I don't know if anybody watched the UK version of the show which is also very good but in my opinion the US version far exceeds the original. The thing I love about the US version is that there is a sense of a real struggle with each family members. Whereas the UK is more sitcom like so you always feel like the issue is somewhat resolved by the end of the episode. In the UK version Fiona and Steve are married, move out the house and never comes back, Lip goes to school and does well and never comes back, Frank is a drunk but he loves his family, Carl is less of a bone head, Debbie is more sensible and mature, Ian is not bipolar..but still gay, Monica is more confused about life and her sexuality then she is crazy but loves her family. Liam is pretty much the same expect he's white. And Kevin and Veronica end up in jail and leaves the show after the 2nd season.
