Yeah, POTUS and the Vice get all the bells and whistles with protection. They get the super protected limo unlike former presidents getting a standard bulletproof limo.
Former POTUS get limited protection. But technically they supposed to be secured where nobody is supposed to be able to get close to them.
Obama was getting record threats during and after leaving office and nobody has gotten near him that we know of.

I'm almost positive that the main obstacle to protecting Trump is Trump himself. They already said that he was advised against having so many outdoor rallies because they were harder to secure. It wouldn't shock me to discover that they also had issues with securing him on a golf course, too.
Not that anyone should be assaulted in any way, but it really underscores just how much general security relies on the overall goodwill of the average person.
The irony is that the takeaway for a lot of the public won't be "he should be less of a douche to be less of a target." His base will double down on supporting him, because "there must be some reason they want him out of the way".

They have virtually eliminated all of the influencers that he used to have such as Alex Jones, Tom Brady, Kanye West, Brett Favre yet he is still performing well in the polls.
Influencers are starting to get better protection from the government making it harder to get to them.
The only option left is to take him out.
I have stayed out of the election business this year because it is not worth it. They don't pay you enough money to deal with the hassle.

Not only did he get away from the scene, he was able to get into his car.....AND drive nearly 40 miles,...... but a witness ultimately tipped off police....... a random ass witness cracked the case?!!

I have been complaining about other countries, putting Americans on kill list without the government doing nothing about it or sanctioning them. You might endorse products against the interest/trade policy of another country and the next thing you know you have HIV/AIDS.
It is bad enough to deal with reprisals from your own country due to your position on certain issues, but to deal with foreign intelligence services trying to shut you down is another thing.
