Everybody I know who moved to Texas regret it. One the weather is horrible. Two Property Taxes there make up for no state tax so people get killed on that shit not knowing how high y’all’s property tax is. To me there’s more to life than living in a big sprawling house in a cheaper state.
depends on the neighborhood you move into.
My realtor kept stressing the importance of property taxes, to make me aware of their impact
so you are not wrong
and the weather down here does suck

No it doesn’t bruh.
Cali property tax is 0.73%
Average median home price in CA 2022=$834000 $6088 in taxes
Average Salary in CA 2022 = $72157
CA marginal income rate after $35000 6% Once you in the $60’s they turning pockets inside out for almost 10%(9.3)

Texas property tax 1.69%
Average median home price in TX $325000= $5492 in taxes
Average in salary in TX 2022 = $57988
TX income rate 0%

So you make 20% more money in Cali, but it cost you 156% more to buy a house. And you still get money taken out of your weekly pay checks on top of that.

Make it make sense bruh.

This is something that majority of Black folks are oblivious on. Owning one of these mofos.

You can get one refurbished between $25k to $80k, maybe more depending on what you want.

They just hook these mofos onto the back of a freight train or AmTrak….and off you go.

You mainly see them used in old western movies.

I ain’t mad at you, I just don’t how the average person can make it work over there unless you working for Silicon Valley or some shit. I ain’t wit the struggles at this point in my life.
California is not a place for those struggling. It just isn’t unless you OK with living in Bakersfield, Barstow or Blythe. Any Metro here will run your pockets even the hood is expensive. Me and the wife are lucky to make what we make and have 2 spoiled ass kids

I have seen while traveling a lot of places that we’re paying less than $8/hr prior to the pandemic, more than $20/hr nowadays.

They ain’t doing it cuz of cost of living, they trying to entice people to work there.

It’s not being reported in the news, but a large segment of the American population has basically said “Fuck Work, It Ain’t Worth It”.

Wall Street and these dumbass politicians refuse to get their heads out of their ass and figure out it’s gonna take more than a higher wage to get these jobs filled by Americans.

Americans want…

- affordable healthcare
- pensions
- safe working environments
- affordable childcare
- vacation
- paid sick time
- better schools
- paid Medical leave

along with making a living wage to have plenty left over as disposable income where they are not in a situation of just working to pay bills.

Eventually at some point they will figure it out.

I hear you BUT. You can still get more home and land in Texas for your bread. For example San Antonio 500k -700k 4 to 5 br with basement sitting on an Acre and the homes are spaced out. Sane in Georgia

In Cali you're looking at close to a million for that with barely any land and no basement. Home ownership is about land also

Great if you stay in your house all day. A huge house turns into a huge prison if you can’t leave it. Being outside is one of the best things you can do for your health and well being. I’ve stayed with family down south in huge homes and after a while, the thrill of a huge home goes away.
I live in a modest home in Oakland but going to a beach, hiking in Redwoods, mountain biking in Eucalyptus, or fishing at a lake in comfortable weather is just a decision most days a year. One of the most overlooked things about Cali is our produce. Most produce is made in California and there is a huge difference in the quality the farther you get from here.

San Antonio is one of the most boring wackest cities I’ve ever been too. Charles Barkley is right it’s wack there. You could give me a million dollar house and I’d sell it. I’m not into being a house prisoner. The crazy thing here is if it’s like 90 in Oakland I can drive across the Bay Bridge into San Francisco and it will be 65 to escape the heat. It’s just something you can t experience in land locked places like Texas. I like to get high and go watch the sunset over the ocean.

I just used San Ant as example, same applies to Houston and Dallas metro. San Ant is nice though, you act as if it's Iowa or Idaho lol

Nobody in their right mind wants to move to San Antonio. Its the literal real SouthWest still and its full of Mexicans and always will be.

Homeless In California: Living In My Car

True, but higher isn’t enough to justify the ridiculous costing of living difference. You can still get a brand new starter home in Texas for $200k, try getting anything brand new in Cali for 200k and we don’t have state income tax so it levels out in the end. Unless you got bread like that or just inherited a house then I don’t see the point in moving to Cali or staying there.
I can never exist in that place called Cali. Someone told me that my home in Atlanta would be a $7m home in Cali. If that’s the case I’d be homeless. Fuck the beaches.

but the prices wont come down THAT much -

less homes being sold just means more buiulders wont build and those who want to sell will probably hold onto what they have

the ultimate problem is one that i dont think the industry can solve because the industry has a vested interest in home prices staying high or at least staying flat

driving down the cost so that more people can enter the market and "afford"a home doesnt do anything for the institutional or govt agencies that make money off of high home values....
The high price isn't sustainable in the long term, this is the third time they tried this shit. I have three house foundations in my neighborhood that were laid out April of this year and damn near 5 on the next block over that have just been sitting unfinished. My neighbors are real-estate agents they said thing started slowing down in May due to the prices. Before hand they were selling at least 20 to 30 houses a week due to the demand now they are down to maybe two or three a week. Corporation's (Zillow) that where buying up properties are dealing with a huge inventory and now no flood of buyers is what they said is becoming a huge problem that alot of agents aren't talking about.

As if Georgia don't have mountains and state parks with natural hot springs. I base home ownership on generational wealth and amount of land as in with acreage my seed seeds can build another home on their grandparents land or sell it and buy more acreage. you're baseing it on produce really? Ok in that case I can say I prefer Georgia due to its number 1 in peaches and pecans..wtf lol.

Again makes no sense to me to spend millions for less. Neighbors few feet away, only 3 br, barely a front - back yard a.k.a no acreage, no basement. Just to say " I OWN A MILLION DOLLAR HOME" lol.
As to where in GA for 400-700K more br, basement, not close to neighbors, and an acre or two

Co-sign. Went to San Antonio during July 4th weekend. Heard all the shit about river walk blah blah. Shit was BEYOND wack. Austin was way better. Being a cali native as well truth I get the price increases. A tiny shitty little place in the hood is starting at 7-800k. It’s wild. You lucky u got dual income. I don’t get how a single person is making it out there unless u have a highly profitable skill. Most cats don’t have that and have to live with roommates. And that’s ALWAYS a roll of the dice there

I’m not arguing with you. I can definitely see value outside of California. That said, I’ve made over 1 million dollars in equity from my real estate purchase 11 years ago. I can buy the same home and acreage in George’s for my seeds and still have money left over. The produce issue is the MOST important. Health is wealth. Fresh produce will improve health and extend life.

Cool but say you were sitting on an acre or 2, then you're looking at more than a million
