:smh::smh::smh:

There were 2 MAJOR problems with all the update news that Rockstar released yesterday.

Problem #1 - The update announcement (as a whole) seemed like it was completely unintentional & was NOT something Rockstar had even PLANNED to do ‘on their own’, at this time. :hmm:

Mainly because the harsh reality is... THE TAKE-TWO STOCK PRICE HAD DROPPED ANOTHER 5% JUST 3 HOURS BEFORE ROCKSTAR ANNOUNCED ALL THESE NEW GAME UPDATES... when the stock was ‘DOWNGRADED’ on Wall Street (from 'Market Perform' to 'Underperform')... Specifically because the Financial Analysts literally said that Rockstar WAS NOT putting out enough new DLC content for RDR2. :smh:

So all these new update announcements & details were just "knee-jerk reactions" to the Parent Company losing a shitload of money. :hmm::rolleyes:

Because those Wall Street Analysts predicted that there was going to be a MASSIVELY RAPID DECLINE in sales revenue, in the near future, as more & more RDR2 Online players leave the game.

-------------------------------------------------------
Take-Two Stock Falls After Analyst Flags Risks for Red Dead Redemption 2
https://www.barrons.com/amp/articles/take-two-stock-downgrade-red-dead-redemption-2-51549984536

Take-Two Interactive Software Falls on Analyst Downgrade

Electronic Arts Upgraded, Take-Two Interactive Downgraded
https://www.fool.com/investing/2019/02/12/electronic-arts-upgraded-take-two-interactive-down.aspx
-------------------------------------------------------

So 2 hours later.... Rockstar HAD to announce SOMETHING... which is exactly ‘how & why’ all this update news even came out, in the first place. That’s NOT good. :smh:

Here's how it 'looks' from the outside....
  • Last week, the Take-Two Stock Price fell by roughly 14%, or so :dunno: (due to Market instability).
  • Yesterday morning, the Take-Two Stock gets Downgraded & the Stock Price falls another 5%.
  • Rockstar is specifically blamed for the 5% decline & Rating Downgrade... for not creating enough new DLC content for RDR2.
  • Within 2 or 3 hours later, Rockstar (who has barely dropped just 2 lackluster updates for RDR2 Online since Thanksgiving)... suddenly drops a TON of news, Tweets & Press Releases about upcoming updates.
  • Rockstar also PROMISES to have more specific info about the first DLC next week.
  • At the same time, Rockstar adds a "Double XP Bonus" to the Beta... IN LESS THAN A SINGLE DAY. :hmm:
    2rgj9qq.jpg
  • Which only confirms there are probably LOTS of other things that the RDR2 community has been BEGGING FOR (like Double XP Weekends, Double Cash Weekends, minor bug fixes and/or certain types of 'quality of life' improvements) that Rockstar could have been adding to the Beta all along... that DOES NOT take several months (or several weeks) to implement. :hmm:

Problem #2 - The 2nd major problem is... this is NOT THE TYPE OF DLC CONTENT that those Wall Street Analysts SAID Rockstar NEEDED to put out. These are just ‘quality of life’ updates. Which means all they did was reconfigure some existing code & write a few Tweets about it. :smh:

In the corporate world, this is what is called ‘trying to put out a fire’.

Whenever the Stock Price falls... it lights a FIRE under the CEOs ass... and in turn, the CEO proceeds to light a BONFIRE under ALL THE ASSES of all the Developers, who are sitting at their desks, writing code & creating 3D models.

So yesterday, Rockstar's ‘bad habits’ caught up to them.

Ever since RDR2 dropped back in October, it’s been pretty clear that Rockstar’s TOP priority was devoting their resources toward continuously updating GTA5 Online & dropping DLCs and adding ‘new content’ to a 6-year old game... while completely ignoring their newest game.... and Wall Street finally noticed and lowered their stock price because of it ... and now Rockstar is DESPERATELY trying to play catch-up. When they shouldn’t have to.

And if anyone reading this doubts that any of this is TRUE... keep in mind, the CEO of Take-Two just had a conference call LAST WEEK.

And he told everyone how they broke all kinds of sales records... and how they made all kinds of money.... but the Stock Price FELL anyway in just 3-4 business days. Not even a whole week passed before the stock price fell... AFTER all the 'good news' they reported. (Last week, the Take-Two stock price fell because the whole market declined, but the markets rebounded by the weekend, so yesterday’s drop had nothing to do with what happened last week.)

When companies tell you ‘how good’ they are doing... their stock price usually GOES UP because everyone wants to ‘make money’ & buys their stock. Their stock doesn’t go down just a few short days after BREAKING (historic) sales records. :dunno:

However, all of these updates they just announced are things that only take about 1-2 weeks :dunno:, so don’t be surprised if their stock price drops again in March.

