I guess I'm the only one on BGOL who thinks this show is 'Meh' at best? If the next episode ain't any better, I won't be watching another one.

I assumed people were into it because they were Star Wars fans. I'm interested to see where the story goes, but I dont see what all the hype was about so far. Also it felt like the first two episodes could have been merged. I'm not going fully judge it until the end of the season.

It could also be that I feel like they made it a weekly series because they didn't have anything else popular or attention holding ready for Disney plus launch and I'm holding it against the show. Part of the appeal of streaming services is seeing a series/movie on your time. Lately it seems like streaming services are going back to the weekly episode format and I'm not a fan. Understand the reason from a business perspective, but as a user it is a turn off.

Yeah man I feel like they are stretching the series out

They could have merged the first two shows. The show is ok and probably would be a lot better with longer episodes. As soon as things get good the show goes off and you have to wait until next week

Great post...

We had this debate in another thread

I don't like the weekly

However i can see it.

Netflix did it with the rap competition

Hulu with wu tang

And it works.

And the positives are building steady buzz and constant discussion easy for an audience to catch up and creating appointment viewing and reducing spoilers

I liked it cause i cant keep up with all this new content and one a week i have hard wired since birth to be comfortable with.

All that said?

I would REALLY caution against this cause this streaming services are getting ridiculous and too expensive too time consuming.

This once a week stuff is only for CERTAIN shows.

Disney better not try this too often.

Unless they aint raising their rate for the next 4 years.

Yeah so after episode 2, few things I'm thinking.

1. Baby Yoda is either legit love child or Kamino clone, either of which the Dr (Kamino Patch on his fit) wants to exploit for research because his species is super powerful force sensitive beings. The empire would know of Kamino's clone game since the fallen Jedi Syfo Dias was Dooku's homie, he orchestrated the Clones (EP II when Obi Wan went there)and Dooku reported directly to the Emperor as his apprentice.

This makes me think "The Client" wants the baby dead so he doesnt turn into a fully realized Yoda since they just got they asses handed to them by Luke (Newly realized Jedi) on DeathStar II 5 years ago. He sees the baby as took much of a risk being a Imperialist. And he gone send every low down space hood fucker after Mando till they both dead.

2. The remaining Imperial Loyalist (Brotha from Breaking Bads Character) may come into play about the baby if this story line plays out and Mando becomes a target everywhere trying to keep Baby Yoda alive and may get some new crew along the way.

BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Walt Disney Records releases the digital soundtrack from "The Mandalorian," Lucasfilm's first-ever, live-action series, streaming exclusively on Disney+ today. The Mandalorian: Chapter 1 digital album features score by Oscar® and Grammy®-winning composer Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Creed) and is available HERE. The release will be followed by The Mandalorian: Chapter 2 digital album available on November 15, with subsequent weekly releases for each episode of the series.
The Mandalorian cover art
The Swedish-born composer's approach to "The Mandalorian" score and character themes was to combine organic elements from recorders, pianos and guitars in different ways and infuse tech sounds with a cinematic orchestra. Göransson said, "Working on something so fresh and original as 'The Mandalorian,' I knew I had to compose something just as exciting. I wanted the score for each episode to be unique so I had to create a big sound world to draw inspiration from. I started my compositional journey away from the computer in the woods and at my small home studio playing live instruments such as recorders, piano and guitar. I took that material back into the computer and added tech elements to make the organic instruments take new shapes. Lastly, I added the cinematic sweep of an 70-piece orchestra to make my compositions breathe and come to life. Working with Jon and the entire team involved in the making of this series was incredibly humbling and collaborative. I'm so excited to share this soundtrack with fans around the world."
"The Mandalorian" album titles and episode release dates follow:
The Mandalorian: Chapter 1 from #101- November 12 (season premiere)
The Mandalorian: Chapter 2 from #102- November 15
The Mandalorian: Chapter 3 from #103- November 22
The Mandalorian: Chapter 4 from #104- November 29
The Mandalorian: Chapter 5 from #105- December 6
The Mandalorian: Chapter 6 from #106- December 13
The Mandalorian: Chapter 7 from #107- December 18
The Mandalorian: Chapter 8 from #108- December 27 (season finale)
About Ludwig Göransson
In a career spanning only 10 years, Ludwig Göransson has amassed an impressive resume in both the recording and motion picture industries, earning an Academy Award, multiple Grammy Awards and countless other nominations. After working as an assistant to composer Theodore Shapiro (Destroyer, Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Dodgeball), Göransson got his first big break writing music for the NBC television series, Community. This led to a friendship and collaboration with Donald Glover, who performs under the stage name Childish Gambino, on several studio albums including Because the Internet and Awaken, My Love. Göransson has been nominated for six Grammys with Childish Gambino, and won two this year for the Billboard Hot 100 Number One hit song "This Is America," which became a cultural phenomenon and garnered world-wide acclaim.
While pursuing his masters degree in film scoring at USC, Göransson met his other longtime collaborator, director Ryan Coogler, when he scored his short film, Locks. Over the next nine years, Göransson would score all three of Coogler's feature films. Much like iconic filmmaking duos Hitchcock and Herrmann or Spielberg and Williams, Coogler's diverse filmography has allowed Göransson to show his range as a composer, writing understated melodies for Fruitvale Station, hyping up audiences for Creed, and infusing African percussion into his themes for Black Panther.
Göransson has accumulated success in a variety of other films including the box office smash Venom and Pixar's Inner Workings. In 2018, Göransson earned multiple awards and nominations for his score for Black Panther including a Golden Globe nomination, Grammy Award and Academy Award for Best Original Score.
Göransson is also working on the score for Christopher Nolan's Tenent out July 17, 2020 and co-producing songs for DreamWorks' Trolls World Tour, sequel to the popular animated film Trolls out April 17, 2020, alongside Justin Timberlake.

