The end of Aida was so....anti-climactic. I can not believe that she went out so....unceremoniously. I expected a stronger fight. She is truly human. Her ego made her hang around instead of regrouping and coming back another day.

HUH? What I miss there?

I thought so initially...

but they had to close that out

have her BURN and for Fitz Simmons and the AUDIENCE

to KNOW

she is literally BURNING in hell for what she has done.

But also remember...

she is made with Darkhold magic.

I don't think she is DEAD.

cause technically?

She was NEVER alive.

Mac deserves an Emmy
Him and Yo Yo need a wedding.
That is Ghost Rider period. Nobody else can portray him in anything Marvel
Just cut dude the check and let him do his cameo appearances and everything.
If I was Marvel I'd have him make an appearance in one of the infinity movies and then target a Cinco De Mayo 2019 solo movie release date. That's just me

agreed.

I think the same could be said for Green Arrow, Legio and the Flash.

'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4 Closes With A Hint To S.W.O.R.D. - Will Season 5 Tie In With 'Infinity War'?

Note: This article contains heavy spoilers for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4's finale, "World's End."

"All right, Phil, enough sight-seeing. Get back to work."

What's next for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? This last season has been a breathtakingly successful one, loved by both fans and critics. But it closed in fascinating fashion, revealing that Phil Coulson has just taken a first step into a far wider universe than even he could ever have imagined. Yes, it's official; Marvel fans are reacting in utter excitement, as we look set to move from S.H.I.E.L.D. to S.W.O.R.D.!

What Is S.W.O.R.D.?
an-awesome-moment-credit-abc.jpg

An awesome moment. [Credit: ABC]
If you thought S.H.I.E.L.D. was a crazy acronym, you ain't seen nothing yet! S.W.O.R.D. is the Sentient World Observation and Response Department. It's a top-secret organization created by Joss Whedon during his Astonishing X-Men run, and it has two major focuses: protecting the world from alien threats, and managing human relations with the many alien races of the Marvel Comics Universe.

S.W.O.R.D. enforces human interests in ruthless fashion, traditionally commanded by Commander Abigail Brand - a half-human/half-alien who makes Nick Fury look open and communicative. In the comics, Brand is pretty intense — she was willing to sacrifice the X-Men in order to prevent war with an alien race from the planet Breakworld. More recently, though, S.W.O.R.D. has been playing a major role in the pages of Captain Marvel, where Carol Danvers has taken over the organization.

S.W.O.R.D. is based on an orbital satellite known as the Peak, which stands as a first line of defense against alien invasion. It's very much possible that the closing scene of Season 4, showing Coulson in space, is actually set on the Peak!

Adapting S.W.O.R.D. For The MCU
Until now, we'd actually been a little uncertain whether or not Marvel had the rights to use S.W.O.R.D. — as mentioned, they were introduced in the pages of Astonishing X-Men, and they've often had a strong relationship with Marvel's merry mutants. Still, the Season 4 finale seems to leave us in doubt; we see Coulson and his team brought down by mysterious forces who are waiting for a 'window' (presumably a launch window, to take them into space). Next thing we know, Coulson is based somewhere near an asteroid field! Marvel fans are in no doubt at all; this has to be S.W.O.R.D.

renewed for a fifth season, but — in a surprising twist — it's not going to be part of the fall lineup. Instead, in fall we'll be watching Marvel's new Inhumans TV series; only when that brief 8-episode series has ended will we move on to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. It's a decision that has left fans somewhat bemused, but the closing twist of Season 4 hints at a possible reason.

The story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is building to a head, and the climax will be next year's #InfinityWar. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has traditionally tied into the latest Marvel blockbuster, and fans are particularly eager to see the show link to Infinity War. Unfortunately, had Season 5 began in the Fall, it would have been drawing to a close by the time the film aired.

#MCUprepares to face the cosmic threat of Thanos and the Black Order. What's more, the delayed launch of Season 5 means the series will still be running when Infinity War hits the box office. Season 4 was divided into three 'pods,' and if Marvel took a similar approach then we'd potentially see a whole third pod exploring the aftermath of Thanos's invasion!