Simply put, Rockstar needs to announce A REAL DLC. Not just a ‘game update’ that should have been done a whole month ago. Because the Wall Street Analysts did not say ‘all the griefing is hurting the game’... they pretty much said ‘lack of new DLC content to spend money on, will devastate the future sales of the game & the microstransactions’.

So while these newly announced updates are a good (but late) start... it does not solve the underlying problem, which is NEEDING new DLC content.

Rockstar’s lackadaisical approach to RDR2 Online has now reached the point where they cannot AFFORD to ‘be vague’ anymore about WHEN exactly the DLCs will come out. The more vague they are... the more the Take-Two stock price will drop/fluctuate in the coming weeks.

If they are smart, it's guaranteed that Rockstar will announce a SPECIFIC DATE for the 1st DLC, sometime next week. No more vague timelines. :hmm:

Too bad their whole Stock Price had to drop overnight (literally) in order for them to "put more effort" into making some quicker updates & giving some 'real clarity' about the details of any upcoming DLCs. :smh:

But now the big (unanswered) question is... is all this “too little, too late”? :dunno:

Time will tell.

February 20, 2019 >> Take Two Interactive Stock Price just fell by another 5% today. :smh:
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/ttwo/history/

Opened at $93.27
Currently down to $88.50 .............................. and falling.
Sidenote: just 3 weeks ago (on Feb 4) the Take Two stock price was $109.00.
Let that marinate.

So, look for Rockstar to finally release ALL that info.... about any DLCs & the game update on Feb 26, that they PROMISED last week.

- Monday was a Holiday.
- Tuesday they were still silent.
- So on Wednesday... the Stock Price takes another hit. :smh:

Scramble Mode... Engaged. (check)

New details coming in 5, 4, 3, 2....

Right on time. :smh: I knew this would happen as soon as I noticed the Stock Price had slipped again. :hmm:

Just like last week's announcement... Rockstar scrambles to post this info because the Take Two stock dropped by 5% since 10 am this morning... with no signs of improving / rallying before the market closed. Predictable. (But not in a good way. :smh:)

For the past week, seems there have been SEVERAL (game breaking) problems that have been plaguing RDR2 gamers, who play on Xbox1...
  • Random NPCs are not spawning.
  • Towns are completely desolate.
  • No random townsfolk. Anywhere.
  • No hunting. No random animals. Anywhere.
  • Fishing might work. Sometimes.
  • No working NPC ‘stranger’ side missions.
  • And you probably cannot summon your horse.
  • Or maybe you are unable to even create a new (female) character.
  • The only ‘online modes’ that seem to work are the PVP Showdown Matches.
However, Rockstar has been silent about all these bugs, despite the massive outcry from the Xbox community, on sites like Reddit. :smh:

Here’s a workaround for Xbox1 players who have not been able to join any ‘working servers’...

Hope this helps when the new game update drops on Tuesday..... if you are still playing on Xbox. :dunno:

(On a Sidenote: If Rockstar remains silent about even addressing these bugs & the upcoming game update on Tuesday, Feb. 26 DOES NOT fix these game breaking issues on the Xbox platform.... I predict yet another BIG drop in the Take Two Stock Price within the next 2 weeks. Maybe sooner. Just my opinion)

RED DEAD ONLINE BETA UPDATE OUT NOW

Today, the Red Dead Online Beta gets its first big batch of updates including new gameplay, weapons and clothing, additional balancing and a slew of community-requested improvements thanks to responses to our player feedback page. The update is live in-game now - see below for details.

97c4a6ee9936e261f6deec3e4133c341d6b1f0b4.png

Earn Gold Nuggets and XP for completing Daily Challenges, a new series of wide-ranging objectives covering everything from skinning animals to finding treasure, winning feuds and more. Pull up the Player Menu to see your 7 Daily Challenges that will rotate each day, each challenge earns Gold Nuggets and XP and completing all 7 earns you a bonus.

Starting next week, compete with rival teams and Posses in the new Free Roam Event Fool’s Gold, where players fight to wear a protective suit of Golden Armor. Take down the current wearer to earn the armor and points, then turn the tables and rack up kills against the opposition.

And looking ahead, new game modes will arrive in the Red Dead Online Beta each week. Put your highwayman skills to the test with Target Races as you race other players on horseback to take down targets with speed and accuracy. Proficiency with a bow and arrow will give you an edge, take advantage of weapon and horse stamina pickups where you can, use your limited bullets wisely to remove targets or attack your competition.

