh details about upcoming Flash, Batman, Shazam, Suicide Squad, Aquaman, and The Rock—er, Black Adam—movies.

The entire event runs from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET today, but in case you aren’t sitting in on every panel and/or prefer to not be glued to social media, here are the highlights from the seven hours of programming.
  • At the Wonder Woman 1984 panel, Venus Williams and Lynda Carter stopped by as part of the fan Q&A before Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, and Pedro Pascal revealed the film’s second official trailer—which includes a first look at Wiig as Cheetah.
  • Warner Bros. Montreal debuted the first trailer for a new installment of the Batman: Arkham franchise: Batman: Gotham Knights. As the plural name suggests, the game—debuted today as part of DC’s FanDome event—centers on all four of Batman’s primary proteges (Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and The Red Hood) as they try to keep Gotham safe in the absence of their old vigilante-daddy boss.
  • Most of this morning’s Sandman panel was taken up by a mixture of nostalgia and frankly wild haircuts, courtesy of author Neil Gaiman—and especially Sandman podcast producer and star Dirk Maggs and Michael Sheen. Gaiman did let loose a little bit of info about the Sandman Netflix series, though, most notably that production is just now starting to pick back up again in a COVID-lockdown world, and that the series will forego its ‘80s roots to set Dream’s adventures in the modern day instead.
  • COVID-19 was also a point of discussion during the Multiverse 101 panel, with Greg Berlanti revealing that the pandemic may affect any plans they had been envisioning for this seasons Arrowverse crossover. In a fun tidbit of behind-the-scenes insight, the panel revealed that Ezra Miller’s involvement in last years “Crisis” crossover was a last-minute addition that was thought of in the final days of production—most of the cast didn’t even know Miller would appear since it was put together so quickly and filmed so late in the game. DC loved the idea because it allowed the TV shows to officially operate in their own universe and let fans love both versions of their favorite superheroes. Berlanti also officially said that only The CW’s multiverse is gone—elsewhere, like on Doom Patrol and Titans, it’s still going strong.
  • During the “Introducing Flash” panel, director Andrés Muschietti debuted previously unseen sketches for the new Flash suit that we’ll see in the upcoming movie starring Ezra Miller. “As you can see it’s more organic. you can see light embedded in it. it has been built by his friend Bruce Wayne this time,” the director said as the sketches flashed on screen. Screenwriter Christina Hodson also revealed that DC’s “cinematic multiverse is going to be born out of this movie—its born out of Barry’s movie.”
  • We already knew that Suicide Squad sequel director James Gunn decided to retain a handful of the original film’s characters for his “relaunch”—including Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller—while rounding the flick out with a stacked cast that includes Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Alice Braga, Taika Waititi, Pete Davidson, Michael Rooker, and David Dastmalchian (playing the iconic Polka-Dot Man). But today, the ne’er-do-wells congregated to reveal their villainous identities in a new spot that also offers a first look at their portrayals.
  • It was announced that John Ridley and Nick Derington will launch a four-part Batman miniseries in January 2021—and Ridley said there’s a “47 percent” chance that his Batman will be a person of color. Though we’d assume it’s more of a 100 percent chance.
  • During a “surprise panel,” moderator Marc Bernardin and DC Publisher/CCO Jim Lee were joined by Milestone principals Reggie Hudlin and Denys Cowan, along with Phil Lamarr, the iconic voice of the Static Shock animated series to announce Milestone’s return to publishing. Their new wave of content will be led by an all-new Static Shock digital comic series scheduled for February 2021, followed by an original Static Shock original graphic novel, and the return of Milestone heroes Icon & Rocket, with art by Cowan. And beginning this September through February of 2021, select content from the Milestone backlist will be remastered and available for purchase digitally at all participating digital retailers, including Comixology, Amazon Kindle, and others.
  • Zack Snyder revealed his cut of Justice League will be four freakin’ hours. So the short trailer they debuted—the 736th to be set to Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”—is just 1/1,000,00th of the final product, which will hit HBO Max next year as four one-hour installments.
  • The Flash TV show cast discussed how the episodes that were meant to be the end of season six will now be the premiere of season seven, which they teased with a trailer comprised of the 85 percent they’d filmed of what was supposed to be season six’s 20th episode.

