Wolf isn't even into the single player game. We can chalk Wolf up to MIA for Red Dead. He ain't fucking with this no way no how. Online is ass but I think the game can be salvaged. GTA 5 loss some of its player base waiting so long to add heists. Rockstar just needs to get out of this beta stage shit and drop a online sizzle trailer then word of mouth and the community will give it another chance.
The biggest difference between red dead and gta is the era

There is potential once the put the full online experience up....but as of now from what I have played and seen...the beta is pretty much dead

I only play online.... sporadically... nowadays.

Rockstar has only released (1) "Gun Rush" mode since Thanksgiving. :hmm:

I tried it just once. (There was only like 5 or 6 people in there.) Meh, wasn't feeling it. :smh:

Went right back to hunting/fishing & replaying the 8 story missions.

By the time Rockstar gets around to releasing any significant amount of DLC updates... pretty sure this game will be a distant memory.

Did you not play the single player?
I did, but it just seem I was wondering around aimlessly. Then I had a bounty on me for an insane amount of money. The last thing I did was try to get preacher off the train tracks. It seems like it takes forever to go from town to town.

I still play it and it's pretty decent. It is one of the most beautiful games visually, but I think Rockstar fucked up on the financial factor.

It's 1906 (or so, I don't remember), but there should be very little that cost $300 in that day. You loot people and they have $0.11 on them if that, and they want $400+ for some guns.

GTFOH

I'm doing the fishing glitch trying to get some money, but I am glad that I only paid $60 for this game and not the $100 version like some people did. It's worth 60, it's not worth the extra 40

Yeah, I agree.

Looting dead bodies... and only getting like $0.8 cents. or $0.35 cents is ridiculous. :smh:

Rockstar intentionally made it like that... thinking it would make everyone 'buy gold'.
But I have a strong feeling it will backfire badly on them.

One time I ran the Kerosene & Tar Factory mission.... and that shit only paid me $2.11 at the very END. :hmm:
I literally made MORE money 'looting bodies' in the factory & collecting chump change... than what completing the 'whole mission' paid. :hmm:

That was when I said "Fuck it. I'm done." :smh: (...then started looking online for the upcoming 2019 release schedule for new games, so I could figure out what's gonna be the next big thing on the PS4.)

The reality is... RDR2 is a helluva "single player" game that took almost a full decade to make.... but had a shitty multiplayer Beta thrown-in all haphazardly..... most likely during the last 30 days of development.

It is what it is. :dunno:

I never finished the single player. I was running around the month before the online dropped finding dinosaur bones and shit like that. Now that I've been playing the online beta I'm largely disappointed. It's so hard to get money, if it weren't for the fishing carcass glitch I probably would have dumped the game a month ago

Red Dead Online Beta Update

Gold Bonus

Thank you to dedicated Red Dead Online Beta players worldwide for your continuing feedback as we work together to refine the game experience. As a token of our gratitude for your support and understanding throughout this Beta period, we are rewarding this weekend’s active players with a bonus of 5 Gold Bars. Play the Red Dead Online Beta between today Friday January 25 and Sunday January 27 to qualify for the bonus, which will be delivered to your account by Tuesday January 29.

Gun Rush Feedback & Matchmaking Improvements

Following the launch of the new Gun Rush mode, we identified a few matchmaking issues, some of which we have addressed with short-term improvements and all of which we are working towards more permanent and proper fixes for in the longer term. The minor improvements should help generate fuller lobbies and we will add more fixes in upcoming title updates. Gun Rush is best experienced with as many competitors as possible, so if you had any issues with smaller lobbies around release, we strongly encourage you to give it another go this weekend as we are already regularly seeing much fuller matches on both PS4 and Xbox One.

For those who haven’t tried it yet, Gun Rush is a tooth and nail, Western style battle-royale fight to the death for up to 32 players that can be played either with Teams or as a Free For All. Players compete in an ever-shrinking battle zone with horses for quick transport (and associated risks). Skirmish for weapons ranging from Mauser Pistols to Repeating Shotguns to Fire Bottles and Dynamite Arrows – as well as for valuable, hard to obtain armor like the headshot-thwarting Ned Kelly Armor to help you survive to the end.

