Damn good episode. Glad they finally killed AIDA off. Got tired of her ass! LOL. But now I'm like, WTF now?!?! Digging Ghost Rider's new moves!

Man I loved AIDA.. what made her cool was the fact that she was essentially 3 completely different characters... actually 4 if you consider the pre-darkhold version of her.

If ghostrider mentioned what you said Fonzi, then there has to be a deal with Fox cause Marvel cant use that shit. That would be a great sign for the future.

Dude could this be
prison 42... because if it is Prion 42... my head might explode.

What if they made Coulson the warden of Prison 42 as a way to keep him and the others out of the public eye while still thanking them for the work that they did to save the earth. That could have been why Coulson said "time to get the work"..

That could be just movie rights.. a studio could own the movie rights but not own the animated or tv rights. I'm trying to look it up but... he definitely said it tonight. So something had to have happened.

As I've stated many times before... Fox couldn't make any X-Men related tv shows as they only had movie rights. The fact that they're now doing tv shows means that they got permission from the Mouse, but I'm guessing that they had to give up a lot in return... believe that...

That's what I'm thinking. Cause what Fonzie said is not X-men related.

The end of Aida was so....anti-climactic. I can not believe that she went out so....unceremoniously. I expected a stronger fight. She is truly human. Her ego made her hang around instead of regrouping and coming back another day.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. bosses on those shocking finale twists

NATALIE ABRAMS@NATALIEABRAMS

POSTED ON MAY 16, 2017 AT 11:00PM EDT

Warning: This story contains major spoilers from the season finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Read at your own risk.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finale was out of this world… literally.

Consumed with rage, now-human Aida aimed to transform the real world into the oppressed version she created in the Matrix-like prison. To do that, she used Daisy doubles to incite real-life fear of Inhumans, and subsequently S.H.I.E.L.D. The only one who could take Aida down was Ghost Rider, since they’re both born of the Darkhold.

In order to trick Aida, Coulson took on the power of the Ghost Rider and killed her. But there are consequences to his actions that remain to be seen. For now, the government plans to shut down S.H.I.E.L.D. once and for all, so the team decides to take the fall together instead of letting Fitz (Iain de Caestecker) go down for the creation of LMDs. But it seems perhaps that it wasn’t the government that arrested them at season’s end, as Coulson wakes up in space. What’s next? EW turned to executive producer Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell for the scoop,

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Why is Coulson in space?!
JED WHEDON: Is he, or is he standing in front of a nice television?
JEFFREY BELL: Could be 4K TV.

Is the whole team there? Or is this as a result of this Ghost Rider deal he was being coy about?
MAURISSA TANCHAROEN: Well, that’s what season 5 is for.
BELL: Those are all great season 5 questions.

Can you speak to Coulson’s mindset in this moment?
TANCHAROEN: In this moment when he’s in space…
BELL: This moment is quintessential Coulson in that he’s…
WHEDON: He’s mildly put upon, but seems to be used to it.
TANCHAROEN: Yeah, he seems very resolved in his new place, wherever that place may be.
BELL: Yeah, which to me is Coulson. It’s like, “Okay, this is what’s ahead of me, this is what I have to deal with. Okay, back to work.” That’s him in a nutshell. “Okay, this is weird, or this is terrible—”
WHEDON: But it’s always normal.

What can you tease about this group that appeared at the end in the diner? It doesn’t seem like they’re government.
BELL: That seems like a fair assessment.
WHEDON: Or at least not our government, but yes.

Is this the new antagonist for next season?
BELL: These are all questions we’re telling stories for next year.
WHEDON: Yeah, you’re not going to get anything out of us.
BELL: We need 22 stories next year! These are questions that if we say yes, no, blue, or this, we can go home, but nobody pays us.
WHEDON: Truthfully, if we hadn’t gotten a season 5, we’d tell you anything.

Can you say how much of a time jump we’re seeing here?
TANCHAROEN: No.
WHEDON: I feel like we’ve reached the end of this section.
TANCHAROEN: You could glean that it’s enough of a jump where it seems like he’s about to commence on a routine that he’s accepted.
BELL: And he’s not cleanly shaven, so it’s at least three days.

