Cp3 hammy acting up again. Just when Harden and the Rockets were starting to get hot.

The Rockets are really going to regret giving CP3 that contract. I understand why they did it especially after the great season they had last year but his best years are behind him. They were probably hoping they could get at least 2 more good years like last year with him & Harden but that's not happening.

CP3 is just not as efficient as he was last year. His scoring, 3 point shooting and overall defense is down. He just looks slower on the court. Then on top of that Gordon is having a down year :smh:. It's gonna be a battle all year for them to get a playoff spot.

Golden State might need to consider firing Kerr this offseason to convince KD to stay. If KD leaves, they are done. KD knows he holds all the leverage with the franchise and has been flexing power all season. It's clearly got the organization and a lot of fans uneasy (we used to have 30+ Warrior fans in this thread 2 years ago, now its like 2 and they comment on the Lakers more.).

Kevin Durant, Steve Kerr at odds over how much Warriors should pass

The Golden State Warriors offense struggled Wednesday in a loss to the the Utah Jazz, scoring just 103 points, well below their season average of 115.

The San Francisco Chronicle noted that the team’s trademark ball movement was missing against the stout Jazz defense, resulting in a season-low 18 assists.

Head coach Steve Kerr, whose arrival in Golden State in 2014 came with a basketball philosophy built on sharing the ball on offense, wasn’t pleased with his team’s effort on that front against Utah.
Steve Kerr wants more ball movement

“We’re not moving the ball,” Kerr said. “We’re not playing the way we’ve played the last few years, where the ball is really moving and we’re taking great shots.”

The addition of Kevin Durant in 2016 brought with it a clash in philosophies. Durant, an unmatched physical specimen and arguably the league’s most talented scorer, thrives in isolation and pick-and-roll situations where he can take advantage of his superior size and abilities.

And while he’s perfectly capable of playing his role in moving the ball until the perfect open shot is found, the ball is going to inevitably stop with Durant sometimes. If he’s not looking for those situations, he’s not going to maximize his advantages.
Durant wants more isolation, pick and roll

Durant spoke to that clash of styles after the loss to Utah, which consistently gives Golden State problems. It sounds like he doesn’t agree with Kerr that lack of ball movement is the problem.

“They’re selling out to stop those threes,” Durant said.” So we pass the ball too much, it’s not going to flying around against a good defensive team like that. I know we want to have that ball moving and get 30 assists and 300 passes. But sometimes, it’s not going to be that way.”
Warriors offense not clicking as usual

So what do the Warriors do? The San Jose Mercury News notes that Golden State ranks 16th in the NBA in 3-pointers, a shocking number from the team that led the league in that category in 2015-16 prior to the arrival of Durant.

While they’re second in the league when they do shoot from distance, converting 38.7 percent of their attempts, they’ve gotten away from the philosophy that led to their rise as an NBA juggernaut.

They’re 21-11 this season, well off the pace of the 73-win and 67-win teams of years past, and even lagging last year’s team that won 58 games.

Rockets' Chris Paul to be out 'some time' with hamstring injury

Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul will be out indefinitely after suffering a strained left hamstring in Thursday night's 101-99 loss to the Miami Heat, head coach Mike D'Antoni said.

Paul will undergo an MRI on Friday morning. D'Antoni did not specify how long Paul would be out, saying only, "It'll be some time."

Paul played 12 minutes and had four points before exiting with 6:43 left in the second quarter and the Rockets leading 45-37.

The injury came on a relatively innocuous-looking play. Paul dribbled behind his back near midcourt while cutting right, and the ball got knocked away by Miami's Derrick Jones Jr. That was the moment when Paul grabbed the back of his left leg, the telltale sign of a hamstring issue.

He went directly to the Houston locker room, never returned and was dressed and gone before the room opened after the game.

Without Chris Paul in the lineup this season, the Rockets are 0-5 and have been outscored by 9.4 points per game.Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports
"It's definitely tough, because he's a big-time playmaker and ball handler for us," Rockets guard Eric Gordon said. "In this offense you need all of the playmaking that you can have, and usually me, Chris, and James [Harden] have the ball in our hands trying to play-make for other people and provide good scoring."

Paul is 33 and not even half a season into a four-year, $159.7 million contract that he signed with Houston in July. He was struggling with his shot of late, connecting on 34 percent of his tries in his most recent five games entering the matchup in Miami, but he was still a big factor in Houston being able to match a season high with five straight wins.

"It's definitely going to be tough," Gordon said of the prospects of being without Paul for a while again. "But we've just got to make adjustments and play even better."

Paul suffered a right hamstring strain in the playoffs last season, missing Games 6 and 7 of the Western Conference finals -- both losses -- against the Golden State Warriors.

This season, Houston is 0-5 and has been outscored by 9.4 points per game without Paul in the lineup.

Paul has missed time because of hamstring injuries on five occasions throughout his career and a total of 19 games (including the playoffs), with his teams going 9-10, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Paul is averaging 15.6 points, 8.0 assists and 2.1 steals this season for the Rockets, who host San Antonio on Saturday.