We also updated our official Feedback page to now include dedicated sections for Gun Rush. We of course want to know what you like, don’t like, suggestions for improvements and changes to this and other modes and types of gameplay – so please do keep it coming!

More to Come

Our teams are currently working on lots of fixes, changes and improvements to the game based on player feedback including the quality of life improvements that we detailed in our last status update: Proximity-Based Player Blips, Parley Changes with quicker access to Feuding, Law and Bounty Improvements to discourage griefing while introducing a new Freeroam dynamic between bounty hunters and criminal rogues, plus Daily Challenges with gold nugget rewards and more. We are currently planning to have these and other improvements to the game included in a Title Update scheduled for release in the coming months – we’ll provide more information as we get closer to the date.

^^ Thanks for the update.

Unfortunately, The Translation Means...
- Rockstar is about to drop another MAJOR update for GTA5 very soon. :smh:
- So they are giving away Free gold bars to keep the RDR2 gamers quiet.
- Hoping they won't notice that GTA5 is STILL getting (2x) twice as many updates as RDR2 does, ever since Thanksgiving. :smh:

Rockstar is fucking up badly with this game. :smh:

They went from originally promising these updates will happen early in 2019.... to now saying these updates are "scheduled for release in the coming months". :smh: (Not weeks, but monthS = with a capital "S" = as in plural = as in MORE than 1 month = as in, this is already the end of January, so that means months with a capital "S"... really means sometime in March, or probably later. Not even in February. :smh: Because if it was happening in February, they would have said sometime "next month"... not "months". :smh:)

nobody cares anymore

I can see games like Tom Clancy's: The Division 2 and/or Anthem erasing the remaining playerbase of RDR2 Online... before Rockstar even gets their 'updates' out the door.... in the coming monthS.

The Division 2 Beta starts on Feb. 7th. The mass exodus begins in 2 weeks.

I said it from the beginning...

They shouldn't have released online for this game until it was 100% ready.
Beta test it for 2 weeks max then full online experience.

They could have released single player content, maybe focused on the Indians that Charles was helping, went back to Haiti to see what's up there, or had some shit with Sadie and her bounty Hunter adventures... Had her travel to Mexico with Javier... She could have even moved to Canada with Charles got married, changed her last name to PHILLIPS, then tie in GTA and RDR with the Trevor Phillips link... She definitely crazy like his ass

Online could have been a scaled back GTA online experience...

You can still move drugs, I'm sure that shit was around back then... The town that had the Cholera outbreak, maybe some shady mufucca go in there, takeover, and you steal supplies from other towns to build up that town... Heists could have been there... Taking out the murphree brood or capturing one of the night folk alive for that traveling circus... Horse stealing, oil tanker stealing, train robbing...
They had everything laid the fuck out, what work and don't work with gta... Just make that shit 1899 comparable and you're ready to go

^^ Agree with ALL of this.

There was absolutely NO NEED for Rockstar to release this (unfinished) game when they did. :smh:
They worked on it for 8 years.... so just 8 more months would not have made much difference at all, imo.

