Superstore - have been dealing with them since the mid-2000s or so. There's a store close to work, one close to home & one en route when commuting. Have been able to maximize their points program at times to put towards free groceries, and they don't hassle you when you ad match or price match other stores' flyers, if need be.

Famous Foods - wish there was one closer to home. Lots of healthy bulk choices there & has an older school, smaller store feel - https://www.famousfoods.ca/departments-1

Costco - don't have a membership card, but have stopped in occasionally with family members when they do.

Thrifty Foods - like their selections, but you have to know your prices because they tend to be overpriced. Or they mark their stuff up and do "buy one, get one free" sales but their suggested retail mark-up on the 1st item doesn't lead to much savings. False advertising for minor savings. If they didn't pull that shit, would definitely shop there more often.

Safeway - used to deal with them growing up. Put the Airmiles points towards going to free movies back then.

LOL, Cali, especially northern Cali the Bay Area, and specifically Oakland has some funny ways regarding grocery stores. The grocery stores have very strong unions this way. What we call "big box stores" i.e., Kmart, Walmart, and Costco are not allowed to carry certain items, especially things like fresh produce. My local store is "Safeway", it's about 2 miles from the house. I have a store that is much closer but they never have enough checkers working, and it is too large, and too ghetto for my tastes!!! The Pandemic caused me to stock-up on a few things. While everybody else was buying all the toilet tissue of the shelves the rice, beans, and canned food aisles were full. I also picked up an additional freezer, so I'm at the store on average maybe once per week.

I tend to use Costco for my proteins.

Fish
Chicken thighs and wings
Beans in bulk sometimes
Their steaks are really good
Hamburger meat good
Bacon if you're into it

Just good to have frozen and pull out when needed. Cut down on trips.

The ex lives in Hayward. I didn't know Safeway out there didn't have produce. Interesting

No, Safeway and Lucky's still have the produce, the other places like Walmart & Kmart do have it or are not allowed to sell produce.

Mom's- it's like a local grocery store that sells the same shit as Whole Foods. Alot of foods are sourced from local farmers

Can't go to a regular grocery store. Shit makes me feel nauseated.

It may be time to step up to whole foods. At least for meats or luxury foods.

Canned foods are basically the same anywhere so I will still hit the slums of Walmart or whatever for those.

I cook almost every day.

Korean and Indian produce stands: Every 2-3 days for fresh cheap produce. Rotate between 3 of them. Indian spot always has the best cilantro. Korean has the best fruits and onions/garlic. And the 3rd spot has the "exotic" fruits.

Italian bakery: Every other week for fresh bread, pastries and cold cuts/cheeses.

Local supermarkets: Weekday supply runs. I rotate between two depending on what ingredients I need.

Costco: Monthly, stock up better quality meat, poultry and eggs than what's available in my neighborhood.

Walmart: Monthly, for cleaning supplies and the like. Their produce and meat sucks, it's like the tap water of food.

Yeah the store Mom's is where I get my meats from. All organic grass fed and from local farmers in the DMV area....

DC has like 5 Whole Food's and the one closes to me is ghetto as hell....Some kids ran up in there and started shooting..

I feel sorry for you negros that don’t have HEB’s. Every other grocery chain can suck a dick as far as I’m concerned.

What is so good about it? Let me check the website
They just got everything set-up right bruh. Coupons are already hanging up for you. They keep the shit stocked up right. Lines are quick and efficient. They got the best variety. Seafood and meat section stay on point. Beer wine section on point as well. I just never have to wonder where shit is or if they got it in stock. Plus they pay well so their employees seem to be happier and do they job well. Plus, in my book if the company treats their employees right. I saw a sign last week here in San Antonio that said groceries pickers starting salary $18hr. Tried to get my daughter get her first summer job there but she wanna be like Calvin working at McDonald’s and shit. When she come home I be like …

Defense Commissary Agency on any military base - best prices but only available to active & retired military, some reservist and national guard on orders and veterans.
Sprouts - very good produce selection and prices
Albertsons' - not near the cheapest but high quality meats and good produce selection
Walmart neighborhood stores - convenient due to proximity of my home
When traveling in RV Publix and Trader Joes is always an option

WALMART is the only grocery store I shop at, we have a Piggly Wiggly but it's way over priced compared to Walmart and a Save A Lot but it only sells off brand stuff and looks like they never clean up the place