The latter will be played by Noah Centineo, no word on who has been cast as the rest of the group.
  • Aquaman co-star Patrick Wilson and director James Wan had a friendly chat about their billion-plus blockbuster Aquaman—mostly on the topic of seeing Dolph Lundgren bounce up and down on a teeter-totter. But they did also talk (very vaguely) about the upcoming Aquaman 2, with Wan promising that it’d be “more serious” and “relevant” than the original film.

  • The cast of Shazam! showed up to joke about Sinbad possibly being in the upcoming sequel. At first it seemed like we wouldn’t get anything other than jokes about not getting anything out of their panel, but it ended with one morsel: the title. The sequel is officially titled Shazam! Fury Of The Gods.

At long last, The CW shows are coming back. When 2020 finally transitions into 2021, CW shows both new and old will premiere their new seasons across the month of January.
Light-hearted comedy starts things off when Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Penn & Teller: Fool Us move to Fridays starting on January 8, 2021. Two days later, the Critics Choice Super Awards will air on Sunday Jan. 10, celebrating excellence in genre storytelling like superheroes, comic books, science fiction, horror, and more.
Tuesday, Jan. 12 will be a one-two punch of old and new, with the season 2 premiere of Two Sentence Horror Stories followed by the U.S. premiere of supernatural Canadian drama Trickster. A CBC original series based on the novel Son of a Trickster by Eden Robinson, Trickster stars newcomer Joel Oulette as Jared, an Indigenous teen struggling to keep his dysfunctional family above water when his life gets even more complicated as he starts seeing supernatural things like talking ravens, doppelgängers, and skin monsters.

Batwoman returns for season 2 on Sunday, Jan. 17, and it will look a lot different than most season 2 returns. Series star Ruby Rose has now been replaced by Javicia Leslie (God Friended Me) who's donning the cowl as new character Ryan Wilder. Starting a week later on Jan. 24, season 3 of Charmed will join Batwoman on Sunday nights.
All American returns for season 3 on Monday, Jan. 18. Starting Feb. 8, Black Lightning season 4 will join All American on Monday nights.
Riverdale and Nancy Drew return on Jan. 20, and will air on Wednesday nights going forward. Thursday nights will see the return of Supernatural star Jared Padalecki to the network with the series premiere of Walker, the new reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger. It will be joined on Thursdays by the new season of Legacies.
Last but not least, Tuesdays are set to be superhero night for The CW, with Superman & Lois making its series premiere on Feb. 23 alongside the return of The Flash, which The CW now credits as its most-watched series.

The CW gives early series orders to Superman & Lois and Walker, Texas Ranger reboot

Pilot pickup season has come early on The CW. The network just announced that it has ordered two pilot scripts directly to series, including Arrowverse spin-off Superman & Lois and the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot starring Jared Padalecki.
Both Superman & Lois (from Warner Bros. TV) and Walker (from CBS TV Studios) have not filmed their pilot episodes yet. The first episodes for both new series will be filmed this spring and additional pilot orders for the next TV season will be announced in the next few weeks.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) and Elizabeth Tulloch (Grimm) as they reprise their Arrowverse roles of Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane, based on the DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The series follows the married couple as they “deal with all the stress, pressures, and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.”

Hoechlin first appeared on Supergirl in the season 2 premiere, debuting his version of Superman. He has since popped up in three additional episodes of Supergirl, along with the most recent two Arrowverse crossover events: Elseworlds and Crisis on Infinite Earths. Tulloch made her Arrowverse debut in Elseworlds and returned in Crisis on Infinite Earths. Superman & Lois is written and executive produced by Todd Helbing (The Flash) and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns.
Meanwhile, Walker ensures Padalecki stays on The CW after his long-running staple Supernatural ends this spring after 15 years. The reimagining of Walker, Texas Ranger, which originally aired from 1993 to 2001, stars Padalecki in the role originated by Chuck Norris: Cordell Walker, a member of the elite Texas Ranger Division.
Described as “a widower and father of two with his own moral code,” Cordell “returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years, only to discover there’s harder work to be done at home. He’ll attempt to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his family, and find unexpected common ground with his new partner (one of the first women in Texas Rangers’ history), while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death.” Written and executive produced by Anna Fricke (Being Human, Valor), Walker is also executive produced by Padalecki along with Dan Lin and Lindsay Liberatore.

