Jones is gonna be the goat..long as he retires..within the next two years..brah

Gonna be interesting to see if Jones-Cormier III ever happens, and also if Jones (or Cormier) get a money fight with Lesnar - if he ever returns.

Definitely some interesting match-ups for Jones out there. I want to see him versus the likes of Thiago Santos, Stipe Miocic, Johnny Walker, Francis Ngannou, etc. All guys in the light-heavy & heavyweight divisions.

Great game plan & performance from Usman in the co-main event. He stayed working ... putting out offense. Major amount of Octagon control, ground work, having Woodley along the fence. When Woodley had that early sub attempt on him, Usman stayed busy looking to free himself from the position, while also damaging the body of Woodley. Lots of punches to soften up Woodey's side/core ... and also along the leg/hip. Stuff that pays dividends later in the fight as you're ahead in output, and also have better cardio/endurance than your opponent. Really liked that sequence earlier in the fight when Usman landed the hard standing elbow ... got a takedown a bit later, followed by securing full mount. Props to Woodley's cornermen for doing their best to keep him in the fight. Din Thomas was pleading with him to bite down on his mouthpiece, move forward & throw heavy. Duke Roufus saying he needed to lock in a sub or KO to have any chance to win later in the fight. They told him they weren't playing ... he needed to stop the fight to have any chance to win (already being down on the scorecards).

I'm a fan of both Woodley and Usman. Props to the new champ. If he ever faces Crappington, he is gonna SMASH him. Colby has good cardio, but that's about it. Doesn't have nearly as much power/strength as Kamaru Usman.

Fuck all that. Take the DQ, take the belt, take the bigger payday for the rematch.

All that honor in not taking the DQ is overrated. It's not Smith's responsibility to not take the DQ, it's Jones responsibility not to do disqualifying shit.
I tend to agree with this from the business perspective. But I'm glad he didn't.

I think Woodley's about to find out his boy's a snake now that their fortunes have changed. I see Askren campaigning for a top 5 fight en route to a 170 title shot, fuck 165 (which doesn't exist).
Nah, he always wanted to fight Usman even when he thought he was gonna lose. Woodley got his ass kicked. They ain't gonna fight each other and Woodley ain't getting that rematch no time soon. And they've been best friends for years. I think Woodley would know is he's a snake already by now, since they've been involved in competitions and been through shit already. Ben wants 165 but if they don't make it and he finishes hia list of people, I don't see why he won't go for the belt.

Woodley out hinself Inna terrible position losing like that. His path back to the title will be something I'm not sure he's ready to put in work for.

Thanks I was looking for interviews from Munhoz. He just finished Codys career. That young man's gonna have to go DEEP to find a way back up. Can't believe Dominick let him beat him like that.

You're welcome. Yeah - it's crazy to think how easily Garbrandt styled & showboated on Cruz in their fight a couple of years back. Especially considering how smart and cerebral a fighter Cruz is. Mind was playing tricks on him or something. All his various injuries over the years ... knowing he's a Decisionator & unlikely to stop many of his opponents. All that wear and tear over the years ... the many injury rehabs off & on ... I tend to think he probably got caught up in the moment when he fell behind versus Cody & spent the better part of their 25 mins trying to avoid getting KO'd or TKO'd by Garbrandt. Anything to avoid being embarassed further.

Wild also to think Dom' got that closely-contested & debated decision win over Dillashaw to reclaim his title (before losing it to Garbrandt). Then Garbrandt in turn getting TKO'd twice by Dillashaw. Losing the title to Dillashaw in the process, and the immediate rematch the following year.

The same Dillashaw who in January tried to move down 10lbs to face Cejudo ... looking to become the double-champ ... only to have Cejudo stop him in less than 40 seconds!

MMA math is a motherfucker, for real.

Hard to bet against him because Woodley was submitting and knocking mawfuckas out in dominant fashion.
I don't think Usman would do a well against Till or Thompson-- but at this point .... He just might. That wrestling, stick you like glue, and have the cardio to do it for five rounds style hasn't lost yet.

Jones should finished Smith, dude been finished 12x, get his ass outta there, he was overmatched.

As for Woodley he finally ran into the wrong matchup that could take advantage of him backing up into the cage and only looking to throw overhand rights. Lol @ his corner yelling at him to go forward and throw combinations, you've been letting his ass get away with that bullshit all these years, he doesn't know how to fight any other way.
Definitely some truth to that. His cardio issue also REALLY showed up. When he can just back away from people and fight in spurts because they're scared of his wrestling , he can keep it up for five rounds-- but when he has to fight the whole time like Usman made him do, that old accusation I thought he had gotten over showed itself again. He didn't wanna come forward and show any offense cuz he knew he'd get tired and possibly finished. My cardio ain't the greatest either so I know the feeling lol

It would be interesting to watch Usman nullify Till's game. Woodley made easy work of Till last year, and Usman just did the same to Woodley last night.

Some interesting match-ups ahead for Till and Thompson respectively.

Till will be facing Masvidal in that headline fight overseas later this month. Thompson will be facing Pettis in the months ahead. Going to be interesting to watch their striking. Pettis being the smaller fighter, and Thompson looking to counterfight.