I refuse to pay for RoS.

Disney got me for TLJ. Nope, not paying for another SW film again.

I'm all about their TV shows though...

One questions..

is parsecs a measure of SPEED or a measure of DISTANCE or a measure of AREA?????
unit of distance
Bro low key I think it's a running joke and it's been used for damn near all of em.... i.e Solo talking shit bout MF making the "Kessel Run" in less than 12 parsecs etc.

And and this series is set 5 years after return of the Jedi when the Empire just got they asses blown apart on the DS II

Here goes your answer

Our podcast would be popping!

is it this thread or in general?

we can have @fonzerrillii add SPOILERS in the thread title.

but I feel like pretty EARLY on this thread it was clear it was gonna be spoiler friendly
I only entered this thread after I watched the show.

I avoid threads or articles about things I plan to watch.

But in the case of the Mandalorian people were randomly posting pics of the show.

Like you'd be scrolling and see the baby. I was like DAMN. i KNOW that was supposed to be a surprise ending.

Fuckers.

SMH. People just try to ruin shit for others. I try not to talk spoilers unless it's in a dedicated thread.

I hate watching weekly shows. I waited till season 4 of GOT before I started watching it.

To me, the weekly episodes are to ensure people dont quickly drop the service. In this case a lot of people may have dropped Disney Plus if the Mandalorian had dropped all the episodes day one. Even with the Mandalorian and other series that may be for a bigger audience, I think we all agree that Disney Plus target audience are kids so the average adult isn't likely to keep it after the Mandalorian is done.

The same thing more than likely occurred with HBO and Game of Thrones. People got whatever HBO service for GOT and if they weren't interested in another HBO series they cancelled the service once the season was over. Speaking of HBO there upcoming streaming service seems like it could be interesting and worth buying next year.

The spoiler thing can happen even if the show comes out weekly. There are some exceptions, but even if I know what happens in a story it still feels good to visually see it come to life for myself.

For me, I'm more likely to watch a complete season of a series if it's all there from day one. A lot of shows do start out slow and pick up in the middle or toward the end of the series. However, if the series is boring and I don't hear anyone talking about it I may never go back to it. Sometimes that happens with shows I'm interested in that have mid season breaks.

Sometimes there is too much content to watch especially when you have regular responsibilities and have interest outside of tv shows/movies. I guess you could wait until the end of the season to watch, but I still prefer season being dropped on day one and me as the consumer deciding how I'm going to watch the season. Sometimes I let weekly episodes build up and watch them back to back.

You do know that the whole "full season drop" was an accident that Netflix did with House of Cards right?
Disney is setting the tone back to what a tv show really is. They want to properly gauge the audience's interest in a show.
That why they can react to demand.

Posted on Monday, February 4th, 2013 by Peter Sciretta

At the end of last week I got into a twitter debate with producer Dana Brunetti (The Social Network, 21, Fifty Shades of Grey). Dana, executive producer on the new David Fincher-produced/directed tv series House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey, began tweeting about how he didn’t understand how some people didn’t get Netflix’s decision to release the entire season onto their streaming service all at once.

I understand it, and I get why Netflix thinks this is the way things should be. Netflix has ton of television programing available, and their users binge watch seasons in the matter of days. They have the stats to prove this. Why change whats been working for them? Why not challenge the status quo of releasing an episode a week with an original series?

I’m all about challenging the way things are done… but does it make sense?

So I responded to Dana and our back and fourth debate has now been chronicled by Mentorless and other sites. I thought it might be worth exploring further in a format that allowed me more than 140 characters.

Fuck that I'm waiting for the series to end then buy a one month subscription and binge watch, either that or I get through other means.