These two new series joins the roster of 13 returning shows that have already been renewed for the 2020-2021 TV season, including remaining Arrowverse series The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and new addition Batwoman, plus Riverdale, The Vampire Diaries spin-off Legacies, Dynasty, All American, Charmed, Roswell, New Mexico, In the Dark, and new series Nancy Drew. Plus, a month ahead of its midseason premiere, Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene has received an order for 13 additional scripts.

Superman & Lois Writer Says Showrunner Blamed Canada For Lack of Diversity
Superman & Lois writer Nadria Tucker goes into more detail about her push for diversity on the series, saying the showrunner blamed the location.

BY REBECCA VANACKER

Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent aka Superman and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane in the Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover
A writer on Superman & Lois, Nadria Tucker, continues to speak out about the series' lack of diversity, claiming the showrunner blamed its location. The upcoming Arrowverse show is set to premiere in February 2021 alongside The Flash. It will bring back actors Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin, who last appeared in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. This time, Clark and Lois will be joined by their two teenage sons, as well as a host of other new and familiar DC characters. Superman & Lois will also trade Metropolis for Smallville, a decision fueled by a tragic event that's unknown at this time.

Unfortunately, Superman & Lois' journey so far has been rather bumpy. The coronavirus disrupted its planned pilot process, with filming only starting last month. The pandemic is also responsible for its 2021 premiere date, as The CW pushed all of its Arrowverse shows from the fall. There's been another major issue behind-the-scenes as well, as Tucker originally called out Superman & Lois for sexism and lack of diversity earlier this month. At the time, she posted a Twitter thread after receiving word her contract wasn't being extended. In it, she explained she fought for Black actors playing characters other than villains, as well as female-led storylines, but stated her concerns were ignored.

RELATED:
Supergirl Ending As Superman & Lois Starts Is A Bad Look For The Arrowverse

In a recent interview with Jonita Davis, Tucker went into more detail about her experience on Superman & Lois. At one point, she stated the showrunner blamed the series filming in Canada for its lack of diversity in supporting and background roles:

Casting is a great way to get some onscreen representation of different groups. Once the news began to come out about the casting [of Superman and Lois], we saw that the villain was going to be black. And it just…it felt like we needed to start pushing for diversity in other areas. Like, ‘let’s look to have diversity in some of these supporting roles.’ But also, ‘what’s the background roles?’ Even the dude walking behind everything. Let’s get that person to be not just standard ‘whoever.’ Let’s actually reflect the real world. And there was pushback on that, you know. The pushback was because the show films in Canada.[The showrunner told Tucker]‘We might not be able to find actors of color in Canada, so we would have to bring them in, or ship them in,’ as it were.

Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent Superman Baby Jonathan Arrowverse
Davis also asked Tucker if those on the show explained why it would be difficult to find Black actors or if they just weren't seeking them out. Tucker responded, "You know, I don’t know. I really don’t. I can’t imagine THAT being a serious thing to say. If it was a joke, it seems inappropriate to me. It wasn’t a joke to me." Tucker's claims are concerning, to say the least. Coupled with her Twitter thread and the interview as a whole, they paint an unfortunate picture of the culture on Superman & Lois. If the series is indeed looking for excuses not to include diverse actors in supporting and background roles, it doesn't bode well for the show or The CW's work towards inclusion.

These concerns coming out before Superman & Lois has even premiered is a double-edged sword for the series. On one hand, it allows those working on the show to course correct and address the important issues Tucker brought up before its too far into its run. However, her comments have generated a lot of negative publicity for the series, which could hurt its ratings when it premieres. Even though it may be hard for some working on Superman & Lois to see Tucker's concerns out in the open, as the writer noted in her original thread, it's the only way to start positive and incredibly necessary change.