Take on friends and rivals in new Fishing Challenges. Opt in to a challenge to receive the appropriate equipment and bait, head to the water’s edge and start reeling in the big ones. For added ease, use Eagle Eye to pick a spot full of fish. Remember, you’re trying to catch the highest total weight of fish to win – which could be achieved by hooking several smaller fish or angling for one large catch - so keep everything you reel in.

Also coming soon: three new Showdown Modes where players and teams compete to capture and deliver bags, steal loot from each other and survive. Stay tuned for more details around Up in Smoke, Spoils of War and Plunder. With the addition of these new modes also comes the Featured Series blip - visit the Featured Series sign post or select the option from the Quick Join menu to play the latest modes.

The Rare Shotgun is a beautifully engraved, faded brass version of the powerful, double-barreled longarm and is available today. Coming soon, be sure to get your hands on the Evans Repeater - a high grade, high capacity rifle that is devastating at medium and long range. Both weapons will be available via the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue and from local Gunsmiths.

Treat yourself to a range of new Outfits, Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats, Vests and more. In addition to all the clothing that will be available for purchase at your leisure, keep an eye on the shops and the Catalogue for Limited Time items that will come and go each week.

Express yourself with a new set of emotes including new reactions, greets and taunts. Like all Emotes, you can tap once for the standard emote and double tap for a more exaggerated expression. You can find new Emotes in the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue then add them to your Emote Wheel through the Emote Wheel Management menu.

Updated Player Radar and Visibility: We’ve reduced the visibility of players blips over longer distances, so now your location won’t display to other players unless you are nearby – minimizing the likelihood of being targeted across the map by more aggressive competitors. This includes limiting voice chat to near proximity rather than players from across the map. Overly aggressive players will be highlighted from the map with a progressively darkening dot. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (including your Posse members) will become darker and visible from further away.

Easier Parley and Feuds: Turn quarrels with other players into timed mini-deathmatches with easier to trigger Feuds, which can be initiated against a rival and their Posse after one kill. Alternately, instigate a temporary truce quicker after one kill with similar updates to the Parley system.

Enhanced Law and Bounty System: If you stir up enough trouble to earn a high bounty, you’ll increase the chance that a cadre of NPC Bounty Hunters will be out to get you. The higher the bounty gets, the more persistent your pursuers will become… so watch out!

Please keep the feedback coming as these new features arrive each week. In addition to new content, stay tuned for new weekly bonuses such as this week’s care package to help you tackle Daily Challenges and your other ongoing adventures across the five states. Head into the Red Dead Online Beta any time before Tuesday March 5th to receive a complimentary delivery of goods at your Camp’s Lockbox or at the Post Office consisting of:

  • 2x Potent Snake Oil
  • 2x Potent Bitters
  • 2x Potent Miracle Tonic
  • 2x Horse Reviver
  • 2x Potent Horse Stimulant
  • 8x Poison Arrows
  • 10x Explosive Slug

Starting today, PlayStation 4 players will have early access to the Jawbone Knife, a unique melee weapon with a handle artfully carved from the remains of a slain animal’s jaw, as well as a range of new clothing options and three new emotes. In the coming weeks, PlayStation 4 players will get the Special Series that launches them directly into the latest early access mode starting with Open Target Races where you compete in an open space to take out the most targets on horseback.

Stay tuned each week for new content, bonuses, limited time clothing and more coming in and out of the Red Dead Online Beta and keep an eye out for more updates as we continue improving and growing the world of Red Dead Online.

Can someone help me understand the point of free roam? Because all I do is look for online opponents to murk. I have only completed two missions with other players. The challenges are kinda fun, but when you respawn, most if the time you are in someone's line of fire.
I know I mostly suck, I'm just trying to figure out if I'm missing something.

Assist.

Simply put, the whole purpose of the multiplayer RDR2 Beta is to provide various ways to play the game with other people... in order to earn Money + XP... (while completing various Challenges)... in order to level-up, so you can unlock/purchase high-level items, new weapons, custom outfits and different 'ability card' upgrades.

b5DNP8HAvJaVQHZcyWzJBE-650-80.jpg

Free Roam mode provides the ability for you to (freely) travel across the entire map to hunt 200 different species of animals, birds and fish... and find 'Strangers' (who give you random side-missions & tasks to accomplish)... and clear out Gang Hideouts... and get randomly ambushed by dangerous predators... and compete in PVP Races.... and tackle spontaneous "Free Roam Challenges" that will pop-up on your screen sporadically... in order to earn Money + XP... in order to level-up, so you can unlock/purchase high-level items, new weapons, custom outfits and different 'ability card' upgrades.

Showdown Series are several different types of PVP Deathmatches... in order to earn Money + XP.

