Money is a funny thing. We have it our accounts and pockets but it isn’t ours. Our money should be in banks and credit unions in America and internationally that we control. I hear and read folks saving their money in white institutions and earning paltry rates. We should not only have black certificate of deposits but bonds. Bonds to build. We should have an idea of the floor and foundation we need set.

We know about the impending fafsa disaster in a few months. High school age children will need jobs and graduates will need loans? We can do something about that. What is the point of having economic guns, bullets, and trigger fingers and not put them together to do the thing we need to get done? Which HBCU is in dire need of funding when they are attacked? How can we get them the emergency help they need when they need it? We need state coordinators.

I don't shop at Target anyway. Wish I could give up Walmart but the nearest Costco is 30+ minutes away. I quit shopping at Kroger during the pandemic because their prices went through the roof and never came down, plus they never recovered from their inventory shortages. We have a farmer's market but its full of cac vendors who I don't like. There is a grocery store about a mile from me but its hood as hell full of cheap offbrand food. So, I'm stuck with Walmart. I already killed my Amazon Prime account, it was up for renewal this month and I was already going to say fuck em before this DEI crap started. I'm about to build a chicken coop and start a garden come spring.

The idea with a targeted boycott is that you show and no uncertain terms that over the specific time frame your sales tanked because Black people refuse to shop in your store.

So they're probably doing 40 days because one it's a relatively quick time frame and two because it's being done by a pastor probably doing the whole 40 days and 40 nights kind of thing.

Also I do like the idea of targeted boycotts over certain time frames because depending on where people live target might be the most convenient or easiest place to get the things you need. There's a lot of places where Walmart is the only game in town or Target might be the only game in town that you can get to reasonably. Remember Target is the second largest retailer in America they're everywhere.


Finally I really got to point out that some of y'all look for any excuse not to do something you see other Black people do. There's a lot of people in here that have some real coonish tendencies and your first instinct is to make an excuse as to why you shouldn't boycott Target or why it won't work. The only time I go to Walmart is to use the Walmart rental program.

What is the Walmart rental program you ask?

Well, whenever I travel, I never sleep on hotel linens. In all your time going to hotels you've never seen a blanket on their card, though they have a lot of sheets.

I go to Walmart as soon as I land, I get blankets, sheets, maybe pillows, maybe an air fryer, a speaker, maybe some earbuds, maybe even underwear and t-shirts. I bought two monitors for work, and also a keyboard as well.

I buy all the comforts of home. Last time I even bought a blender for smoothies in the morning...

The day before I fly back, I take all that shit back and get every one of my dollars back. Every dollar.

The cashiers don't ask any questions. Boom! The Walmart rental program is an effect every time you travel. You could even buy clothes and return them. Last year, I bought a couple hoodies and returned them because I got cold.

All I carried with me was a couple pairs of jeans, a couple sweaters, five pairs underwear, and if I need a T-shirt I would buy it there. A book bag with wheels is all I need to travel

Yeah Amazon is the one that I'd struggle to not use since I buy damn near everything from them.

Truthfully, I don't think it's realistic to not use all three of the biggest retailers (Target, Walmart, Amazon.)

Not shopping at one or two is possible but all three isn't IMO.

Especially when your area doesn't have alternatives such as Costco. The Costco in my area won't be open until early 2026

There are many areas even in NY/NJ where certain stores simple DOMINATE and alternatives are not really viable options.

People have budgets existing memberships travel time medical prescriptions etc.

But I REALLY LIKE this plan.

I think everyone that CAN boycott should.

Write an email saying your disappointed and looking for alternates.

I would rent a TV but that's too much to set up so I don't do it but not because I wouldn't do it, because I would. I need the comforts of home and I got an 83-in TV at home goddamn it

If I have a washer in the room I might even do underwear and t-shirts if I want to save room in my bag... And if I want to be extra petty.

The day before you come back send all of that shit back. All of it. It costs you nothing. Not a goddamn thing in Walmart doesn't even ask questions, they just take this shit back

They do that a lot now which can be confusing.

I also try to always check prime eligible when I'm searching because those are the only ones that will guarantee free shipping and the potential for 2 day delivery and are sold or covered by Amazon.

They're seems to be a lot more vendors on there which is creating many of these issues.