Superman & Lois Gets Additional Season 1 Episodes, Season 2 Decision To Come
The CW extends Superman & Lois' season 1 episode count with two additional episodes, but it has yet to be officially renewed for season 2.

BY COOPER HOOD3 HOURS AGO
The CW extends Superman & Lois' season 1 episode count, but a decision on season 2's renewal has not been made. The Arrowverse is turning over a new leaf after the end of Arrow and the approaching conclusion to Supergirl. The evolution of the DC TV universe will bring Superman to the forefront again, at a time when DC's movies have no clear plan for the character. Superman & Lois is the latest spinoff for the Arrowverse and will give the famous couple of Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) even more to do.

Superman & Lois has been in the works for over a year after initially ordered straight to series by The CW in early 2020. However, the show - like every other production - experienced delays and setbacks caused by COVID-19. Delays pushed the launch until 2021, and Superman & Lois' extended 90-minute premiere is now rapidly approaching its long-awaited debut. Now before even a single episode of the show has hit the air, The CW is extending the first season while waiting to make a decision on the long-term future.

RELATED: How Superman & Lois Is Avoiding A Common Arrowverse Problem

As revealed by TVLine, The CW has extended Superman & Lois' season 1 episode count to fifteen. The CW initially ordered the series for a thirteen-episode first season, much shorter than other Arrowverse shows traditionally run. Now that another two episodes have been added, audiences get more Superman & Lois than expected. The report also notes that a decision on whether or not to renew Superman & Lois for season 2 has yet to be made.

The extension of Superman & Lois' episode count comes at the same time The CW renewed most of the other Arrowverse shows. The Flash is returning for season 8, Batwoman got picked up for season 3, and Legends of Tomorrow is coming back for season 7. While Superman & Lois is not among the Arrowverse shows to get an early renewal for the next season, the extended episode count should be a good sign. The network wouldn't be ordering more episodes now (and spending more money) on a show they didn't think had a future.

What exactly Superman & Lois' future holds will become more apparent in the coming weeks. The show premieres on February 23, which will finally give audiences a chance to see where the story goes. The first Superman & Lois trailer has depicted a more grounded, family-drama show than most expected. The presence of Superman, his two possibly-powered kids Jonathan and Jordan, and a host of other DC characters should guarantee Superman & Lois transforms into a bigger series as time goes on. If the response to the show is positive, then a season 2 renewal is more likely to occur.

WHERE TO WATCH

Black Lightning is powering down in 2021.
On Friday, the CW announced that the Cress Williams-led superhero drama's upcoming fourth season will be its last. A reason for the show's cancelation wasn't given at the time of the announcement, but showrunner Salim Akil did release a statement thanking everyone who has watched and been involved with the show.
"When we first started the Black Lighting journey, I knew that Jefferson Pierce and his family of powerful Black Women would be a unique addition to the super hero genre. The love that Blerds and all comic book fans around the globe have shown this series over the past three seasons proved what we imagined, Black People Want To See Themselves in all their complexities," said Akil in the statement. "Thank you to the phenomenal cast, writers and crew without whom none of this would’ve been possible. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve been able to do and the moments we’ve been able to create in bringing DC’s first African-American family of super heroes to life for the culture."

Premiering in 2018, Black Lightning centered on Williams' Jefferson Pierce, a teacher and retired superhero; however, in the pilot, he suited back up as Freeland's electricity-powered hero Black Lightning after his daughters Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) were kidnapped by a local gang. Eventually, his daughters started developing powers and joined the family business as Thunder and Lightning, respectively. One of the most impressive aspects of the show is how it's stories are inspired by real-life issues Black people face in America.
News of Black Lightning's end arrives eight days after the CW and Warner Bros. TV announced that Akil was developing a spin-off centered on Jordan Calloway's Painkiller, which would be introduced by a backdoor pilot in season 4.
"I’m very grateful to Peter Roth, Warner Bros. TV, Mark Pedowitz, The CW Network and Greg Berlanti for their partnership and support of my vision at every step of this journey. While Season Four may be the end of one journey, I’m extremely excited to usher in a new chapter and continued collaboration with The CW as we tell the story of Painkiller,” Akil said.

