I told people before this election that these polls worse off the only one who has sort of a good poll, was the Washington post…. And the poll takers underestimated young people, because they really didn’t poll young people. Also, I said this Covid killed a lot of baby boomers in certain areas. This was a huge elephant in the room that people didn’t acknowledge. Be careful now, because Republicans are going to Cheat their ass off after this point.
How many people do you know who have landlines and/or answer calls from numbers they don't recognize?
If they want polls to be accurate they are going to need to go door to door and even then people aren't always comfortable about talking to pollsters about their political beliefs.
In 2016 though republicans were deliberately lying to pollsters to make it look like there was more dem support.

45 was the perfect building block for the GOP after the unthinkable happened a black president. The whole tea party thing was a test project to see how extreme they could go with making the weak, racist and uneducated their pawns and cash cows.

Polling about 50 to 800 or so out of MILLIONS of voters is not a good sample. Especially if it's a GOP leaning pollster that only polls people still using analog phones. That's not sincere polling. And Younger voters tend not to answer unfamiliar numbers calling their smartphone
Despite that, the media still reports pollsters for "uhhhh ohhhh the red wave is coming, quick find cover!!!" ratings. Drama does numbers.

The short answer: Because the media has nothing else to talk about for a 24 hour cycle. They need inflated statistics from polls to make their long, boring discussions about nothing appear more relevant.
The 24-hour news cycle is one of the worst things that happened to TV. They fill it with inflated statistics from bullshit polls and constantly, those who work in an office know this, constantly turn what could be emails into needless hour-long meetings