We see a glowing blue light in space. Is that a clue, or just getting a sense of how vast it is?
WHEDON: Oh, it’s a clue. Read into it as hard as you can. I can’t wait until you see it. Everything is a clue. We can’t say anything really about the end. It’s all meant to get you asking these questions, so at least we did our job there.

Does the space stuff tie into Marvel’s Inhumans at all?
WHEDON: We can’t say.

The government was planning to shut down S.H.I.E.L.D. once and for all, which seems to be a threat most seasons. What can you tease about what’s next back on Earth since Aida laid the groundwork for humans to fear S.H.I.E.L.D. and Inhumans?
WHEDON: It’s definitely not resolved. We’ve hit a low point in terms of the public view of S.H.I.E.L.D. because after the Triskelion fell and Hydra took over, it was vanished, and it gave them a gleam of hope this year of, “Okay, we’re going to try to do it right. We have this new director and this new PR mission,” and that could not have gone worse with Daisy now on tape committing a horrible crime — it was, of course, not her. The public perception of S.H.I.E.L.D. is at an all-time low, so we have not resolved that, and there will be still more fallout from it.

Will the storyline primarily take place in space next year, or will you have dual storytelling between what’s going on with Coulson and what’s going on back on Earth?
WHEDON: Next year is going to remain a mystery until next year.
TANCHAROEN: Only because it’s still a mystery to us.
BELL: It goes back to these are why we hope people show up, to get these questions answered.

Will you be going the subtitle route again like you did this season?
WHEDON: Truthfully, some of that comes down to how the season is broken up in terms of airing. If everything is running back-to-back, it feels weird to start calling it different things, but we’ll know more when we know our schedule. We will try to have it in bite-sized chunks.
BELL: A 22-episode arc is a lot for people to hold onto. By breaking it up into either smaller arcs or different pods, by introducing a set of antagonists and putting them down, or moving from space to space, our experience has been that it’s something the viewers enjoy, and it makes it a little easier to digest when you’re telling some of these stories.

[Editor’s note: As announced Tuesday morning, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will move to Friday nights, debuting later this fall following the eight-episode run of Marvel’s Inhumans.]

May and Coulson seem to admit there are feelings between them. But they want to take a few steps back. What’s going through their minds, since this is such a big step for both of them to open up in this way?
WHEDON: In classic May-Coulson fashion, they’ve managed to take a step in their relationship without actually stepping anywhere. What they agreed to at the end is sort of a reset and to take it one step at a time, but at the same time, they both admitted something they never actually spoke out loud. They both sort of said, “Maybe that was real,” “Yeah, maybe that was.” Classic May, they’ve managed to communicate without having much communication, so how that affects their relationship going forward should be interesting.

Even though Daisy gives a great speech at the end of the hour, how will her doubles causing all this drama affect her? Will she revert at all, or continue moving forward with this growth next season?
BELL: The arc of this season was Daisy finally stepping into a leadership position that Coulson believed was always there. At the end of the year, rather than Coulson giving the big speech to Fitz or rallying the troops, without prompting, Daisy does that. For us, that’s a really wonderful next step for her. I think her moving into a leadership role as we go into the next season in a larger capacity is a really organic development for her.
WHEDON: Yeah, it’s not something she did consciously.
BELL: I agree, it wasn’t, “Oh, I better do this”; it’s now seeping into her DNA of who she is.
WHEDON: Right. At the end of last year, she thought, “Okay, I have to take all these burdens on my own shoulders,” and it became a personal mission. But then in rejoining that team, that personal mission starts to include them. So we’ve seen that progression of her starting to step up and getting confident that she can handle each problem.

Daisy says to Fitz that it’s not all his fault, but is this something that will stick with Fitz moving forward?
BELL: Yeah, it’s the sort of thing that even if other people forgive you, it takes much longer for you to forgive yourself.

Simmons said this was Fitz’s fault. Yes, it was an LMD version, but can she ever forgive him?
WHEDON: It’s safe to say, from episodes 21 and 22, we know that the two of them will always love each other and probably won’t love anybody else. But whether or not that means they can be together and that their relationship will survive, I think that’s a question that is still out there. If he’s ever going to get over it, she’s the only one who can help him. There’s a big rift between them right now; one hopes that they can mend it.

