I stopped playing Elden Ring at the end of July. I played it this past Friday and got my ass kicked at the Haligtree...
It's not you. Souls games are generally not for everyone. Elden Ring just blew up unexpectedly. No shame in defeat with this type of game. Same with games similar to Hades.Bro... This shit got me wondering if video games done passed me by. Nothing about this shit feels familiar fast enough to keep from dying until you get good. Everybody told me to just stick with it. But when I get home from work the last thing I'm trying to do is rage quit and I've been busy on the weekends so I aint really even got going. I'm basically at the first church I ou come to past ole boy on the horse when you first start.
im sitting here waiting on ups to deliver my ps5 ..... thing is i never really fukk'd with these types of games ..... caught a double deal special jawn that came with Skyrim ..... jumped on it for a hot minute and aint been back since .....It's not you. I'll dig into Christmas break, cause watching YouTube videos it's looks dope. But aint no fun dying over and over. It's like a good, deep ass movie that you gotta be in the mood to sit and give all your attention to. I just be wanting to come home and watch "Friday." Some mindless shit i aint really gotta pay attention to and have fun. It's not you. Souls games are generally not for everyone. Elden Ring just blew up unexpectedly. Until you get a hold on the mechanics and how to create builds I'd say go on YouTube and watch some guides about how to get Op early in the game. There's a few weapons that will help you get into the groove and start having fun. The good thing about Elden ring is how much more open it is then the rest of the souls games, you don't have to stay stuck in any given part for too long so go explore and beat up some smaller enemies, you don't have to fight something if it's in front of you unless you get locked into a boss fight screen.Bro... One tip that helped me is to be patient in fights, in most games you're trying to land giant damage Dealing combos, in souls games every strike and dodge needs to be strategic, it you're having a hard time get close, strike once or max twice and then get the fuck out of there, also intuitively you're going to want to roll away from attacks but In souls games that usually gets you hit, roll into/past attacks right before they hit and use your invincibility frames on the roll.
Once you get your first big victory against something that seemed unkillable you'll understand the hype of the game, one of the most satisfying feelings in all of gaming Imo. But don't get frustrated, play I'm chunks, explore and enjoy!
Absolutely, that's why I waited a few videos guides for some early op builds, best to just follow a specific guide for a build until you get the hang of the game and what the stats do.More importantly, don't try to raise every stat because each build requires certain stats.
A mage most important stats are vigor, mind and intelligence.
The samurai most important stat is dex and strength.
The most important stat for all classes is vigor. When,I first started playing I would go on Reddit and read people bitch and complain about getting one shotted and when folks asked about how much vigor the OP has and the OP tells them. Folks would make fun of the OP for having such a low vigor.
I normally play as a dual dagger, archer rogue in RPGs. But I hear that shits damn near impossible in this game. I'm not that far in, should I try for an easier build???More importantly, don't try to raise every stat because each build requires certain stats.

yeah Elden ring is not one of those games you can blitz through. it takes time to get the mechanics down, to get a sense of where you are going (its open world, and there is a compass at the top of the screen). Takes a considerable amount of time before everything starts to 'click' with you. the first couple times i sat down to play, i ran around limgrave (the opening area) a bit, then eventually quit. i just wasn't 'getting it'.Bro... I appreciate the write up fam. I got 5 days of starting Friday. I'll sit down and get it. I popped the game in a third time and decided to really SLOW DOWN and take everything in. this includes learning how to allocate stats to your build (how to level up), how to interpret all the stats/numbers on the menu screen (weapon attributes still is somewhat confusing to me).
you have to adopt the mindset of spending a lot of time in each area before you go somewhere else. Gather/collect everything you find on the ground (flowers, rune fragments, etc). practice fighting, rolling, and defense. also parrying if you have a shield. And guard counters (where you allow the enemy to strike your shield while holding down R2 - this generates a vicious heavy counter-attack that breaks an enemy's stance. Allowing you to then land a critical hit.
Once you can beat some of the easier enemies, stay in the area and farm them (kill them over and over to level up)
The grace sites have a trail of light coming off of them, telling you the direction to the next one in order to progress in the game.
HOWEVER - you don't always want to follow that due to the difficulty spikes.
Clear out limgrave
head south BEFORE you head north. the next area south (weeping peninsula) is kind of like the area you are in now. level up some more and collect some cool loot. The difficulty starts to ramp up if you go north too soon.
at the grace site in front of that castle with all them enemies, you will get visited by a spirit woman. she will give you access to Torrent (your horse) which will make travel MUCH easier.
Also in that immediate area you will find your first map fragment. Every area has one. Look for a tall stone like structure illuminated with a dull yellowish light (obelisk). pick up the object at the base of it. that is your map fragment. Take time to click on it and you will see the map open up. Then you will start to get a sense of what you have discovered, and where you are going. You will also use the map for fast travel. you have NO idea just how enormous the map is. I'm not kidding either.
Let me know if any of this helps you.
I have beaten the game.
its a long, often frustrating journey but it won game of the year for a reason.
Don't give up.
remake of Final Fantasy 7 ps1what is a reprint? is this a book?
nvm i googled it and now i feel dumb as fuck lol
the game is fun as hell.