Speaking of Drugs & Cholera Outbreaks... and Taking over Towns... and the Night Folk.... Rockstar could combine your concepts into several (online) main missions that are composed of multiple parts. Here's a few ideas...
  • Rockstar should add Blowguns/Blowdarts as a new weapon.
  • Normally, Blowdarts will slow down your reflexes and/or make your screen SWERVE dramatically as if you are VERY drunk.
  • Which makes it difficult to 'return fire'... or aim properly... or even throw a Punch, or Block... and Dead Eye is totally unreliable.
  • But if you pick certain plants, you can craft different types of darts. (Like Poison Darts. Plague Darts. Healing Darts. Knockout Darts, Etc.)
  • Getting hit with a Poison Dart will eventually kill you (or a horse) after about 30 seconds.
  • But you can Rescue a Teammate (or a horse) if you hit them with a Healing Dart before they die.
If you are Dishonorable...
  • You can form an Outlaw Posse. And kill any Sheriff Patrols who try to stop you.
  • And use the Blowguns to INFECT citizens of various towns with the Cholera / or Plague, to start an Epidemic.
  • This will allow you to hold/capture a Town for a certain amount of time, while staying alive.
  • Perhaps this Cholera / or Plague eventually transforms the citizens into Night Folk, after a certain amount of time.
  • Once transformed into Night Folk, they cannot be cured... and they may eventually become full-fledged Zombies after that.
  • This is sorta like the Undead Nightmare / Zombie DLC of the original Red Dead 1.
  • You get XP/Badges/Belt Buckles for the number of Citizens you infect with the Plague.
If you are Honorable...
  • You can form a Sheriff Patrol. And kill any Outlaw Posses who try to stop you.
  • And use the Blowguns to CURE the citizens of various towns of the Cholera / or Plague, to stop an Epidemic.
  • This will allow you to decontaminate a Town after a certain amount of time, while staying alive.
  • Cure as many citizens as you can of this Cholera / or Plague before they transform into Night Folk.
  • Once transformed into Night Folk, they cannot be cured... and they may eventually become full-fledged Zombies.
  • You get XP/Badges/Belt Buckles for the number of Citizens you cure from the Plague.
  • If they become full-fledged Zombies... it just leads into a different mission... with different Objectives.
Rockstar can go in a lot of different directions with this concept alone, imo.
They could even add it to the Death Matches, or use it for certain parts of various missions.

For Example: They could put a spin on that Twin Rocks mission.... where you have to rescue the Wealthy Man's Wife who has been kidnapped. Maybe instead of just bringing her back to the husband... you infect her with a Plague Dart right before you take her back... so you can get paid, but still screw the husband over in the long run, after his wife turns into a Zombie in about a day, or so. :D:rolleyes:

Or they could make a mission where you have to invade / kill an area chock full of Night Folks & Zombies.... in order to find/cure one person with a Blowdart... and bring them to safety.... while Outlaws try to re-infect them again & bring them back to another area chock full of Night Folks & Zombies. Or whatever.

This could open up all kinds of "Doctor Missions".... since there are none in the game, right now... plus it would make picking various plants more important than it is right now. Because the Doctors would require all kinds of different plants/herbs... to make different types of Blowdarts that do different things.

Plus adding a Blowgun could totally change Hunting gameplay also. Because maybe you use certain Blowdarts to knockout certain (large or small) animals for a certain amount of time... so that you can strap them to your horse.... and bring them back ALIVE (but unconscious) to a Doctor, or to a Fence, or to a Butcher, or to a Stranger, or to a Trapper, or to an Indian Shaman, or to a Mountain Mystic, or to a Cave Warlock, or to a Town Scientist, or to a Swamp Voodoo/Witch Doctor, or to whoever :dunno:... before it wakes up.

If so, they would tell you to do stuff like: "Bring me 1 LIVE (Deer)... and 2 LIVE (Birds)... and 3 perfect (Alligator) skins... and 1 (Cougar) fang... and 5 (Wild Mint) herbs." >> But in order to craft enough Knockout Darts... first you need to find a bunch of x,y,z plants.

Knockout Darts could last about 8-12 hours/ or half a Day... and if the animals 'wake up' before you deliver them... they quickly 'break free' off your horse... and just fly/run/scamper away.

It could be a Blowgun that fires Blowdarts, or a ZipGun that fires Special Darts, or a small 1-handed Crossbow that fires both Lethal & Non-Lethal Bolts. :dunno:

You get the idea.

Just saying.

Just looked up how much GTA 5 has made and its made 6 billion in revenue the did 90 million units sold. They've probably made their money back from Red Dead 2 by now or will in 2019. GTA 5 is a financial juggernaut that's they really have no incentive to work on online for RDR2.

True, they already made their money back from RDR2 in the first week alone.
Red Dead 2 made more money in its first 8 DAYS of sales... than Red Dead 1 ever made in all 8 YEARS of sales.
  • Red Dead 1 sold roughly 15 million units, since 2010.
  • Red Dead 2 sold roughly 17 million units in its first week and about 23 million units overall. (as of last week, Feb 5.)
But the thing is... yes, GTA 5 has made $6 Billion in 6 years... but keep in mind that it has taken them 20 years to reach this level, ever since GTA 1 dropped back in 1997.

Meanwhile, Fortnite has made almost $5 Billion.... in just 2 years.

