How Grocery Stores Are Adapting New Packaging To Prevent Shoplifting

Stores are taking matters into their own hands by creating more complex packaging for some of their items. According to The Independent, store owners have started to go as far as to add security tags to some of their common items, including cheese, as a way of deterring potential thieves. Inflation, which is at its highest point in decades, has likely only contributed to the reason shoplifting is on the rise.

Other methods are being implemented, too. CNBC reports that some stores have even started charging "crime spike fees" on regular transactions as a way of trying to make up for the losses. Other stores have opted for increased security as another deterrent. And the Wall Street Journal says that store owners have started encasing more products in lockable plastic cases, such as shampoo, shaving cream, and dish detergent.

I don't think so but it's right over by Brandsmart USA on the North side...Tucker or Lavista area. Damn I may go up there and see if it's still there. It's a Grocery store and Farmers market.

EDIT: I REMEMBER NOW...IT'S CALLED H-MART.

Anyone know of an Indian grocery store around Atlanta? Seen many Hispanic ones...maybe around Buford Highway.
North Dekalb area, over off of Scott Blvd & Dekalb Industrial Way. 78 going inside the perimeter.. I think its a Tesla store over there. Its some Indian spots and jewelry stores.

Publix. Less than a mile from my home. People complain it's more expensive than Walmart/Kroger, but the BOGOs even it out. Pro tip. Buy 1 and its half off in most of their stores. MUCH more well maintained compared to the Kroger closest to my home.

Kroger. Less than a mile from my job. I tend to buy more staples there and things I usually eat for lunch. Between this and Publix is where I usually go.

Lidl. Good prices on meat and seafood, also very good on snacks and spices. If Aldi is Wal-Mart, then Lidl is Target.

Asian supermarkets/Farmers Markets. Great Wall, Buford Highway Farmers market, Nam De Mun, H Mart.

Whole Foods. Snacks and prepared foods. Contrary to belief the staples there are the same price as everywhere else, and the Prime deals sometimes makes them win out, you just got to pay attention to their sales.

Last resort. Walmart. Hate the lines, produce doesn't last, they only stock what moves so little to no choice and a lot of the Great Value foods are inferior to Publix/Kroger/Lidl store brands.

Closest Lidl to me is Briarcliff road. Not sure I want to go through the traffic gauntlet for that. Maybe if I get there at opening time tomorrow.

Gonna definitely hit Fresh Market and Trader Joe's. Maybe Publix too. Do all my August shopping tomorrow if possible.

Meijer - I shop here the most Produce is generally ok and meats are generally ok.

Fresh Thyme - Second. Their guacamole and salsa with extra cilantro is really good. The only place I can find JUMBO free range eggs. They have a juicery for fresh squeezed orange juice, lemonade and other juices.

Sams club/Costco Cheapest place to get my hint water. Also paper products. I have to pay shipping for Poland springs water but since I can't find it locally its the best shipping price for it.

Giant eagle. Generally have good produce, OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG THE BANANA CAKEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I also get the meatloaf from there when I'm feeling lazy. Sale prices are good, regular prices not so much.

Walmart Best prices for frozen foods, but I haven't been shopping here since the pandemic started. The only place I can find the Jeanie-o Sundried tomato turkey breast.

Krogers I prefer their meats, but also haven't been shopping there much since the pandemic. They used to have really good produce, but now it's hit or miss. The one kroger has really good rye bread that is only carried at that one store. And Warner Eggs, which is a local farm. These are the eggs I preferred before I discovered the ones at Fresh Thyme.

Trader Joes I don't go much but this is where I get my liquid stevia.

The problem I have is that there is not one store that carries ALL that I buy. Some places don't have the spices I want or the cheese. Or certain frozen stuff. Or it's stuff made by the store like the guacamole and banana cake. I get items from Amazon also. Every blue moon whole foods. Minor stuff from Target.

1. Walmart. Generally lowest prices, convenience of offering most everything in one stop. Hate the lack of customer service, clientele, parking, panhandlers.

2. Publix. Fresh fish and steak, 8.99 for a 8 piece of mixed chicken, guilty pleasure of fresh banana pudding, selection of teas, sometimes good price on 2 for 1.

3. Costco. Bulk goods, get lowest gas there as well, little risk of crime, friendly staff, get in and out quickly if you go at opening or closing time.

4. Trader Joes: Only for certain items that are hard to find elsewhere. Good shopping experience. Parking is a nightmare. Too many CACs. Bad broads of all sorts tho.

5. Kroger. Generally worst shopping experience. Always being watched. Quality is average at best. They tried to hem me up over ADAM KNOWS's coupons.
Walmart is the worst. Makes me itch every time I go in there. Haven’t been in a Walmart in almost 3 years..

Publix is mad expensive and don’t have a lot of organic products. And the ones they have is way over price…

Kroger has a lot of organic products for good prices and they are always putting them on sale. But since Covid some Kroger be basically empty..

Costco has good selections for good prices

Whole Foods has the best meat selection

Sprouts has best organic produce

Trader Joe’s suck….

Today I hit Trader Joes-rice pilaf, different kinds of pasta sauces and dips

Walmart-Various items.

Publix-8 piece mixed Fried Chicken. Lady gave me an extra piece. Ya boy still got it  it pays to be nice to folk, especially when they're serving you food.

Sunbeam bread Store-a spot next to their factory where they sell their own brands at a discount if they make too much I guess.

Sourdough bread for 2.00...Priced at 4.17. I buy and freeze til I need a loaf.

Got enough to last through the month. I enjoy a sense of security knowing whatever life brings, me and my circle ain't gonna starve!

Bro you gotta get the Carolina Gold BBQ sauce from Trader Joe's that shit is bussing!!!

Stores:
Publix for seafood, deli meat, deli cheese and fruit
Wally World - for water, juice, oatmeal, condiments (lil shit like that)
Trader Joe's - Frozen veggies, eye candy, produce (chicken)

Somebody above said HEB is in the realm of Publix, bring from Houston, I'd have to agree... When I lived there I went to HEB, Kroger's, and Fiesta

Oh yes sir. Carolina Gold is one of the best things they offer.

I stopped buying their frozen foods cause I noticed they are made with the same ingredients they sell in store. Like the frozen pasta meals? I just get the sauces and make it myself with pasta and shrimp or whatever meat from Costco.

It's the sauces that make the meal! I stock up on them.

After the pandemic no excuses...I wish a girl would tell me she doesn't cook. Big red flag there unless her job really doesn't allow time for it.

Ok I need to look more into their sauces, I do prefer to make meals myself but that Orange Chicken they got in the frozen section is one I can't pass up and their waffle fries...
