Supposedly the cops said that if we go down S. Florissant the police said that they can't protect us. #Ferguson

Apparently the officers said there was someone with a rifle further than S. Florissant. #Ferguson
10:12pm - 29 Nov 14

Another person just said that the police told her to not let protestors go down by the train because they cannot protect us there. #Ferguson
10:21pm - 29 Nov 14

Also, hearing that the KKK is down by the train tracks with rifles. #Ferguson

Brown Sr.'s Church

Federal investigators are looking into an arson fire that burned the Missouri church where Michael Brown's father was baptized over the weekend.

"This is a slow and painstaking process," said John Ham, a spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is working with a local task force on the case.

Flood Christian Church was torched Monday night after the announcement that a grand jury had voted not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed teen Michael Brown Jr.

The church went up in flames around the same time about a dozen other buildings were set ablaze in Ferguson by protesters angered by the grand jury's decision, but it's on a remote section of West Florissant Avenue where other structures were unscathed.

"The police called me and told me the church was on fire," the Rev. Carlton Lee said. "I was in complete disbelief. I didn't think anyone would set a church on fire.

"I feel like one of my children has died. I put my blood, my sweat, my tears into this church, getting this church built from the ground up. To see that it was taken down in a few minutes is really heartbreaking."

He said he told Michael Brown Sr. about the extensive damage on Tuesday afternoon. "He was just devastated again," he said.

The pastor said he doubted the same people who were raging on the other end of West Florissant had burned his church. Instead, he said, he suspected white supremacists who wanted to punish him for his support of the Brown family, who had just been baptized there.

"Sunday, we do the baptism, Monday, the church is one fire. It just doesn't add up," he said.

He said Brown had pledged his help in repairing the damage.

"We rebuild," Lee said. "We do not stop."

For whatever reason, out of all the civilian injustices by cops to black males this year, Ferguson caught fire.

I wonder if the media will be at select colleges and universities...

Because the local community rallied around the issue.
I did not think it could be that simple, but as I contemplate, that really may have been/be the difference.

Good insight.
probably might be a bunch of ppl losing their jobs tomorrow if they participate..
If teachers, professors, and administrators become involved, possibly.

When it comes down to students, there shouldn't be much fear of that.

This type of shit won't help shit...not that I'm attaching it directing to the situation in ferguson, but now local Bosnia-American gonna feel a certain way.

Homicide 136: Teens Kill Zemir Begic with Hammers, Police Chief Meets with Protesters

via
Zemir Begic and his wife.
Zemir Begic's family thought they'd be safe in America after escaping war and bloodshed in Bosnia in 1996. So when he was found beaten to death by teenagers with hammers on a south St. Louis street this weekend, it came as a devastating shock.
"We came to America to get away from crime because we were getting killed," says Zemir's sister, Denisa Begic, 23. "We were refugees. Our families were getting killed, their houses got destroyed and bombed. We came to America to escape from this, and what happens? My brother gets murdered in America."

Early Sunday morning, police found Zemir unconscious with injuries to his head, abdomen, face and mouth in the 4200 block of Itaska Street, just a mile south of his home. St. Louis police said a group of teens first attacked his car and then turned their hammers on him when he got out.

The juveniles fled by foot after the attack. Police later took two of the youth into custody: a sixteen-year-old male and a fifteen-year-old male.

"I can't believe this happened to my brother," Denisa tells Daily RFT from South Dakota. "They took something away from us that is our blood. I just wish I could kiss him one last time."

St. Louis is home to the largest Bosnian community outside of Bosnia, and as word spread of Zemir's brutal death, dozens of Bosnians gathered at Gravois Avenue and Morganford Road, peacefully shutting down the intersection.

Jaime Lees
Protesters demonstrating against the death of Zemir Begic draw police to the intersection near Bevo Mill.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Sam Dotson told protesters that two suspects were in custody and police are searching for two more.
"There is no indication that the gentleman last night was targeted because he was Bosnian," Dotson told the crowd of more than 70 people. "There was no indication that he was targeted because of who he was or where he came from."
The gathering drew police in riot gear -- a not-uncommon site at St. Louis demonstrations after the fatal August 9 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson. Two people were taken into custody during the pop-up protest. (Editor's note: We'll update when we know more.)
Denisa describes her brother as a talented singer who would drop everything to help a friend or family member. When Denisa's car broke down, he drove out to help her fix it. When a relative needed money for groceries, he gave them what they needed.

"He was an amazing person," Denisa says. "He would give you the clothes off his back."

A family friend launched an online fundraiser to raise money for his funeral arrangements, raising more than $2,500 by Sunday evening.

Denisa says she last spoke to her brother on Thanksgiving and was looking forward to his 33rd birthday on December 7. Begic's brother and friends took to Twitter to share grief and anger over his killing:

The murder is at least the 136th St. Louis homicide this year, according to police statistics. There were a total of 120 homicides in St. Louis city in 2013.
Here's the full report from police:

Incident: Homicide
Location: 4200 block of Itaska

Date/Time: 11/30/14 @ 01:15

Victim: Zemir Begic, 32-year old white male of the 4300 block of Miami

Suspect #1: 16-year old black male

Suspect #2: 15-year old Hispanic male

Officers responded to the above location for the victim of an assault and upon arrival, located the victim unconscious with apparent injuries to his head, abdomen, face and mouth. He was conveyed to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Investigation revealed the victim was traveling in his vehicle when several juveniles approached his vehicle on foot and began damaging it. The victim exited his vehicle and the juveniles began yelling at the victim and striking him with hammers. After the assault, the juveniles fled the scene on foot. Two juvenile suspects were located and remanded to the custody of Juvenile authorities. The investigation is ongoing.

Ferguson mayor: No severance pay for Wilson

The white police officer who resigned almost four months after fatally shooting a black teen, setting off months of sometimes violent protests in Ferguson, Mo., was not asked to leave — but "it's best that we continue to move on as a community," Mayor James Knowles said Sunday.

Knowles said Darren Wilson, who was earning about $45,000 a year, was given no severance when he resigned Saturday, effective immediately.

Wilson, 28, had been on paid administrative leave since shooting Michael Brown, 18, following a brief confrontation on a Ferguson street Aug. 9.

A St. Louis County grand jury declined Nov. 24 to indict Wilson on any charges in Brown's death, sparking more protests.

Knowles said at a news conference Sunday that the city of 21,000 will take a series of steps aimed at increasing minority representation on its police force:

•Fund police academy scholarships. Recipients will be required to work on the Ferguson force for at least two years after graduation.

•Increase the stipend for officers living in the city to $300 per month, up from $100.

•Start a police explorer program in the schools to give students a chance to meet and interact with police officers in a friendly setting.

•Create a citizen review board, which will advise and review operations of the Ferguson Police Department. The board will be made up of citizens not involved in government currently.

All but a handful of the city's more than 50 police officers are white, though the city is predominantly black.

"We are committed to rebuilding the city and to once again become a thriving community for economic development and residential stability," Knowles said.

Wilson said threats directed at the department fueled concern that staying on the force might have "put the residents and police officers of the City of Ferguson at risk, which is a circumstance that I cannot allow."

"It is my hope that my resignation will allow the community to heal. I would like to thank all of my supporters and fellow officers throughout this process," Wilson said in his resignation letter.