Black Lightning isn't the only Arrowverse show ending in the new year. The upcoming sixth season of Supergirl will also be its last. On the bright-side, the network has another caped offering in the works: A Wonder Girlseries, writer Dailyn Rodriguez (Queen of the South) and Greg Berlanti.
Black Lightning returns Monday, Feb. 8 at 9 p.m. on The CW.

Black Lightning Showrunner Says Painkiller Series Will Feature Thunder and Lightning
By NICOLE DRUM - February 14, 2021 08:27 pm EST

Black Lightning may be coming to an end with its fourth and final season, it may not be the last viewers see of the Pierce daughters, Anissa/Thunder (Nefessa Williams) and Jennifer/Lightning (China Anne McClain). According to series showrunner Salim Akil, both superheroes are likely to appear in the Painkiller spinoff series set to center around Jordan Calloway's character of the same name, should it get picked up to series.

Speaking with SYFY, Akil said that Painkiller -- which will bet a backdoor pilot in episode seven of Black Lightning this season -- will be a true spinoff and that the Pierce sisters will be a part of it.
"We're shooting the Painkiller pilot now," Akil said. "We fully intend for it to be a spinoff. I know that if Painkiller gets picked up, you'll probably see [the Pierce sisters] in there."

The idea that Jen/Lightning could appear on Painkiller is something that may be surprising for fans. Last year, shortly after the announcement that Black Lightning was ending after four seasons, McClain took to social media and revealed that already had plans to leave Black Lightning with Season 4 to be her last even before the series was canceled.

"There's something I want to tell you, and for those who haven't heard, I'm sorry," she said at the time. "This season of Black Lightning that we're filming right now is going to be the last season of the show. I didn't find that out until yesterday. I found out with everybody else. I didn't know. But, what I did know and have known along with the rest of the cast since before we even started shooting this season is that I am leaving the show. And was leaving the show. This was going to be my last season, regardless of if it went on or not. For different reasons, that if we're being honest, I do not want to go into. I just want y’all to trust me on it."

McClain also revealed that she'd only agreed to be in a certain number of episodes, though she was clear that her decision had nothing to do with The CW and was more personal.
As for the Painkiller spinoff more generally, Akil said that he is interested in exploring the "duality" of the character.

"With Khalil, I wanted to get into the idea of the duality of Black men," Akil explained. "How, in some cases, you're one person in one area of your life and you have to be another person. I'm trying to figure that out with this character: how do you bring those two parts of you together without sacrificing who you truly are?"
Black Lightning airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. The Painkiller backdoor pilot is set for the seventh episode of Black Lightning's fourth season.

The CW is not moving forward with the project, which came from Queen of the South executive producer/co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros TV.
Rodriguez revealed the news on social media (below).
The drama, based on DC characters created by Joëlle Jones, centered on Yara Flor, a Latina Dreamer who was born of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, learns that she is Wonder Girl. With her newfound power must fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world.
It comes after the youth-skewing network handed pilot orders to another DC project, Ava DuVernay’s Naomi, as well as a live-action reboot of The Powerpuff Girls from Diablo Cody and Berlanti Productions and aa millennial nun dramedy exec produced by Jennie Snyder Urman.
Wonder Girl would have marked the first Latina superhero title character of a DC TV series.

Kind of glad theyre not going forward with this IMO.. instead of focusing the show on Donna Troy, they adapted the "Future State" version of Wonder Woman

i was ok with it

Its all one universe now anyway plus donna is already on Titans

The issue i read was decent a good writer room and showrunner they could do it

The thing is the challenge of making it stargirl level good.

Cause right now with painkiller coming its balanced.