Despite the success of GTA5 & RDR2.... Rockstar is kinda shook. :dunno:

After 3 months... notice how they cannot seem to drop any 'timely updates' for RDR2 Online..... but they were DEFINITELY IN A HURRY to put that 'Gun Rush' mode into the game, to copy Fortnite's Battle Royal mode success.

I finished story mode last week and enjoyed the game. I started playing online a few days later. If and when there is a BGOL posse, please send me an invite. PSN = fourthstbully. Thanks.

There's really no posse like in GTA. Whatever crew members you have on your friends list you're have to invite them and form a posse. It may be best to invite some randoms.

Red Dead Online Beta Update On February 27

The next set of updates and new features is set to be added to the Red Dead Online Beta on February 26th as we implement many new improvements and enhancements to the game’s open world, including a new Law and Bounty system, weapons balancing, changes to player blips on the mini-map and more. Read on for details about these changes and stay tuned next week to learn more about some of the other new content coming in this update.

Player Visibility
As part of our response to community feedback on how to minimize certain types of destructive player behavior, we’ve made some changes to the way player blips will appear on the map.

Firstly, we’re reducing the visibility of blips over long distances – your map position won’t display to other players unless you are nearby (within 150 meters) and if you are slightly further away you will only appear when firing your weapon. Players in other towns or regions, for example, won’t be visible. This prevents players from being repeatedly targeted across the map at long distances.

We’re also introducing a new system that highlights overly aggressive players. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (and the position of your Posse members) will become more visible to other players with a progressively darkening dot that incrementally shifts from blue to dark red. Your visibility increases through bad deeds such as attacking and killing other players or their horses outside of a structured mode, Free Roam Mission, event or competition, and the shorter the time between bad acts, the more your visibility increases. Shift back to a more righteous path and your visibility will fade over time.

We’re also introducing Posse-wide Parleys and improving Feuds. You’ll soon be able to initiate Parley that applies to your attacker’s entire Posse after just a single kill. Alternatively, if you’d rather challenge your opponent, you can initiate a Feud, Posse Feud or Leader Feud after one kill, quickly turning a dispute into a timed mini-deathmatch for rival players to fight out amongst themselves in Free Roam, earning points for each kill on the opposing player.

Bounty Hunters & Law Balancing
At the same time, players who have racked up high bounties will have a chance to be beset by NPC Bounty Hunters who will attempt to kill them and collect their reward.

Criminal behavior will have bounty values and honor consequences that scale based on the severity of the crime. For example, killing another player can incur a higher bounty, while assaulting townsfolk or animal cruelty could give you a lesser bounty if the crime is reported, while lower level crimes like looting and ransacking will only decrease your honor.

If your bounty exceeds a certain threshold and Bounty Hunters take notice, you will be wanted dead and alerted to their pursuit. The higher your bounty, the greater your value and the more difficult the pursuit becomes for you and your Posse.

Daily Challenges
We will also be adding a variety of Daily Challenges to take on across the Red Dead Online Beta. Complete individual objectives that cover every aspect of life on the frontier to earn Gold Nuggets and XP. Challenges will range from foraging for herbs, selling items at a Fence, hunting and skinning animals, clearing hideouts, winning Feuds and so much more. These Daily Challenges will continue to expand and evolve over time bringing specialty challenges and rewards, streak bonuses and more.

Other Fixes and More
Your feedback has been invaluable so please keep it coming. In addition to these updates we are planning to address several additional changes based on community feedback received thus far - select weapons will be re-balanced including the Varmint Rifle, which will have its accuracy brought more in line with other longarm weapons; voice chat will be reduced to work at closer proximity, and while fixes to horse cargo are numerous and ongoing we plan to introduce some improvements to making pelts and carcasses more persistent after death or respawning.

We will have more details on additional content in the February 26th update next week. We are excited about the future of Red Dead Online and look forward to sharing lots more in the weeks and months ahead.

Meanwhile, there are chances to earn more XP to rank up ahead of February 26th. Playing in a Posse will bring benefits like earning increased XP in Free Roam Missions and Free Roam Events. Posse up this week to earn twice as much increased XP on these activities, and next week earn 20% more XP across all activities in the Red Dead Online Beta.