Drawing The Threads Together

Concept art for 'Avengers: Infinity War'. [Credit: Marvel Comics]
But Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may well be tying into the movies more than we think - through the character of Tony Stark. He has a unique understanding of the scale of the threats facing the world. What's more, concept art for Infinity War has suggested he's taken the Iron Man initiative to an industrial scale — probably in the cause of planetary defense. It would make sense for Stark to be a supporter of the S.W.O.R.D. initiative, so we can expect to see S.W.O.R.D. using Stark technology. The 2018 Stark Expo — teased on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming is likely about his gathering together the world's greatest minds in this cause, too.

Adding a further explicit connection, in Avengers: Age of Ultron Stark saw a vision of the Avengers defeated. That vision looks set to become a reality — and the bodies of the defeated Avengers were surrounded by mysterious fallen agents. S.W.O.R.D. agents?

Meanwhile, in another subtle nod to S.W.O.R.D., there are indications Brie Larson's Carol Danvers will make her MCU debut in Infinity War. Based on a recent retcon over in the comics, fans have already been speculating that she'll be a background character who works in the field of space exploration; it's entirely possible that #CaptainMarvel's origin has been tied to S.W.O.R.D..

Now that we have the reveal

Could this be the reason it took them so long to confirm renewal of season 5,since they are transitioning to sword?

apparently there is NO sword.

So I have no IDEA what the hell is going to happen.

I hope they do something similar next season...

now THAT would be hard as hell to duplicate...

but what is kinda ill?

If Aida is "like" Ghost Rider?

she is possibility to return...and so is Ward, Rip etc. if she ever was to recreate the framework the ONE place where she was EVER truly happy

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. producers talk Season 5, setting up the end of the series

Marvel’s flagship series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was on the bubble this year, but it’ll officially be back on ABC next season for 22 episodes. So, what can we expect as the series heads into its fifth year?

IGN caught up with producers Jed Whedon and Jeffrey Bell, and they talked about that Season 4 finale that saw Coulson apparently hanging out on a spaceship, getting ready to go back to work. Which is some type of spaceship work, apparently. The duo wouldn’t confirm much of anything about next season, but when asked if the space reveal is just a fakeout, Whedon hedged that “bait-and-switches aren’t as fun.” So it sounds like at least the first arc will be set in space … somehow.

As for how long the series might run, Bell said they really do have a feeling for where the story is going to end, and they hope to have a heads up ahead of the last season to bring the show to a proper close. Which is good — because leaving Coulson and the gang hanging on a cliffhanger would be a shame.

Here’s an excerpt from Bell’s comments:

“We have a sense of how we'd like the show to end when it ends. We just need to know when that time is coming so we can build to it properly. Our characters have gone through some pretty big arcs over the past four seasons, and we hope to continue to do that going forward. If Season 5 is the last one, we'll build towards it, because when we know that we can adjust for that.”

The fifth season of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set for the midseason on ABC, and the show is shifting from Thursday to Friday, where the ratings expectations will hopefully be a bit less strenuous.

Agents of SHIELD Returns January 2018 — With No Breaks

According to the show’s VFX supervisor, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to debut its next season in January — without breaks.

RELATED: Agents of SHIELD Producers Confirm Season 5 Setting, Talk Time Jump

Mark Kolpack, the visual effects supervisor for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., confirmed in a series of since deleted tweets that the series will return in early 2018. The news comes after ABC’s Upfronts presentation last week, where the network confirmed that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for its fifth season following the eight-episode first season of Marvel’s Inhumans. That series, which will follow the Royal Inhuman family, is set to take over the 9pm ET time-slot on Fridays, which will then transform into the new home for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which has typically aired Tuesday nights on the network.

Although Friday is often viewed as a deathslot for a series, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey has claimed that they’re trying to turn Fridays into “destination for fantasy and sci-fi fans,” by pairing the comic book series with the long-running Once Upon a Time, which is set to see a reboot for its seventh season.

RELATED: Agents of SHIELD Finale Recap: You Can’t Have It All

The decision to push Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from the Fall lineup was an interesting one, however — with Agent Carter no longer around to fill in during the show’s winter break, it’s also a smart move for the network. Constant breaks for a show like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. tend to hurt it in the long-run, and with a series that has already been struggling to retain most of its audience in recent years, it makes more sense to run the fifth season consecutively.

The fifth outing of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to open with a time-jump and an out-of-this-world setting.

Agents Of SHIELD Season 5 Underway

The latest season of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD ended with some major cliffhangers that put most of the characters in a predicament while positioning Phil Coulson for some space-faring exploits.

