A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested in connection with the death of a 3-year-old boy whose body was found in concrete.

Wichita Police toldKWCH that Miranda Miller and Stephen Bodine were booked on Monday morning on felony murder and child abuse charges.

The pair are believed to have killed 3-year-old Evan Brewer, Miller's son.

Authoritiesdiscovered the child's remainsencased in concrete inside a south Wichita home in September.

TheWichita Eaglereported that Brewer's body was found by a landlord who was cleaning the home after evicting Miller and Bodine.

The landlord reportedly discovered a concrete structure, which was omitting a strange odor, Wichita Police told the publication.

He contacted authorities, who discovered the remains. They were later positively identified as the toddler's.

Police told KWCH the district attorney will make a formal decision about the charges against Miller and Bodine by the end of the week.

The couple has been in custody on charges not related to Brewer's death since his body was discovered on Sept. 2.

According to the Wichita Eagle, the pair were taken into custody on counts related to child custody.

Brewer's father, Carlo Brewer, reportedly contacted authorities with concerns for his son's welfare in the days before his death.

Police said authorities went to Miller's home, conducted surveillance and contacted neighbors in an effort to locate the 36-year-old Miller.

At the time, she'd been named in a protection from abuse order, according to the newspaper. The document, filed by the child's father, detailed a number of instances of alleged abuse dating back more than a year.

One allegation in the document, obtained by the Wichita Eagle, cited an injury to Evan's nose and stated that the boy was "filthy and without appropriate clothing."

A witness statement in the order alleged that the child had been beaten "to the point of death" while in the mother's care.

There were also orders filed against Bodine, 40, according to the outlet.

Police concluded that she was intentionally trying to evade law enforcement officials and had likely gone outside state lines.

The boy's stepmother, Sara Kirby, told the outlet she and her husband are "relieved" by the charges against Miller and Bodine.

"Although we will never get over the loss of Evan we are extremely relieved to see these charges!" she said.

Carl Brewer, a local Gubernatorial hopeful and Evan's grandfather, thanked investigators who worked his grandson's case for bringing them one step close to justice.

"I am grateful to the men and women who worked to investigate Evan's death and those who will prosecute the case. We have hope the trail will bring justice for Evan and begin healing our family," he wrote.

Stripper’s boyfriend sets fire to strip club in fit of jealous rage

A West Virginia man charged with torching a strip club told police that he set the blaze because he did not want his girlfriend to continue dancing at the establishment, court records show.

According to police, Creio Chance Bishop, 21, yesterday attempted to burn down JB's Gentlemen's Club in Huntington. The 3:30 AM fire damaged the club’s front door, air conditioner, surveillance camera, siding, and an exterior wall.

Investigators allege that Bishop watched the fire burn from across the street and even yelled at a passerby to mind his own business when the witness appeared to be dialing 911. Bishop was subsequently apprehended in the parking lot of a Walmart across from the strip club.

No injuries occurred in the fire, which did minimal damage to the strip club’s exterior.

Upon his arrest, Bishop reportedly revealed a personal motive for the blaze: He wanted to force the closure of JB’s as a way of keeping his girlfriend, McKayla Biedenbach, from continuing to perform at the strip joint.

After being detained, Bishop “excitedly stated he was tired of his girlfriend working at JB’s so he set it on fire,” a criminal complaint alleges.

Biedenbach, seen below, has worked at the club for six months, though her employment now appears in jeopardy. Jim Reed, the strip club’s manager, told a WSAZ reporter that if Bishop makes bail, he could not risk keeping Biedenbach as a dancer. “He might do this again,” Reed said. “It might be worse next time.”

Charged with second-degree arson, Bishop is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