Mack seemed to handle coming out of the Framework pretty well. Is it fair to say he got some closure when it came to his daughter?
WHEDON: It was different for him than it was for Fitz. He was the only person who got something he really wanted. In that last scene with Yo-Yo, you get a sense that sure, it’s resonating and painful, but he sees it as a bonus that he got to have that time with her at all. It will always be a wound, but I think he would’ve much rather had that time with her than not have it, regardless of how long it lasted and the price emotionally that he had to pay for it. I don’t think he came out as damaged as everyone else by what had happened.

Ghost Rider can now travel between realms. Does that mean we will see more of him in the future?
BELL: Anything is possible.

Can you speak to this deal Ghost Rider made to take over Coulson?
WHEDON:
We can safely say that having that thing inside of you is no small occurrence. It happened to Mack because Robbie was being pulled through dimensions, so it’s a pretty large price he paid to have the Ghost Rider inside. Robbie carries it around; it’s the biggest weight on his back. It’s not like he can just hop into Coulson with a thumbs up. Whatever the deal is, it’s fair to say that it’s serious. And you get that impression from Robbie when he says, “I don’t envy you.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is expected to return in late fall on ABC.

Him and Yo Yo need a wedding.
That is Ghost Rider period. Nobody else can portray him in anything Marvel
Just cut dude the check and let him do his cameo appearances and everything.
If I was Marvel I'd have him make an appearance in one of the infinity movies and then target a Cinco De Mayo 2019 solo movie release date. That's just me

I've got to agree.... dude is ghostrider.

Something tells me that this last show is going to be filled with Racially uncomfortable humor for the entire family.

Yep. Won't last more than 2 seasons. Interesting premise though.

She wasn't ready for Ghostrider.

She thought it was going to be one way and ended up a shook one:lol:

What they pulled a doctor strange....

Oh shit.... the ghostrider wormhole trick on tv.

I geeked out when he opened up the worm hole

HUH? What I miss there?

I figured she would put up more of a fight too. She just took the burn. I thought she'd somehow start to regroup and then GR/Coulson would have to go at her again.

They’ve been agents of SHIELD. They’ve been agents of Hydra. Could Phil Coulson’s team next be agents of SWORD?

Spoilers for the Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Finale Follow

The fourth season finale of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD ended on an unexpected note. On Earth, having successfully survived the virtual world known as the Framework and defeated the LMD turned supervillain called AIDA, Coulson's SHIELD team was enjoying a meal at a diner. That meal was cut short when soldiers cut the power and entered the building and a shady government agent used a device to paralyze the agents in place and take them into custody.

That was followed by the final scene of the season, which showed Coulson waking up in outer space and getting ready to get to work.

This certainly seems to suggest that the fifth season of Agents of SHIELD will be heading to outer space, which may lead to the introduction of SWORD into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

SWORD stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department. It is the sister organization to SHIELD. Where SHIELD is focused on keeping the peace on Earth, SWORD is responsible for monitoring the rest of the known universe.

SWORD was led by Special Agent Abigail Brand, a half-alien soldier who was just as tough and capable as her SHIELD counterpart, Nick Fury.

When the SHIELD team went to that diner, they were fully expecting police or military to come to arrest them. However, what if the agent who took them into custody wasn’t law enforcement, but SWORD come to collect the team for deployment on a special assignment? Ghost Rider implied that Coulson was hiding something from his SHIELD team. What if that secret was that he’s covertly been operating off-world as an agent of SWORD?

It is also worth noting that Agents of SHIELD will be deep into its fifth season when Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters in May 2018. Avengers: Infinity War will see Thanos bring his army to invade the Earth. The last time Thanos tried that in the Marvel Comics universe, in the event series Infinity, SWORD was part of Earth’s defense force. If the Marvel Cinematic Universe was ever going to introduce SWORD, this would be the most opportune time, and doing so in Agents of SHIELD provides an easy way to tie the series into the next major MCU event.

