After listening to Tyon’s press conference and other interviews, I’m now concluding that Covington fucked up Tyron’s plans. He really wanted to beat Covington’s ass and then vacate the belt to move up leaving the division to his buddy Askren. At 36 he’s set on a trilogy with Usman and then moving up? Sounds like a tough road...
Yeah...Woodley will have at least one fight before his re-match with Usman. Who knows how all this weirdness will play out. Especially with Tyrone and Ben being the best of friends.
The way he lost that fight, there's nothing to say he wouldn't have lost to Covington. He doesn't like to use his wrestling and I'm guessing it's because of cardio. Against other wrestlers he would have to because they would another him like Usman did. Colby is capable of the same. Tyron might be motivated different by Colby but judging from that, I'd rather see Usman handle that.
Tyron just seems relieved to not have to hold that crown for a sec. I almost believe he gave it to Usman so he wouldn't have the pressure of possibly losing to Cody after all that build up.
I agree, before the fight Tyron spoke about the pressure of holding the title to keep his other projects relevant. He had a good run as a champ....

Great picture! He was saying in one of the lead-up clips (Anatomy of a Fighter or UFC Embedded) that it was her first time attending one of his pro fights live. Knew she had to be there for his special moment. Gotta love that!
I'm always impressed with the speed and accuracy of the elite in MMA, kickboxing, karate, etc.
Jon Jones, Edson Barboza, Raymond Daniels, Stephen Thompson, etc. Incredible how they can attack people with their arsenals. That's not even mentioning their hands, knees, elbows, and more too.

I've watched some events with pops over the past decade. He's always surprised there aren't more foot breaks & injuries. People kicking shins, elbows, heads, etc. He jokes that it's his own knee arthritis kicking in, and if he were a fighter he'd be walking around with broken toes & more constantly.
Usman is young and hungry, and I think he’s gonna be the champ for awhile.
I agree. Even if he does suffer a loss or two in the years ahead, he'll still be near the top of the division. Very well-rounded skill set. Strong fighter.
