RIP Fidel, he was a Saint to African People. He will be remembered for his support in our various liberation struggles, and sending Cuban Doctors throughout the African continent.

I understand the support for Castro, but most of you have never lived under a dictatorship. It's a horrible thing.

In Cuba , you can't even flush your toilet paper after you wipe your ass. You have to put it in a trash can with the other folks. It was time for him to go and his ideas have to die with him.

I never understood the worship of Castro. It was like the cool afro centric charm, for most blacks. Most American's don't know shit about Castro, cept he meet with marcom and it makes for a really cool t-short to wear and pretend like you woke.

In life, there are winners and losers. The winners always get to tell the story the way they want it told. Everybody who's a villain to some is a hero to others. And vice versa. In America, the people they have held up as heroes for the past 300 years are villains to all non-white people. When you are black, you must endure seeing the people who have murdered, raped, stolen from, enslaved, and exploited your people held up as heroes. But we get told who we can hold up as our heroes. If someone did a lot of good for black people, we can't consider him a hero because he also did something bad. For instance, any black person ever who has had any mindset towards white people other than, "lets all get along and pray." And I can understand Fidel cracking down on dissent. He knew first-hand that the Zionists used the media and political opposition to lay the groundwork for a coup. Jesus isn't walking the earth. All good people have done bad. I'm going to focus on the good.

Putting shitty toilet paper in a trash can in Cuba vs. Killer cops in America.

I guess you missed the part where dissidents are summarily executed by firing squad over there, uh?

The fact that you only picked up that point shows that you don't know what it feels like to live under a dictatorship. I have done so.

These days Americans cops are damn near like a firing squad.

What's the difference between a dissident being executed and person being killed by a cop simply for being black.

If Cuba is a dictatorship then what the hell is the USA, when every nigga in this message board is a heartbeat away from becoming a hashtag.

Have you ever been to cuba?
Ive been three times.

second you fail to realize why countries like cuba, north korea, zimbabwe, venezuela etc...struggle economically.

anyone who stands up to white supremacy/colonialists will face an embargo.

The difference is very clear. You have chosen to remain here and take chanc s of being executed by a cop instead of seeking asylum in Cuba.

Instead of making an assumption as to why I remain in America, why don't you go into detail about what the differences are between Cuba and the US for a black person. Give me a reason to look at Castro differently. If you want people to see your point, then you are going to have go into more detail as to why you feel the way you feel.

Oh I thought you knew. Anyway, when someone controls the Government of an entire nation and you stunt the growth of that nation and its people because of your own personal belief, that is in itself evil. When you execute dissidents without a trial, that is evil.

As for the difference between Cuba and life of Blacks in this Country, surely you jesting about that. I agree that we don't stand on an equal footing with whites in this country, but if you cannot identify the opportunities available to you as a person, which is absolutely not available to a Cuban, then I have no further comments.

 all the hypocrites in here acting like Cuba was some paradise, I will bet not one person here is willing to move there.
Nah.. that won't happen. It's all fun and games to watch Cubans suffer and regress while you cheer them on and then get in your 2106 Maxima to go to work the next day. Lol

Lol. They won't even get out of thier cars to buy fast food. They'd rather sit in their cars for a longer time at the drive through but they have it as rough as Cubans though. This shit is comical as hell.

There is nothing funny living under a totalitarian dictator. You spend your lifetime building a small business and next thing the government seizes it and puts their name on it and ask you to work ther for $17 day, etc.
There is nothing fun about being executed in public for selling drugs.
There is nothing fun about being called out of a meeting and marched straight to the firing squad because they think you're not loyal, etc.
I have lived under dictators and people become powerless sheep because of fear. Cubans don't want their current situation but BGOL thinks it's cool from behind their keyboards.

I was thinking of making a thread about this episode the other day. What pissed me off was the way the people who were doing well didn't want to talk about how much money they were making but he would say how much he thought they were making. "they used to make $100 a month now they make over $100 a day." I was like "what part of 'i don't want to talk about how much money I'm making don't you understand?" But what I also noticed was how, they talk about cuba has free college but then you have people with engineering or law degrees working at a bakery. All the education in the world doesn't mean a damn thing if there are no jobs.

Who exactly said Cuba was a paradise? I think what we've seen is people liking the fact that Castro stood up to the US. On a message board that is overwhelmingly filled with Black American men, people who give the US the middle finger are going to be praised. I'm not sure we have people here calling Cuba a paradise and I don't think people are being keyboard warriors. I think if people like Jagu, Flawless and others want to point out the other side of the coin, the should go into detail or point out links or literature can back up their points. Jagu's reply on post #193 is eye opening and probably should have came earlier in the thread.

You got phds driving taxis for $20 /day, but you got lawn care dudes making $500/day in the U.S. I'll take the US option for now.

I'll be happy to post links when I get to a PC but I'm talking from living under Nigerian dictators who were not even as bad as Castro, expect for General Sanni Abacha.

Also, imagine the positive results of the influx of huge cruise ships going to Cuba? They will have the resources to build their infrastructure to make them more productive and progressive. Imagine the influence of readily available unfiltered information to everybody, as opposed to the Government fed information that they all get now

Ironically now that Cuba is opening their boarders, the majority now have a chance of living a much better life. That's unless you think living in a shack is the good life

Not everything is about money
Why don't you tell me what it's about. Do you hunt your food and recycle your urine for water?

Let me guess, everything is about getting some remedial level healthcare dictated by the government and getting free education only to drive a 60 year old taxi.

Funny how BGOL talk about the government monitoring them through the internet but then y'all turn around and prefer government rationed food and government dictated healthcare. This shit is bizarre as hell.

Youre wasting your time man, some these kats are just goofy.

if you like mugabe, they will say well why dont you just move there to his country.

its like me asking them do you individually live in the best city in the world, and if they said no i would say why dont you move to the best one.
never mind you have families/ties/language/and a host of other reasons why you reside where you at.

Folks tend to forget why countries like Haiti etc....are in the state they are today.

The U.S has the largest GDP in the world yet it's the country that probably has the worst quality of life out of all 1st world countries. It's not all about money when so many Americans are stressed, and then turn to alcohol and other drugs as an escape for the stress. It's not all about money when there's so many obsessed americans due to the food and how processed/unhealthy it is. It's not all about money when you have some cities in this country that's as statistically dangerous as the most dangerous cities in 3rd world countries.

Instead, please point out the specific things that make life experience under a Cuban dictatorship better than your life in the U.S. as a Black person who is suffering so badly.

Those are self imposed problems that you're talking about or people just being spoilt. There is nothing to stress about in the U.S. My experience here is that , so far as you are healthy, you will always find a way to survive so far as you stay in your lane. In Cuba, that is not an option, you wait for your ration. As for obesity, that is a personal problem. There is an abundance of fresh food in the U.S. But some people are addicted to the smell of Popeyes and other shit. That's not a societal problem but a personal one.

What dictators have you lived under?
Gen murtala Mohamed. Nice guy but I got tear gassed under his regime and I was barely 6 years old.
Gen Obasanjo. Executed two of my friends' fathers
Major Gen Buhari and Idiagbon - executed drug dealers at public firing squads on Sunday after church amongst other things.
Maj Gen Babangida- nullified election results and made himself president.
Gen Sanni Abacha. I didn't really live under him but did all types of foul shit.

Let's keep the subject of the discussion as the difference between the US and despot run Countries. Don't bring socialist Nordic Countries in yet.
Point out a dictator Country that you're really itching for the US to emulate. Is it Zimbabwe, Cuba, Syria?
