Btw I do not like this new idea of super league, it doesn't encourage any parity among the clubs in Europe. This will give smaller teams even less chance to retain their star player.

There's no parity amongst the clubs in Europe right now.

Germany is a feeder program for Bayern
Italy has been Juventus' for the past 10 years (excluding Inter this year)
Spain is Barca & Real with the occasional Atletico sighting
France is PSG

England is really the only top flight league in Europe that has some sort of competition

Make no mistake, these executives and owners are going to come back with this idea. The $, especially given the COVID related losses are too much.

This doesn't change the fact the European model needs some serious tweaking.

Nah.. it needs a complete revamp from top to bottom.

However .. avoiding this ESL is a shift back to neutral and the right direction.

The same fans who were shafted by the owners, well done on showing your displeasure at the greed of these owners. The Americanization of the champions league doesn't work in Europe.

One of the funniest convos I have ever had was explaining how stadiums in the US were funded to a group of my European work colleagues.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman steps down as teams begin to leave the newly formed European Super League

Manchester City are set to withdraw from the European Super League (ESL) and Chelsea have announced their intention to do the same after facing criticism for being part of 12 top-earning teams who announced the new league on Sunday. FIFA has expressed its "disapproval" of the new proposed European Super League (ESL) competition, while UEFA said that clubs and players in the new league will be banned from the Champions League, Europa League, Euros and World Cup. A ban could include the current competitions.

What you need to know

United were the main English club pushing for this and somehow they came out better because they are getting rid of Woodward at the end of the year. Damn Glazers!

Don’t get it twisted.. the clubs aren’t at fault. It’s STRICTLY the owners in this case. So much so that many board members, including Sir Alex Ferguson, were left fuming at this decision. Managers, players, and fans from most of the big 6 clubs didn’t want anything to do with this.

But I can’t say I’m not happy that cocksucker Ed Woodward is gone.

And if there’s a Saudi Sheikh with a spare £4 billion lying around, I hope he takes those damn Glazers on their offer of selling.

UEFA brought that energy when the profits were at stake threatening to ban players from major tournaments but soft when it comes to addressing racism in the game.

UEFA won't fight racism because it doesn't fit their agenda, Fighting Racism doesnt out money in their pockets so that's why Racism will always be there in football

Take away all the black players and you will see how much club football in Europe suffer, financial massacre. They don't fight racism as hard because black players love their money as much as the white greedy fuckers in charge.

This is a travesty to football. No relegation for certain clubs. It seems that some managers and players won't be happy with this decision.
This is what the Glazers, who own the Tampa Bay Bucs, and Manchester United, suggested
to the English Premier League some years ago. It is the nonsense they have in America where
the rich get to remain rich because of the most socialist-for-the-rich leagues in which there is
no demotion or promotion, and revenue sharing structure guarantees profits for all the teams
year in year out.

People told them to fuck off.

In case you've missed it:
For those that don't know, this is Shaka Hislop, Howard University graduate, and a top flight Premier Leauge goalkeeper in his day (West Ham United). This is his initial reaction on Sunday night "Where was this reaction from UEFA on racism?"

Liverpool owner Henry apologises to fans after Super League debacle: 'I alone am responsible'

Liverpool principal owner John W. Henry has issued an apology to fans the day after his club were forced to back out of the crumbling European Super League due to widespread outrage across the football community.
The Merseyside team and the five other clubs from the Premier League announced on Tuesday that they would be withdrawing from the competition, a mere 48 hours after it was announced.
- Super League chaos as English clubs withdraw
- Woodward resigns as Man United chief executive
- Olley: Scene from Chelsea as fans rejoice Super League exit

After the announcement of the league, fans had said they would be removing their banners from the iconic Kop stand in protest and the club's players posted statements on social media expressing that they didn't want to compete in the league.

The grandson of Liverpool legend Bill Shankly had also requested that the statue of his grandfather that stands outside Anfield be removed if the league went ahead.
"I want to apologise to all the fans and supporters of Liverpool Football Club for the disruption I caused over the past 48 hours," Henry said in a video address on Wednesday.
"It goes without saying but should be said that the project put forward was never going to stand without the support of the fans. No-one ever thought differently in England. Over these 48 hours, you were very clear that it would not stand. We heard you. I heard you.
"And I want to apologise to Jurgen [Klopp], to [CEO] Billy [Hogan], to the players and to everyone who works so hard at LFC to make our fans proud. They have absolutely no responsibility for this disruption. They were the most disrupted, and unfairly so. This is what hurts most. They love your club and work to make you proud every single day."
The league, which featured 12 teams from across Europe, was announced on Sunday. It included no mention of consultations with fans or other interest groups as to whether the club would compete in the tournament.

"I know the entire LFC team has the expertise, leadership and passion necessary to rebuild trust and help us move forward," Henry said. "More than a decade ago when we signed up for the challenges associated with football, we dreamed of what you dreamed of. And we've worked hard to improve your club. Our work isn't done. And I hope you'll understand that even when we make mistakes, we're trying to work in your club's best interests. In this endeavour I've let you down.
"Again, I'm sorry, and I alone am responsible for the unnecessary negativity brought forward over the past couple of days. It's something I won't forget -- and shows the power the fans have today and will rightly continue to have.

"If there's one thing this horrible pandemic has clearly shown, it's how crucial fans are to our sport and to every sport. It's shown in every empty stadium. It's been an incredibly tough year for all of us; virtually no-one unaffected. It's important that the Liverpool football family remains intact, vital and committed to what we've seen from you globally, with local gestures of kindness and support. I can promise you I will do whatever I can to further that."
The Fenway Sports Group, of which Henry is a founder, bought Liverpool in 2010. It also owns several American teams, including the Boston Red Sox.
The new league was touted as being a similar franchise to American sports such as the NFL where promotion and relegation don't exist.

The ideas been an idea since forever and a day but no one tried to mobilize it into fruition until now.

I’m certain they’ll try it again, but they’re gonna have deal with the new measures that should go in place very soon.

Clubs are currently looking into Germany’s 50+1 model which gives partial ownership to supporters to ensure they have a say in footballing matters. A formation or version of that would suit most clubs and protect them from this again.

I’m sure UEFA & FIFA are revamping as well after witnessing this, so these owners can try again and perhaps propose something better that all clubs would like to hear about first, and with open transparency, but trying this thief-in-the-night shit, they’d probably find life quite difficult the next time around.

Sadly there won’t be one.

Finance first. Everything else second.