The problem is that Abigail Brand and SWORD were created by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday in Astonishing X-Men. The short-lived SWORD comic book series was collected into a single volume titled X-Men: SWORD. That may mean that Brand and SWORD fall into the group of characters whose film and television rights belong to 20th Century Fox and its X-Men franchise, not to mention the fact the mutant Beast was once a member and romantically involved with Brand, and Kitty Pryde’s pet dragon Lockheed was an undercover SWORD agent within the X-Mansion. We can’t know for sure, but it may be more likely that fans will see SWORD in X-Men: Dark Phoenix than in Avengers: Infinity War.

Still, even if Marvel can’t use the name SWORD, they can still create a similar organization in its place. We’ll see when Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD returns to ABC in the fall, following the Marvel’s Inhumans event series.

'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4 Closes With A Hint To S.W.O.R.D. - Will Season 5 Tie In With 'Infinity War'?

Note: This article contains heavy spoilers for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4's finale, "World's End."

"All right, Phil, enough sight-seeing. Get back to work."

What's next for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? This last season has been a breathtakingly successful one, loved by both fans and critics. But it closed in fascinating fashion, revealing that Phil Coulson has just taken a first step into a far wider universe than even he could ever have imagined. Yes, it's official; Marvel fans are reacting in utter excitement, as we look set to move from S.H.I.E.L.D. to S.W.O.R.D.!

What Is S.W.O.R.D.?
an-awesome-moment-credit-abc.jpg

An awesome moment. [Credit: ABC]
If you thought S.H.I.E.L.D. was a crazy acronym, you ain't seen nothing yet! S.W.O.R.D. is the Sentient World Observation and Response Department. It's a top-secret organization created by Joss Whedon during his Astonishing X-Men run, and it has two major focuses: protecting the world from alien threats, and managing human relations with the many alien races of the Marvel Comics Universe.

S.W.O.R.D. enforces human interests in ruthless fashion, traditionally commanded by Commander Abigail Brand - a half-human/half-alien who makes Nick Fury look open and communicative. In the comics, Brand is pretty intense — she was willing to sacrifice the X-Men in order to prevent war with an alien race from the planet Breakworld. More recently, though, S.W.O.R.D. has been playing a major role in the pages of Captain Marvel, where Carol Danvers has taken over the organization.

S.W.O.R.D. is based on an orbital satellite known as the Peak, which stands as a first line of defense against alien invasion. It's very much possible that the closing scene of Season 4, showing Coulson in space, is actually set on the Peak!

Adapting S.W.O.R.D. For The MCU
Until now, we'd actually been a little uncertain whether or not Marvel had the rights to use S.W.O.R.D. — as mentioned, they were introduced in the pages of Astonishing X-Men, and they've often had a strong relationship with Marvel's merry mutants. Still, the Season 4 finale seems to leave us in doubt; we see Coulson and his team brought down by mysterious forces who are waiting for a 'window' (presumably a launch window, to take them into space). Next thing we know, Coulson is based somewhere near an asteroid field! Marvel fans are in no doubt at all; this has to be S.W.O.R.D.

renewed for a fifth season, but — in a surprising twist — it's not going to be part of the fall lineup. Instead, in fall we'll be watching Marvel's new Inhumans TV series; only when that brief 8-episode series has ended will we move on to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. It's a decision that has left fans somewhat bemused, but the closing twist of Season 4 hints at a possible reason.

The story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is building to a head, and the climax will be next year's #InfinityWar. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has traditionally tied into the latest Marvel blockbuster, and fans are particularly eager to see the show link to Infinity War. Unfortunately, had Season 5 began in the Fall, it would have been drawing to a close by the time the film aired.

#MCUprepares to face the cosmic threat of Thanos and the Black Order. What's more, the delayed launch of Season 5 means the series will still be running when Infinity War hits the box office. Season 4 was divided into three 'pods,' and if Marvel took a similar approach then we'd potentially see a whole third pod exploring the aftermath of Thanos's invasion!

Drawing The Threads Together
concept-art-for-avengers-infinity-war-credit-marvel-comics.jpg

Concept art for 'Avengers: Infinity War'. [Credit: Marvel Comics]
But Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may well be tying into the movies more than we think - through the character of Tony Stark. He has a unique understanding of the scale of the threats facing the world. What's more, concept art for Infinity War has suggested he's taken the Iron Man initiative to an industrial scale — probably in the cause of planetary defense. It would make sense for Stark to be a supporter of the S.W.O.R.D. initiative, so we can expect to see S.W.O.R.D. using Stark technology. The 2018 Stark Expo — teased on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming is likely about his gathering together the world's greatest minds in this cause, too.

