See Whoopi Goldberg reprise her beloved Star Trek role as Guinan on Picard

The cohost of The View originated the role on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The latest trailer has dropped for the upcoming season of Paramount+'s Star Trek: Picard, and it comes with a visit from an old friend. Somebody prep the Earl Grey!
Whoopi Goldberg is back as Guinan, the role she originated on Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1988 to 1993. But before she helps Picard (Patrick Stewart) understand the change in time, she's going to need some piping hot tea.
"Your answers are not in the stars," she says to Picard. "And they never have been."

The trailer also features a lovely view of downtown Los Angeles and a little boy who gets an unwanted face massage. And what's in that ampule, Q?

Goldberg's starring role on Picard seems to hearken back to a 2020 appearance by Stewart on The View. "I'm here with a formal invitation, and it's for you, Whoopi," Stewart said at the time. "Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of Star Trek: Picard, and all his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season."
"I've said this on the show before, but Star Trek was one of the great experiences, from the beginning to the end," Goldberg said, who appeared to choke up. "I had the best, best, best time ever."
The season 2 cast of Picard includes Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Annie Werschling, Jeri Ryan, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Orla Brady, and Brent Spiner. On the season, Picard and his crew will travel to the past in an attempt to solve the ills of the 21st Century.

Picard will begin its second season on Thursday, March 3. New episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays. The series is already in production on the third season.

I truly hope they explore Guinan's powers.
Q is back and would love to him make mince meat of her.

Damn I loved Q's intro.
Agreed. I had heard the soundbite in the preview, but seeing what they attached to it was kinda incredible.

I like what this show tries to do, but at the end of the day, I can't shake the feeling that it probably should have been done about 10 years ago. As much as I love Patrick Stewart, he is... well, old. It's not a crime, and I'm sure he gets around great for someone his age. But I can never get past how much he seems like he shouldn't be actively having adventures at this point.

They've kinda gotten around it by building a "crew" of sorts like the old days, but it still feels off to me.

First episode was nostalgic call backs, The Stargazer, the borg, the borg queen, Q, Guinan. Let's see if the rest of the season can stand on its own two feet.

The time travel aspect is going to be tricky. The fish out of water trope is easy to let run on for too long.

The visuals looked nice, but I want to see some ethical quandaries and exploration of the human condition, not just explosions and vulgarity.

It was GREAT to see Delancie back as "Q" again.
Dude looks great as well too.

My theory is that "Q" is somewhat going insane and/or dying.
And is somehow blaming Picard for it.
And He wants to perform one final "act" for his "adversary".
He just seemed way more malevolent that usual.
Which could also mean He's working outside/against The Continuum.

And the Time Travel Trope is getting really old.
I hope that shit isn't going on the entire season.

The art department is kicking ass, they even got michael and denise okuda to assist with the starship set designs, and LCARS okudagrams.

The writing still sucks though.

Like, who TF cares about 'the adventures of the soul-less, inanimate, and dead-behind-the-eyes, android copy of the late Jean Luc Picard' anyways?

WTF is wrong with Q? :dunno:

Another great episode. I'd say it's third best.
I rank Episode 3 last, mostly because it's so short.

I count three guest stars in Picard Episode 4.
My advice, check it out as soon as you can so you don't get spoiled.
I see youtube is already spoiling.

There are five scenes basically pairing two actors together.
The chemistry is so good between them all.
It's not like Star Trek Discovery where i'm reaching for the remote to FF to the next scene.

I like the series so far.