The Flash is speeding over to DC's Stargirl.
EW has exclusively learned that John Wesley Shipp will guest-star in season 2 of the CW's high-school superhero drama. Shipp will appear in episode 9, reprising his role as old-school speedster Jay Garrick from The Flash.
According to the official description, Jay Garrick plays a role "in a pivotal flashback episode" that establishes "the Golden Age Flash as a member of Earth-2's Justice Society of America." Per the CW, this miniature crossover will "officially bring Stargirl [Brec Bassinger] into CW's post-Crisis CWverse alongside The Flash, Superman & Lois, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Supergirl, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow."

CREDIT: KATIE YU/THE CW
This is the first time Stargirl will feature a character crossover from an Arrowverse show, as it wasn't possible before Crisis on Infinite Earths established that Bassinger's stars-and-stripes-clad teen hero resides on Earth-2 (with the Arrowverse shows all taking place on Earth-Prime now). This casting helps reinforce Stargirl's place in the greater post-Crisis multiverse.
Stargirl season 1 ended with the new JSA — Courtney/Stargirl, Yolanda/Wildcat (Yvette Monreal), Beth/Dr. Mid-Nite (Anjelika Washington), Rick/Hourman (Cameron Gellman), and Pat/S.T.R.I.P.E. (Luke Wilson) — foiling the Injustice Society of America's plans to brainwash the country. But the finale also introduced new threats like Cindy (Meg DeLacy) finding a gem holding DC supervillain Eclipso and former ISA member the Shade returning to fill the power vacuum in the decimated evil group. And a post-credit sequence revealed that presumed-dead Sylvester Pemberton, a.k.a. Starman (Joel McHale), is very much alive and looking for Pat.

Shipp originally played the Scarlet Speedster on the 1990 TV series The Flash. His tenure in the Arrowverse began with playing Henry Allen, father of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), but he has played several different versions of the Flash since then, with appearances on Supergirl and Arrow. Shipp is also known for roles on Dawson's Creek and Teen Wolf.

David Ramsey is returning to the Arrowverse as both John Diggle and director

We definitely haven't seen the last of David Ramsey, or his on-screen Arrow persona John Diggle, in the Arrowverse: EW has confirmed that Ramsey is returning to the CW's shared superhero universe in 2021, juggling multiple commitments across the several of the shows.
First off, Ramsey will guest-star in five episodes in the Arrowverse. He's set to reprise the role of Diggle on Superman & Lois, Supergirl, The Flash, and Batwoman. When we last checked in with Diggle in the Arrow series finale, he was in the process of moving to Metropolis when he discovered a bright green object at meteor crash site, which was a nod to the prevailing fan theory that he was destined to become a Green Lantern (He later appeared in The Flash's first post-Crisis on Infinite Earths episode, "Marathon").

Ramsey will also appear on DC's Legends of Tomorrow; however, his role is currently being kept under wraps. Knowing Legends, it's probably safe to assume it'll be something very, well, Legends.
On top of all of that, though, the 49-year-old actor will also direct five episodes in the Arrowverse, including Superman & Lois and Supergirl. Ramsey made his directorial debut with the Arrow season 7 episode "Past Sins" and went on to helm season 8's "Reset," an emotional time-loop hour that was one of the best episodes of the final season (see EW's ranking of every Arrow episode).

"I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I've been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera," said Ramsey in a statement obtained by EW. "To say I'm excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can't wait to continue telling these stories."

It's not entirely surprising that Ramsey is returning to the Arrowverse, given what co-creator Marc Guggenheim told reporters at a screening of Arrow's series finale last January. "David and I have actually talked a lot about Diggle’s and David’s post Arrow future. We’ve got some really good ideas, and I’m going to stand pat on that," said Guggenheim. "I will also say David has become a remarkable director, so we’re as interested in him behind the cameras as we are in front."
Deadline was the first to break the news.
The CW's Arrowverse shows return with new episodes in 2021, starting with Batwoman on Jan. 17, followed by Black Lightning on Feb. 8, and The Flash and Superman & Lois on Feb. 23. Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow are being held for midseason.

I never got into black lightning but watched arrow, flash, and batwoman. Is Painkiller an interesting character to do a show around?