Adding a further explicit connection, in Avengers: Age of Ultron Stark saw a vision of the Avengers defeated. That vision looks set to become a reality — and the bodies of the defeated Avengers were surrounded by mysterious fallen agents. S.W.O.R.D. agents?

Meanwhile, in another subtle nod to S.W.O.R.D., there are indications Brie Larson's Carol Danvers will make her MCU debut in Infinity War. Based on a recent retcon over in the comics, fans have already been speculating that she'll be a background character who works in the field of space exploration; it's entirely possible that #CaptainMarvel's origin has been tied to S.W.O.R.D..

Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 4 Cliffhangers: ‘Inhumans,’ Ghost Rider, Coulson And S.W.O.R.D.

Tony Stark’s vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron is a large part of this theory. The Avengers lay sprawled on the ground on a rock in outer space. Amongst them are a few agents that on first glance look like S.H.I.E.L.D., but their uniforms have a slightly different logo patch. In fact, S.W.O.R.D. appears in the Infinity storyline in the comics. In desperation and in danger of Thanos, the organization asked the Guardians of the Galaxy for help.

Thanos, an extremely powerful alien, is the main baddie in Avengers: Infinity War, and who better to help the Avengers deal with an extraterrestrial threat than the Guardians and S.W.O.R.D. This sub-division of SHIELD’s presence has been foreshadowed by the fact the show almost exclusively deals with alien and inhuman threats and Phil Coulson himself is part Kree.

INTRODUCING INHUMANS
When Agent Coulson looked out the window, we saw a glowing blue ball. If Marvel’s Inhumans wasn’t set to premiere in September, this wouldn’t mean anything. However, it can’t be a coincidence the ‘Blue Area of the Moon’ is where the Inhumans settled the city of Attilan. The Inhuman Royal Family we will meet in the series seek refuge on Earth after a war on their home city. If whatever alien race attacked Attilan is an enemy of the Inhumans, who's to say they won't’ be an enemy of SHIELD (or should we say S.W.O.R.D.) as well?

inhumans-royal-family-promo-marvel.png
The Inhuman Royal Family.Marvel

When asked about the large blue glowing light in space, Agents of SHIELD writers told Entertainment Weekly, “Oh, it’s a clue. Read into it as hard as you can. I can’t wait until you see it. Everything is a clue. We can’t say anything really about the end. It’s all meant to get you asking these questions, so at least we did our job there.”

Interestingly enough, the blue area of the moon is also closely tied to The Watchers, an alien race teased in the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, who were seen chatting with Stan Lee on the moon about events in the MCU.

GREATER MCU IMPACT
Good thing Agents of SHIELD was renewed for Season 5 because this ending introduces a lot of possibilities. With Inhumans and Infinity War both on the horizon in the MCU, it can’t be a coincidence SHIELD left off in space. Ghost Rider also mentions that everything is connected--planets, dimensions, hells. His new dimension hopping trick he’s learned is all to similar to Doctor Strange , who introduced Marvel fans to the astral plane and dark dimension. With Guardians of the Galaxy set to appear in Infinity War, space is becoming the new battleground in the MCU.

thanos-infinity-war-agents-shield.jpg
The Avengers are going to need all the help they can get. We know the Guardians of the Galaxy are there to help, but what about Agents of SHIELD and Nick Fury?Marvel

The aftermath of Captain America: The Winter Soldier was reflected on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Captain America: Civil War’s Superhero Registration Act (aka Sovokia Accords) was also reflected on the show with the introduction of inhumans, which has resulted in a spin off film-turned-show called Marvel’s Inhumans . This working relationship gives us no reason to believe the series hasn’t also also been foreshadowing future happenings in the Marvel film universe. It’s also worth noting Carol Danvers is closely associated with S.W.O.R.D. Also known as Captain Marvel, the Marvel hero is getting her own film set to release in early 2019.