Story Missions are a (multi-part) series of missions (that require between 2-4 players)... which tell a tale about "The Land of Opportunities" that you are 'Freely Roaming' across... However, some of the storylines will change as your "honor" changes during the larger journey to seek Truth, Justice and/or Revenge.......... (you guessed it)............. in order to earn Money + XP. :D

All these things can be done alone, or in a group.
The choice is up to you.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it puts things into perspective, thanks.
I've been doing all of these things, but I still don't feel like online ties anything together. And I like hunting and fishing, but you can't do it in peace because somebody is gonna ride by and take you out, or even worse, hunt you down.
All good tho. I enjoy online, but nowhere as much as the story mode.

Agreed. Looking back, I personally think that the Online Beta was rushed. The regular (single player) game had 105 missions. But the Online Beta only had 10 missions at the very start.

Rockstar made a bad decision (as far as the Online mode goes). During the 8 years of development... they simply should have reduced the number of single player missions down to about 90, or so. And moved 15 of those missions into the ‘multiplayer’ Beta side of the game, so that it started off with at least 25-30 multiplayer missions.

With 25-30 multiplayer missions right from jump... it could have easily begun to TIE our character’s storyline... to Arthur’s whole storyline.... while keeping us engaged & wanting more, in future DLCs. Plus, it would have kept everyone busy... doing exactly what they like doing the most, for at least the first 3-5 months, until new DLCs started dropping.

That would have provided a MUCH MORE ‘cohesive’ story / gameplay to BOTH the single player & multiplayer modes.... which is exactly what you are talking about.

Just my opinion.

Yooo..... there’s sooo many problems with this update. o_O

I mean... there’s some GOOD Stuff too. For Example >> I like the new clothing.

But the BAD stuff severely outweighs ALL the positives. :smh:

They NERFED the prices for all animals carcasses & skins that you bring to the butcher.... they literally cut that shit in HALF.... while RAISING the price of all the new clothing, new items & new weapons they just introduced, at the same time. :hmm:

I think this singular, “excessively greedy” move ALONE is gonna kill (what’s left of) this game. :smh:

And that’s BEFORE you even discover the laundry list of ‘new bugs’ that today’s update introduced.

Nerfing the money made from hunting literally FORCES folks to start griefing.... in order to make any decent money.

Rockstar took a half-step forward... and 2 big leaps backward, with this update. This is certainly NOT what most people wanted, nor expected.

:itsawrap:

Jumped on and bought some new clothes, same old disconnect bugs and the bounty system is dumb. Some level 60+ scrub camping the general store capped me while I was headed in to buy some new boots. I came back for him and got hit with a 50¢ bounty. I think I'm off this goofy ass game for awhile.

Story mode was too long for me to play again. I thought about it, but nah.
I'm playing through again, and I'm having a completely different experience than I had the first time, noticing all kinds of shit I missed the first go round. I got weapons I never knew existed, my style is totally different.

Thanks for sharing.

If these are the "Most Requested" features posted on Reddit... it is safe to say they are probably the "Most Requested" features on Rockstar's Forum's and their Feedback Site ALSO.

Which is very telling when you look at the Updates that actually were released since November. :smh:

- The Gold Store (released 1 week after launch)
- Gun Rush (released 1.5 months after launch)
- Update 1.06 which didn't even include all the stuff they had said it would (released 3 months after launch)

NONE of the updates that have been released so far include ANYTHING seen in the list of Top 5 requests. :smh: And nothing that Rockstar has officially announced matches anything on that list. :hmm: That's terrible.

These 3 videos below provide an excellent analysis/summary of what went wrong & what needs to happen next to fix it...

First, Rockstar has to just 'get around' to even PUBLICLY ADDRESSING the requests from their community >> Like these Top 5 Reddit requests, for starters.

They Publicly 'Ask for Feedback'.... and 'Thank Gamers for Providing Feedback'..... but that's about it. And THAT's the problem. Because they give ZERO indication whether ANY of the 'feedback' will ever be implemented into the game. :dunno: Either why? Or why not? :dunno:

So, whenever Rockstar decides to ever just 'talk about' these suggestions from their community.... They have to 'commit' to adding them to the game, at some point.

Then after they actually DO 'commit' to adding these things... INSTEAD of whatever they had planned to add to the game on their own... they have to provide a RELEASE DATE.

Then after they provide a Release Date for adding this stuff.... RDR2 gamers who are still left by that date will have to be prepared that Rockstar might not actually DELIVER all the updates on the day they say they will. :smh: Instead, the updates will be "drip fed" into the game over the course of a several weeks / months.

So, the future of RDR2 Online doesn't look good. :smh: At all.