Now that the fifth season has been given the green light, the writing staff has reported for duty to craft the latest adventures for Coulson, Daisy Johnson, and the rest of the crew.

Because of the forthcoming premiere of Marvel's The Inhumans on ABC we likely won’t see a new episode until 2018, well after the new series finishes its eight-episode inaugural season. But that just gives the writing team a heads up on penning Season 5’s scripts, which are rumored to air uninterrupted unlike this season’s three-pod structure.

The news comes courtesy of many on the writing staff posting that they’re back to work on their various social media accounts.

Series star Chloe Bennet chimed in and gave her own pitch to the writers, hoping for some sense of stability and happiness for the Inhuman agent codenamed Quake.

It’s not an unfair request given that she’s only had two boyfriends—one of them turned out to be evil, the other sacrificed his life, and then she wound up with a version of the evil one who actually was good but ultimately a fake construct in an artificial reality. But that’s life being an agent of SHIELD!

Season 4 ended with the SHIELD agents being captured by some mysterious armed forces after a Daisy LMD framed the team for the attempted murder of General Talbot. Coulson himself made a deal with Ghost Rider to finally end the threat of AIDA, the villainous LMD who was responsible for most of the team’s woes this season.

The finale ended with Coulson observing the vastness of space obstructed by an asteroid field before proclaiming it’s time to get back to work.

What does it all mean?! We’ll find out when Agents of SHIELD returns to ABC in 2018.

The Defenders & S.H.I.E.L.D. Actors Pose Together for Photoshoot
Agents-of-Shield-and-Defenders.jpg

While fans anxiously await a crossover between The Defenders and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a new photoshoot finally combines the two worlds. With the dawn of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a fascinating new concept was born in the world of blockbuster filmmaking. But Marvel weren’t content to keep their new idea strictly in the realm of movies. Like the Star Wars universe, the Marvel world extends beyond the big screen and onto TV. Despite the proposed connection between the films and shows, however, the unity hasn’t always been felt by fans.

Even setting aside the logistics of matching up a film with a TV show, Marvel’s work with Netflix on another corner of their universe has left fans wondering why the various Defenders can’t have a proper crossover with ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Though each have featured nods to the other, audiences are still interested in seeing Coulson team-up with Iron Fist, Quake throw down with Luke Cage, and May and Jessica Jones enter into a staring contest. While we’ll still have to wait for any of those potentially thrilling meet-ups, fans now finally have a chance to see some of the heroes join forces.

Photographer Kremer Johnson just uploaded a new series of images to his portfolio as part of an Emmy-focused photoshoot for Marvel Entertainment. Along with individual portraits, the collection also features a group shot on a classic New-York-City-style set (see below).

Agents-of-SHIELD-and-Defenders-Cast-Photoshoot.jpg

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE REST OF THE PHOTOS

Lined up on a steel beam in the sky are Charlie Cox aka Matt ‘Daredevil’ Murdock, Finn Jones aka Danny ‘Iron Fist’ Rand, Krysten Ritter aka Jessica Jones, Clark Gregg aka Phil Coulson, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb with a Daredevil lunchbox, Chloe Bennet aka Daisy ‘Quake’ Johnson, and Mike Colter aka Luke Cage.

Though a number of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars are left out here, it’s still fun seeing the series’ two ostensible leads joining up with the four core Defenders. Perhaps the photoshoot will kick off a burgeoning friendship that will see the actors insisting they appear in each other’s shows. So far, we’ve seen S.H.I.E.L.D. allude to the events of Daredevil season 2 (despite the timeline difference), while the first season of Daredevil nodded to Carl ‘Crusher’ Creel, the Absorbing Man on S.H.I.E.L.D. Seasons 1 & 2 of Daredevil also featured the Dogs of Hell, a biker gang that first appeared on S.H.I.E.L.D.

Though the small nods and Easter eggs are fun, it would be even greater to see the various heroes team up. If nothing else, the continual actions of the Defenders should certainly warrant S.H.I.E.L.D.’s attention. Of course, there are timeline issues to be sorted through first, even before the unavoidable logistical and scheduling issues are considered. Still, this photoshoot should help to tide over those who are still waiting to see Ghost Rider join the Defenders.

NEXT: HOW S.H.I.E.L.D. COULD CONNECT TO INHUMANS & INFINITY WAR
The Defenders comes to Netflix on August 18. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 premieres in January 2018.
